Debugging SharePoint workflow in production environment

Hi All, I developed a workflow in C#, WWF and deployed to production after successful testing in Dev / QA. I want to debug the workflow in production environment which is Windows 2003 R2 64 bit. Visual studio is not installed on production ofcourse. So copied msvsmon.exe and its config file and ran on production. From the dev box started Visual Studio, Debug --> Attach to process --> Connected to msvsmon instance on production --> Connected to the correct W3P worker process on production. The DLL and PDB for workflow are present on production say for example: c:\test and DLL added t

SBS2003 Open File Issue

Even though the files are NOT open, I am getting an error trying to move the files, delete them overwrite them. I can from the server go into manager and see that the files look to be open and have to close them there. I'm not sure it has to do with Photoshop files, but that almost seems like it has something to do with maybe not releasing them - no sure because when people are actually not here it says there are open files, I go to their desktop and files are no open. Anyone? Specs: Dell Server RAID5, SBS2003 R2 w/all SP's and patches as far as I can tell.

Save documents locally

Is there a way to prevent users from opening documents in a library and then saving them locally? I am saving SOP's in a document library don't want users to have the ability to save them locally as the document content will be dynamic; I don't want people using out of date documents that they've saved to their hard drives.

Workflow - How to remove Run Action

When I try to delete the "Run Action" Workflow Action from a wrokflow, the Workflow Designer removes the action from the list of actions but when I get back to the Workflow Step, the Run Action is there. This is causing my workflow to error out. The workflow was running ok. I made a change to the 'Collect Date from User' action. That is when SPD decided to add the 'Run Action' step directly after the 'Collect data from user' step. !!!!!Please help!!!! - I don't want to have to recreate the entire workflow from scratch.

I have set up alerts to notify users of any change to documents within a library. Some of these changes may be minor so I would like to notify the users to the extent of change through the comment colunm. Hence, how do I add the comment colunm to the email alert template. I have a third party web part that reads quotes from a custom list & displays them in a "Quote of the day" format on the main page of my site. Currently it doesnt function-I see the added web part in edit mode, but nothing is displayed when I exit edit mode. I'm pretty sure I have the list name & columns referenced by the web part correct. How to delete the column of impact and probability from Risks list

Hello, Is there a way to delete the default Probability and Impact columns under Risks in Project Web Access/SharePoint? Our client wants to use a 1-5 rating for each, so we've implemented drop-down menus in place of the default numeric fields. If we can get around having to create a new 'Risks' list, based on the default but without Probability and Impact, that would be great. Any help is much appreciated....

Attachment guideline or limit for lists

Can anyone tell me the guideline or limit that Microsoft recommends for attachments to a list iitem. I know there is a 2,000 guideline for number of items in a list. Is there any documentation from Microsoft that shows how adding attachments to lists degrades performance for viewing and searching in SharePoint? Thanks for any help on this.

How can I let Senior Management post emergency messages?

We'd like to let some non-technical senior management people post emergency messages on our intranet front page. I do not want to give them the privileges necessary to edit the page since they could do some harm. My first thought is to have a content editor web part that uses a text file as its source but I can't see how they can even upload a text file into a library without having contribute rights to the site. I tried creating a library and giving contribute rights just to that library, but the user can't access the library (no View All Site Content option). Any ideas greatly

Unable to navigate to Document library

I am able to type \\sitename\reports into my navigation in Windows Explorer and it takes me to the proper location. If I chose to, I would be able to map this location as a network drive as well. This is all occuring on my Windows 7 workstation. I am unable to perform these same actions on a Windows Server 2003 machine. Both machines are on the same domain and I am using the same user account for both. I have also applied the workaround in KB841215 and it did not solve the problem either. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

SP + .NET

Hey there... I got a freelancer job to develop a poll system in .NET. It's quite a simple tool... But guy that hired me said the they run Sharepoint. Do I have to develop it under SP to make they work together? Or can I only deploy it on the server's IIS and SP can access it? tagging file in windows and upload to sharepoint

Hello, I have created picture library in MOSS 2007 and I would like to upload images containing windows file tags from a hard drive to sharepoint. Unfortunately my picture library doesn't contain tags (or keywords) assigned to picture. Is there any way to store pictures with tags in sharepoint? If not, is there any possibility to change custom column property (title, keywords etc) for more than one picture in one editing without additional scripting?

