Project Workspace Permissions
Hi, I want to change the permissions for all project managers from Design to
Contribute with regard to project workspaces. I want them to be able to add
content in lists and libraries, but not change the structure of the lists and
libraries by adding or deleting columns.
I think I should be able to do this by changing the Project Managers
(Microsoft Office Project Server Group) SharePoint group permissions in PWA.
All I want to be able to do is uncheck the Manage Lists checkbox and test
from there.
However, I do that and the permissions for the workspaces are not applied as

Referencing the Baseline Work field
All,
I'm trying to create a calculated field that takes the contents of the
Baseline Work field and multiply by the Physcial % Complete field. The
formula is ([Baseline Work] * ([Physical % Complete]/100)). I get some
screwball number, so to verify the contents of the Baseline Work
field, I created a custom field (Baseline0Work) that just references
that field, ([Baseline Work]). The number in the Baseline0Work field
does not match what shows in the Baseline Work field. In fact, for one
task, the Baseline Work field shows 6256 and the Baseline0Work field
shows 375360. What's going on

PWA 2007 Database Field for Tasks Updates That Need to be Submitte
Does anyone know what project server database table and field that could be
used in a custom report to tell which task assignment updates that have been

Not able to Read Exception by Read Calendar Method of PSI
Hello,
I need to update or modify the exception on multiple project calendar
through PSI where I am able to add exception in New calendar where
same exception not matched but still not able to Read the exception by
ReadCalendar method.

How to clear Remaining work for Inactive Resources in Project 2003
Hello,
We are using Project Server 2003. Is there any easier way to clear Remaining
work for Inactive Resources other than going to each project and zeroing the
remaing work...may be from backend or pds calls?

All,
How do I add custom fields to Gantt chart formats in PWA? Also, how can i
setup and use the "Custom Durations 1-10" available in the Gantt chart

Admin server account for 2007 install
Anyone know what access and permissions is needed for the Farm Acct used to
install and run services in MSP 2007? We are having an issue where we cannot
login with this account on the App and SQL servers after creating it on the
DC and then adding it to the App and SQL servers.
We can only login locally and then when we try to install the servers
software we only have the standalone option...any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

Publishing Tasks Updates
When working on Project Server 2007 for approving tasks updates, is there a
way to have the tasks automatically published on to a project plan rather
than the PM having to first approve of the task and then go to the Applied
Task Update Requests and Errors page to select the tasks that need to be
published and then pick the project it needs to be published too?
I know there is a way for them to do it straight from the project plan in
Project Professional but the PMs prefer to use the web access since they can
approve of more than one project at a time but then they find it cumbe

MS Project Server 2007 - Filter? Custom Field?
I want to be able to create a management report that will filter for the
following tasks:
- Has a Start date within the next 5 days
OR
- Has a Finish date within the next 5 days
How do I do this? If I use a filter it filters for both items, meaning it
uses AND instead of OR. Is there a custom field I can use? Suggestions?

PS2010 'LIKE' operator
I'm doing some work manually transcribing a PS2007 configuration to PS2010
(an opportunity to review the config amongst other things), however am
getting the message 'The formula contains errors' from PWA when I try to save
one of the Enterprise Custom fields. The formula contains 'LIKE' and this
seems to be what is tripping it up. I've created a simple formula in
standalone Project 2010:
IIf([Text1] Like "completed*","Yes","No")
And it works just fine. Repeating this in PWA 2010 results in the error.
Could this be a variance in the validation of PWA and standalone Projec

2007 install - only standalone option available???
Could anyone tell me why I am only getting a standalone option to install
from my purchased copy of MSP 2007?
I am installing onto a machine that previously had MSP 2003 on it. We have
removed MSP 2003 completely.
Could it have anything to do with being logged into the server locally? We
have had problem logging in with our added admin account we set up.

Problem with getting a full backup from sharepoint farm
We have a server farm (one virtual machine for SQL2008,one for SharePoint and
one for project server), and the system works fine. I am able to get a backup
using stsadm -o backup -url <url> -filename <name>, but when I try to get a
full backup using SharePoint backup and restore tools or stsadm -o backup
-directory E:\Backup -backupmethod full I am getting error message regarding
WSS_Search_sharepoint-serber-name
I am getting the same error message when I run the full back from project
server server.
Any thought on this issue? Any port/services that I need to open?

