Combine 2 presentations w/o losing hyperlinks?
I have 2 large presentations, each has hyperlinks within the presentation.
Each pres also hyperlinks to the other. How can I package the 2 files so the
hyperlinks are intact? Using ppt2007. I know I've done this before using ppt
2000 or 2002 but I can't remember how.

Copy-Paste problems with PPT 2007 SP2
I'm having font problems with ppt. Here's what happens.
1. I copy a string of text from another program (a bibliographic reference
from EndNote, as it happens) with italics in the middle and non-italic text
on either side.
2. I paste it into a text block in ppt. All the text from the first italic
through the end of the text comes up in italics.
3. I paste the same text into a new msg in Outlook. All the fonts are correct.
4. I copy the text from Outlook, and paste it into ppt. Now it's fine.
Step 3 shows me that the font information is contained in the original text,

How do I get an action button on power point slide to play a DVD?
I need to play a DVD leadership video in the middle of a power point
presentation. I would like to learn how to place an action button on the 7th

PPT 2010 truncates audio when saving as video
Hi
I have Office 2010 beta and working in PPT 2010 I have an audio file from
the clipart gallery in wav format that plays throughout the entire
presentation. HOwever, when saving the file as a video, the sound is
truncated after 2 loops which is about halfway through the second slide.
The file is stored locally, have tried a different sound file, have tried
compressing the media before converting. The audio is set to play beyond the
duration of the presentation.

I have people send me a pps in email. I am using windows live mail on
windows 7. windows live mail will not run pps. If I save the file and
click on in then it will run the slide show. What is the problem and how do

Printing without white borders
I am trying to print from Power Point. Slide has a Blue backround. When ever
I print it on a white page, preview/print shows a white boarder. I have tried
selecting scale to fit paper, it reduces that white boarder but still there.
How can I print whole page with Blue backround? Thanks

Powerpoint 2000 equation editor
My daughters old computer is running XP with Powerpoint 2000. She
has a need to use the equation editor for a school project, but it
does not appear to be installed. I looked in Insert/Object and there
was nothing there.
So, where do I get it and how do I install it? Is there a version
for 2000 or would current equations 3.0 work?

When we are opening a PowerPoint 2003 file in PowerPoint 2007,the tables of a
slide were overlapped in PowerPoint 2007.We are unable to understand that
"why the tables are overlapping in PowerPoint 2007?".This was happened only
for this slide apart from all slides. Please help us to know the reason.
Note:If you are clicking distributing columns evenly tab of tables in
PowerPoint 2003, then the tables were overlapped in PowerPoint 2003.But the

Adding Animations in Slide Sorter View
In PowerPoint 2003 I was able to add animation schemes to multiple slides at
the same time in Slide Sorter view. I can't seem to find a way to do that in
PowerPoint 2007 and have to add them one slide at a time. Has Microsoft
degraded that capability or am I missing something?

Playing movie clips from the original DVD movie disc in a presenta
We have been able to secure licensing to use certain movies in our business
presentations, however these licenses of course don't permit the use if you
rip it from a dvd.
We typically will have 4-6 movie clips we use in a presentation and were
trying to find a way to play them directly from the dvd disc (which is
allowed under the license). So I didn't know if there was a way to bookmark
spots on DVD's in the presentation so you didn't have to find the right spot
every time? Or maybe there is a third-party software that can do this? I am
willing to minimize my presentation

How to record which objects a user clicks on
Hi,
New to the forums here. I would like to know how to track which
objects a user clicks during a powerpoint presentation. I realize this
will probably require a macro and that is where I need help. I'm
fairly tech savvy, but I don't know how to program in VB.
Whenever there is a mouseclick on an object in the slideshow, I would
like two things to happen:
1) Advance to a particular slide (which I see can be set easily in the
program)
2) Write data, to a separate file (it can be a text file), that
reports which object was clicked. This would happen in the background

PP 2003: Problem with slide masters
I have a presentation I've created in Powerpoint 2003. It has 6
different masters. When I make a change to a master, shouldn't I see
that change reflected in the slides that are using that master? What
I'm seeing instead is the change being applied only to the slide that
happened to be selected when I changed to the Slide Master view, even
when I choose to "apply to selected slides."
Newly created slides, of course, are correct.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hi everyone,
Sometimes edit data in Excel charts that are pasted in PP are grayed out ,
for example I have a PP that has 4 Excel charts 3 of them I can click on edit
data and change the data for the chart but one of the charts the option of
edit data is disabled . How can I enable this function?

