Win7 keeps asking for username and password for Sharepoint

Using Sharepoint 3.0 on Windows 2008 Server. Trying to get Windows 7 to keep the username and password stored on the Sharepoint computer but it doesn't. Please advise.

Moss 2007 won't crawl WSS 2.0 managed paths

I'm trying to crawl some WSS 2.0 managed paths from Moss 2007 search. I have the following crawl rules setup in Moss: http://rootsite/* http://rootsite/apps/* http://rootsite/projs/* The http://rootsite gets crawled, but not the managed paths. I've tried everything I can think of to get Moss to crawl the WSS 2.0 managed paths. Is there some kind of configuration setting on the WSS 2.0 site I'm missing to enable the managed paths to be crawled?

Child site permissions.

I am using SP 3.0 and have a question regarding permissions. Can I assign someone one of the default permissions, on a child site that is not inheriting permissions from the parent? I’d like to do this, so that I don’t have to create a new permission level.

I'm a developer wanting to learn Sharepoint. Last Saturday, I met a .NET architect that told me the new version of Sharepoint (version 2010) was designed to run on a desktop computer running Windows (not Windows Server). I'm still using Windows XP SP3. Can I install the trial version of Sharepoint 2010 on my Windows XP? Will Sharepoint 2010 work on Windows XP?

Hi We installed SharePoint 2010 on a small web farm (2 servers) without following the setup instructions. we are facing the double hop issue. the setup guide says that we should configure kerberos before installing sharepoint, but we can't go back right now. can we configure kerberos after installing sharepoint 2010 on web farm?

incoming email setup

I am running sharepoint services 3.0. I am trying to get a document library to accept emais. I have followed the white papers from MS, however I am getting an error. Here is what I am doing: 1) set up the document library 2) go to settings, document library settings, communications, incoming email settings. 3) on the incoming emails settings page: choose yes for allow to receive, give an email address and press OK. 4) After press OK I receive the following error: Go back to site ERROR. Missing "Edit Page" under "Site Actions"

I am using WSS3.0 with Project Server 2007. Both apps are patched with sp2 and Feb CU. On each of my pages, while logged in as the site administrator, the "Edit Page" option does not appear in the "Site Actions" drop down menu. The only option I have is Site Settings. I verified that I am listed as a site collection Admin, is there anywhere else i should look?

SharePoint 2010 and KB971831

I have a working SharePoint installation running on 64-bit Windows 2008 SP2 (not R2), but am having trouble getting the User Profile Synchronization to work. After some searching I am repeatedly seeing others being asked to confirm they have KB971831 installed. If I go to Control Panel>Programs & Features>View Installed Updates, I don't see KB971831 installed. However, when I attempt to install the file (Windows6.0-kb971831- x64.msu) I get the error: "the install does not apply to your system". I cannot find any log or Eventlog entry to figure out why it thinks it doesn't apply.

How to deal with a running workflow item when an approver is unavailable?

I created a workflow which is a simple out of the box two person approval. An item has been submitted into the workflow. The initial approver is out of the office, and I'd like to mark it as approved. I went into the workflow status page, clicked on the item, and clicked approved - but the approval was rejected as the item wasn't assigned to me. I then logged in as the sharepoint admin, and tried approving the item, but again, the approval was rejected. Is thre a method by which an admin can either delegate approval of a running item to another individual? At the very least, is

Send email to all Site Users

My organization has SharePoint Portal 2003 site. We are going to be making some changes to the site and would like to notify all the users of the site by email ahead of time. When I go to the Manage Users page the only action that appears to be available is Remove Selected Users. We add users by looking them up in our Exchange GAL. Is there anyway to send an email to all the Users of a given site? -Chris

Incoming email works but list System Account as sender (WSS 3.0)

Very new to WSS....running WSS 3.0 in single server configuration on a single domain. I have incoming email working with email enabled document libraries but the documents are showing up as posted by "System Account" instead of the AD user. When setting the policy as "Accept....based on document library permissions", nothing shows up in the library even though my AD account has full rights...I have to use "Accept email messages from any sender" option for anything to show up. I'm not using "Sharepoint Directory Management Service"...is this why? Or should this still work? If

Convert a SharePoint 2007 Calendar to a PDF File

Hi Everyone, As the subject says, can anyone advise if it is possible for me to convert an existing SharePoint calendar to a PDF file? I would then post the PDF version of the calendar on an external site so that people can download it to view the calendar. The external users don't need to edit, they only need read access to view the calendar. I know you can export to a calendar to an Excel spredsheet, however my client does not like this option. Prescan tool errors

Hello, As part of my Project Server Upgrade, i am migrating WSS 2.0 sites to WSS 3.0. I used the prescan tool to scan my site first, however it errors. The log file tells me that my root site "Http://<servernamd>/ (root)" and "Http://<servernamd>/ " has not been scanned. It then lists several lists that "has not been scrubbed". I am out of ideas on how to fix this. Here's what I've done so far. - applied a hotfix to included the databaserepair option for the stsadm tool and ran it against my content database. I installed Sharepoint 2010 RTM on Windows 2008 SP2. During the configuration stage, it failed. The reason is c2wts does not start up. Second Sharepoint farm for test/DR capabilities

Hi, I want to create a second isolated farm for test/DR capabilities. This farm is not read only. It will live in the same domain as the live server. We created a sub site to test the different options available in SharePoint as well as to try and see what things the users could do that would cause us problems. For one sub site all of the user groups were removed from the site...which instantly gave me no access to the sub site. when I request access it sends the email to me, but I can't go in and approve it. I can't figure this out.. I installed WSS and need to define a user friendly url for the internal top level site. Currently it's http://servername and I would like to change it to http://companyname so people don't have to type the server name. How do I do this?

SSP admin page is missing

I am using PS2007 SP2 FebCU and WSS 3.0 SP2 FebCU During the installation for Project Server it requires me to set up a WSS shared service provider for the Project web Access Web application. I am not sure when this occurred but I found that my SharePoint Shared Services Provider admin site is no longer accessible, when i try to access it directly, IE gives me an error saying that the page cannot be found. Anonymous Access setup

I have a request to turn on anonymous access (MOSS 2007). We only have one Site collection and it’s an Intranet that uses Authentication Type; Windows and Integrated Windows Authentication. It seems straight forward first Enable IIS Anonymous Authentication, second Enable anonymous access for the Web Application needed, turn on anonymous access for list or site. Question: If I turn on anonymous access without enabling it on any sites or lists will my users notice anything different? I assume they will not notice anything.