Time-off Report for Resource Managers
Hi there! I'm hoping that someone can answer this one.
Anyone know if there is a report or view that resource managers can access
to see a list of the dates he/she approved for time-off? For example, you
see the requests in the Approvals > Administrative Time, but then you cannot
pull a history of what you had approved.
The capacity graph in resource center is not useful in providing discrete
list of dates of time approved.

Email Alert on New Issue
I'm working with Project Server 2010. I am using the out of the box
Issues List within a Project Site. The site, issues list or none of
the fields have been modified.
1. I have a valid email address
2. I have email configured properly within project server server
settings
3. SharePoint central administration and outgoing email is configured
properly
3. I get emails when I publish schedules. I get emails when users
submit updates.
4. When I create a new issue and assign myself to the owner and
assigned to fields, I get no alert.

Email alerts for 100% complete Task
We are on Project Server 2007, is there a way to stop email alerts for tasks
that are 100% complete without altering the settings so that it turns off all

Can't View Applied Task Update Requests and Errors
While under the Applied Task Update Requests and Errors view in PWA I clicked
on the hyperlink for a task name to show the history but instead I received
the following message:
"You do not have sufficient permissions to view the specified page. Please
contact your administrator for permissions to view this page."
I'm not the person who approved the task, but I am an admin in Project
Server. So, why can't I see the history?

Add formulas in Excel - S Curve
Not sure if this is a Excel or PS2007 Cube question. Here I go:
When I try to add a calculated field to a Pivot Table in Excel 2007, the add
formula button is disabled.
I want to use the formula Aggregate(PeriodsToDate([Time].[year]),
[Measures].[Cost]) to buid a S - Curve. I already solved this in PWA. Is
there an Excel or PS2007 limitation?.

Ressource Name for External Link
Dear All,
When connecting a user and going to his project on PWA, Ressources names
appear. However, if the link is an external to another project, the name of
the External Ressource name does not appear.

showing error when open documents in wss site locally or remotely
I have setup an EPM in my company .
extranet is also configure.
and PWA sites can open remotely smoothly.
In WSS i made a site and assign 3 users in this site as a contributor . and
in the form library and document i upload some document .
when i try to open the wss site remotely its open normally but when i try to
open the document remotely it is showing error.
"Error cannot open the file 'Backup1.xlsx' becasue the file format or file
extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that
the file extension matches the format of the file"

Project Pro 2007 Crashing Upon Opening a Resource Calendar
Good Afternoon
Lately I've noticed that Project Pro 2007 is crashing as soon as I try to
open a resource calendar from Project Server 2007.
The steps that I'm taking are:
1) Open PWA Resource Center
2) Select resource
3) Click open
4) Double click the resource in Project Pro
5) Click Change Working Time
At that point, the application pops up a warning that it needs to close and
check for solutions online.
Our system (Server and Client) is currently at:
SP2 + December 2009 CU
Has anyone seen this before? Possibly found a solution?

Lookups and Local Cache
Experts,
I saw similar posts asking abuot this issue but did not get the answer i'm
looking for. Everytime I add or modify Lookup values in PWA, exit project and
come back, I do not see the new values under Project-->Project Information.
The only time I would see them is by cleaning the local Cache folder. Is this
the way it's designed? how do you implement that for 150+ users? do I have to
tell them to do this everytime i make a change to lookup values? i sure hope
not.

Why do we get a NaN error when submitting in PWA?
We are using MS Project 2007 SP1 and Project Web Access (IE 6.0)
We've used Project Professional for almost 3 years now, and have only
received this error less than a dozen times.
A user will update a percentage in the My Tasks section of PWA, and it
submits as if accepted. However, they show a "Not Accepted" message
in the % field. The Admin receives an e-mail as normal, but with
"Completion: NaN"....but the Admin can still approve the submission
in PWA and it updates Project Professional with the correct
percentage.
The only true issue we can find is that the PWA user does

PS2007 Risk list as a list template
An over zealous PS 2007 Administrator has changed the Owner column type in
the Risk and Issue logs. Having lived with the PS Queue errors for several
months (during which time lots of Project Workspaces have been created), they
now want to resolve the error. It's not as simple as resetting the 'type' to
'Person or Group' (sadly) as there seems no way to do this in the 'Settings'
page. I have created a list template from the supplied Microsoft Project
Workspace SharePoint template with a view to replacing the defective lists
and, whilst I can now create a replacement Issue list