How do you ungroup charts in Powerpoint 07?
I'm trying to ungroup a chart in Powerpoint 07 like you would ungroup an
object.
You used to be able to do it in previous versions by right-clicking on the
chart and then selecting ungroup.

PowerPoint custom animation autopreview doesn't work
In PowerPoint 2003, the "Play" button in the custom animation window would
actually play the slide and you could watch the advanced timeline. In
PowerPoint 2007, with the AutoPreview selected, clicking play doesn't do
anything but show the slide without the animation. To see the animation you
have to click slideshow and of course, you don't get to see the timeline.
Why was this VERY useful feature was disabled?

Import animation slide
I have created a powerpoint presentation using my companies template slides.
I have imported a slide with an animation from another person's presentation.
However, the "picture" of the animation that came into my presentation
doesn't line up on the template slide properly. It overlaps our company
logo. I am unable to move this "picture" of the animation. Can that be
moved?

Excel Macro's extended to a worksheet on ppt slide
Hello,
I've written some VBA code and added it to my personal.xlsb file - which
everything works great in excel. However, when I insert an Excel
Macro-Enabled Worksheet into a PPT slide the macro's are not available to
that embedded worksheet. This has worked in the past, but for some reason it
stopped working. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Format Painter just won't work
When ever I highlight a text box that has the format I want to use somewhere
else in the presnetation and click on Format Painter and then click on the
text I want to change ... NOTHING Happens.
This is in PP 2007 and VISTA.
Why?
Could follow that methodology in all previous PP versions.

Toggle presenter view and full desktop copy
Consider the case where - besides a presentation - you'd also like to show
live demos of some software. I really like presenter view as it helps a lot
during the slide based part. However, once I come to the "and now for the
demo" slide, I'd need a one click solution (preferred) to toggle between
presenter view (with projector being used as "second monitor") and mirroring
my desktop for the demo. Is there a way to achieve this?

Generate 12 random numbers
Is it possible to generate 12 random numbers (numbers 1 - 12) independently
(no numbers repeated) in 12 independent shapes (one number per shape) by the
click of a single button? I can come up with the code to generate 12 random
numbers, but with my code there's always the chance that some of the numbers

Is there a way to tell if currently the slide show is running or not.
I was trying to use ActivePresentation.SlideShowWindow.View.State
but this gives me an exception when stopping the slide show.

VBA- Deleting a file problem...
'Anyone know of a way to run a command line from within PPT without
calling to an external BAT or CMD file? I'm trying to simply delete
some folders within which is an addin that my code already unloaded
and removed and unregistered, and now I want its folders deleted
(within the same PPT session that started the macro). But PPT holds on
to the addin file thinking it's still being used (which it's not) and
won't let RmDir or Kill code remove it. BUT I can make it run a CMD
file consisting of "RMDIR C:\foldername /s /q" and it works fine. The

connect powerpoint and excel
I am currently making a presentation of our products on powerpoint. ( Each
slide with one product image and description such as
p_code,Composition,Price). I have an Excel file where i calculate prices in
Euro & Dollar. I want to be able to connect the cells in excel with
corresponding product slide on powerpoint. I want to do this to avoid
repetition of work when the price changes, due to fluctuations in forex, to
automatically reflect on the corresponding slide. I have close to 200 slides
and it keeps growing.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hyperlinks
My presentation is ready (for my college final), one problem exists though.
My hyperlinks to websites work but open the IE window behind the slide and

A slider to adjust the speed of a cutom animation
I have a simple animatin that moves back and forth on the screen from left to
right. I would like to add a slider so that the user can speed up the
animation and slow it down based upon he slider. Is this possible?
The animation speeds that are selectable in the custom options are .5, 1, 2,
3. I would like it to move up in more steps than this. For example I would
like the range to be between .5 and 2 with .25 steps. Perhaps I am in over
my head. This is what I would like.