Cannot edit EXCEL Document

I'm reposting this question with a more precise subject . . . I've upgraded 15 locations to IE 8.0. At one of the sites, upon trying to edit a file in Excel, I get the message "Edit Document" requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible application and IE 6.0 or greater". I'm running 8.0 and Excel 2003 is running like at my other sites. I did not get any "run Active X" bars that I failed to click on. I cleared the cache and rebooted the computer. Any ideas on what I should do?

Form Web Part

On a webpage there is a Form Web Part for searching through a SQL database. The Form Web Part is linked to a Data View using Web Part Connections. When you enter the search criteria you have to use case sensitive characters. Is it possible to have a case insensitive search Form Web Part? BTW. InfoPath form by link error

I have a MOSS server with InfoPath services installed. When I search for a some form on a site and click a link from the search result, the form is trying to be opened in Inet browser and gives an error. This form library is designed to open forms in InfoPath 2007 client. "Open in the client application" option is activated in the library. Could you please suggest?

Newbie Sharepoint Role Dilemma

OK - studying Sharepoing/MOSS, they distinguish roles between Admin/Developer and 'Power Users', which are found and assigned to lay off some of the load for some of the many tasks. However, to me (maybe I'm not visualizing a big enough business), but it would seem that a lot of the Power User tasks, as they are called are pretty much admin/developer type taks, and job security would dictate that as much as possible was kept to a small amount of employees. I really don't know - just thinking out loud. What is it like in the real world?

when a document is declared to the record center what permsiions are copied from the team site and associated with the document? For example, if library permissions are inherited from the site, and the document or folder containing the document have different permissions, which permissions are applied to the document in the record center? Infopath 2003, MOSS 2007, email form contents

I need to use our SharePoint site to send user support requests via email. So I created a from in InfoPath 2003 with the necessary fields, added a button to submit it to email as an action, and published it to a document library. And it almost does what I want except: 1) I'd like to put the user info (from the text boxes on the form) into the body of the email instead of as an attachment 2) The user has to actually go into the document library and click the New button. I'd rather maybe create a view that just has a button that does the New functionality? Then I can show just that

I have a list that has Titel, Body, Created by, Modified by attachments, and (Title linked to edit menu) When I drop this on a new 3 part web page these items are grey in the edit view of the web part. When I click OK they become black for a short time. I would like to be able to select which columns are shown on this page. Any ideas?

The Request has been rejected

MOSS 2007 SP2, Small Farm Windows 2003 R2 SP2, SQL 2005 using ADFS. ADFS was just configured after extending a web application. Now we get these intermittent errors. "Server Error in /ADFS Apllication The Request has been rejected becasue it appears to be a duplicate of a request from the same client browser session within the last 20 seconds" This seems to be addressed in an earlier hotfix for this specific issue, please see hot fix. However, I do not see this update on the server nor do I see it in the SP releases or think that they would roll a fix into a SP for such an o

No longer able to edit EXCEL file.

I have a user on our Sharepoint site that has lost their ability to edit an EXCEL document. They have contribute permission and have been able to edit it in the past. The drop down menu with "edit" as a selection no longer appears. They were using IE 6.0 and I upgraded them to IE 7.0, but the problem still persists. Any ideas why this is happening?

Alerts on out SharePoint 2007 server have been working for well over a year. On Monday, alerts stopped coming through on our "EmployeePortal" site. Hi, We have MOSS 2007 installed on a Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition and running for 6 months. Our users suddenlly started to get the HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden. A little background: I have a large collection of excel and word documents that I would like to upload to SharePoint (WSS 3.0). I have been able to populate the custom document properties of these files and would like to have SharePoint's metadata/columns to have the values of these custom properties that I have set. Uncommon Issue in EPM 2007
