Task names and notes mysteriously disapearing??
Hi,
I'm a new user, and am finding that whole sections of task names are
disappearing at random times for no reason (the rest of the task detail
such as dates, dependencies etc will remain), and the same for notes.
Absolutely no idea why this is coming about.
I'm also finding that, while most times I am able to save my file, on
some random occassions I am being told that the file is read only (which
its not).
I am using Project 2007. Do I have an infected file or something like
that? Has anyone come across this before?

I have seen this before and I think that this is caused by opening and
editing a file which resides somewhere on a network drive rather than on
your local HDD.
If the network connection fails or is interupted even momentarily, you get
these problems.
Better to copy the file to your local HDD, edit it, and then put it back
where it usually resides.
Just a theory.

That would make sense - it seems "random" to me, but most likely isn't
(these things never are). And I'm working off the server and I often
get up and take my computer with me.
Thanks very much - problem solved I reckon!

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure you have the latest
service packs installed, etc. There was a problem with P2007 awhile back
where tasks randomly renumbered and disappeared.