Error when accessing the MY TASKS View (Proj Ser 2007)
I ran into an interesting problem and wanted to share it with the group.
I am using MS Proj Pro 2007 SP2 and MS Proj Server 2007 SP2. I was working
in an enterprise project and was checking resource assignments on PWA using
the MY TASKS view. I exited the view then tried to go back and received the
following error:
"Error (Go back to site): An unexpected error has occurred.
Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to
temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings..."
If I closed the MY TASKS web part, I could view the page, but, of

Task ID number in PWA and Project do not match
We are using Project Server, Microsoft Project 2007 and PWA 2007.
I noticed today that for one of my project plans, the task ID number in PWA
was different than in Project.
When I open up the project plan from project server via Project 2007, the
second line item has ID of 2. When I print from Project, it also shows as
item 2.
When I view the same plan through PWA using the Project Center, the second
line item has ID of 7. (and all the rest of the line items increment
sequentially from 7)
I tried changing the line item through Project, and re-publishing. The

Resource Availability Post Link
Good Morning!
We would like the Resource Availability Report to be available to more
people via our SharePoint site. When I try to post a link to the report,
instead of it showing everyone I had checked, it just shows my availability.
Is there a way to post a link to the report as it shows on the screen? I had

My Tasks (tasks.aspx) doesn't work on my machine, but does on othe
It would appear that something on my machine has broken. When I go to the
homepage of our project server site it won't even load if the My Tasks
webpart is on the page. If I remove it and reload the page everything works
fine. All of the other users in my dept are able to get to the page whether
My Tasks is on the page or not. Any thoughts?
I am the admin (I know, I know, I should be able to fix this, I'm the admin)

Unable to view a project in Project Center
Once I click on Project Center to view all active projects within Project
Center I choose the particular project I wish to view. At that point,
project center gives me a blank page. Not sure what I did, but I was able to
view the project plan itself at that point.

Circular Link Errors in Server
Hello,
I've opened a master plan and I have duplicate links in the
predecessors...that's right...exact duplicates! I delete one of the links
and it tells me that I cannot delete the link because there is a circular
reference. I remove both links and again, it tells me there is a circular
reference and I cannot do that.
There are no linked summary bars.
Has anyone encountered these "fake" circular links in a master plan?

Color format not saved in MS Project 2007
A PM reported that color format used in his project files disappeared from
project server after it's level loaded against other projects in the server.
Is this an error? This seems to happen when you select color formatting from
the Gantt view.

We currently use EPM 2007 and will be upgrading to Project Server 2010 soon!
Looking for some guidance in what happens when a "concept" (project) moves
from the Portfolio to the actual Project schedule (EPM) in terms of:-

I saved a global.mpt file from a prior life and now want to use it in my
current situation. I also have a global (+ non-cached enterprise) file here

Costom Field to PWA Site Template
Hi,
I have a Custom Field with lookup Table having the name of the Project
server Site Template now i want to create a WSS Site based on the Custom
Field values...
Which i was able to create it, but i am not able to link it with the Project
server as only those site can be linked which temaplte is there in the
workspace provisioning settings...

Comments/suggestions on creating a Training RBS?
Has anyone any experience with creating a Training RBS on a production
MS Project Server instance?
My concept/hope is that I could expose students to the production
configuration yet create project plans and capture labor which would
be viewed and reported as training only. I would assign the students
to the Training RBS and subsequently move them into their actual
production RBS.
I am hoping to avoid creating a separate "training" server by this
approach yet allow me to filter out the Training projects and
timesheet entries created during training sessions from "real" work in

Resources across different clients/projects
Hi,
This is a pre-sale question: My company has several clients we do work for.
One client wants to have access to schedules online. With MS Project Server,
can I set up resources and access for this client's projects, while
maintaining the same set of resources for all my other clients? Can I set up
this clients access so they only see their project schedules?

User error when attempting to create timesheet
Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

EPM2007 My Tasks View Options Not Holding
I am currently experiencing a problem on the My Tasks page. When users change
their view options to what they want to see and go to another page or log off
and then return to My Tasks, the settings do not hold. This is very annoying
for them, but i can't duplicate it on my machine. My options hold when I
change them. Does anyone know what might be causing this and where or what
settings I can check to correct this problem. I would tyhink when you change
you view options, they should remain changed for all as mine do. Any insight

Resource Usage (Resource Plan Work vs. Project Plan Work)
In Project Server 2007 Data Analysis... I am trying to get a total of

Stops publishing at 95%. Any idea on resolving error id="26000"
One of the projects stops publishing at around 94% and it cannot be accessed
anymore. Here is the error.