Cycling pictures on title slide
Hello! I am trying to get a continuous cycle of about 3 photos fading in and

I NEED HELP to repeat a cycling of photos on one slide...
Hello! I am currently in the process of putting together a presentation and
for the first slide I need a cylce of about 3 photos fading in and fading
out one after the other and then I need the process to repeat until the
meeting is ready to begin and the presenter can move on to the next slide (so
all who are coming into the meeting will see this cycle of photos on the
screen). Is there a way i can continuously repeat this cycle on the one slide
until the next click?

Using 1 slide multiple times in a presentation
Hello All,
I have a peculiar question. We use a presentation running a loop on a kiosk
to display the Targets, Goals, etc. This information is updated Daily.
Management wants the summary slide (slide No. 1) displayed every 4th slide.
Rather than having duplicates we tried using the Custom Show, however at the
end of the show, when the loop to the first slide happens, the show enters
into a loop with the last call to slide 1 and the remaining slides left.
For example: Slide 1,2,3,1,4,5,1,6,7,1,6,7,1,6,7.....
How can I correct this?

Pivot Charts from Excel not to update automatically
Hi there,
I have a pivot chart in Excel and want to copy this to Powerpoint.
Copy>Paste obviously works fine but as soon as I change the pivot table
feeding the chart, e.g. adding row data it updates the chart in powerpoint.
How can I prevent this from happening as I want to copy>paste different
variations of the pivot chart into one powerpoint presentation? As soon as I
do this it updates all graphs in the presentation to whatever the pivot chart
is showing at that time...

Notes in Presenter View
When I create a presentation, I tend to make my notes a little fancier
then usual for the presenter (various bullets, different indent
levels, etc). When I go to view the presentation in Presenter Mode
so the presenter can see the notes, the formatting does not
transfer. Is this normal? Is there a way around it so I don=92t have
to reformat?

Run PowerPoint 2007 in background
Hi. I'm setting up a PC for a museum that displays a .pps on continous loop
on screen 2, while at the same time running a DVD on screen 3. Screen 1 is
for administration. The problem I have is that if the PowerPoint-window is
no longer active, the slideshow stops. So if I have to do anything admin
stuff on screen 1 the .pps pauses 'til I activate the window again. To make
matters worse I don't even see screen 2 from where the PC itself is... In
other words; can I run PowerPoint in background?

Live Video in a Powerpoint 2007 presentation?
Hello,
I have a Microsoft LiveCam Cinema USB camera attached to my Windows 7 laptop
and PowerPoint 2007.
I'd like to build a slide where the video feed from the camera shows up live
in the slide. Sound is not important.
Is this possible? If so, suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated.

I have added music to a ppt to play across slides and loop until stopped.
When I run the presentation it takes until the 3rd or 4th slide to start. It
is a midi file about 28K. What am I am I doing wrong? I want the music to
start when the presentation starts.

Distortion of Excel in PowerPoint?
the last couple of months I have had trouble pasting from Excel into
PowerPoint. If I want to enlarge the worksheet, the cells stretch out of
proportion or if I change the data in a cell the font gets distorted. I did
not have any issue with this until February 2010

After we break a linked object like a chart from excel in PP, can we relink
it again using VBA?

2003 docs opened in 2007
every time I open a powerpoint document that was saved as a 2003 version in
2007, the fonts are always messed up -- To the point that the document is
almost unreadable. be above the actual cursor and are difficult (at best) to
edit and correct... my office is still half on 2003 half on 2007 so this is
creating some issues...

How to add hyperlink in a same PPT
Hello,
I have one big PPT file contain more then 30 slids, I want to make hyperlink
with in the same PPT. but the trick is I want to link with few continuous
pages and then again wanted to come up on the same page from where i have
started the hyper link.
Scenario:
1) suppose I have a PPT of 10 slides.
2) I put hyper link on slide number 2 and link to slide 4
3) now when i reached to slide 4 then i will go to slide 5 but after this it
should not allow me to go to slide 6 th
i want that it should only send me back to slide 2nd . no other slide can be

Hyperlink changes when emailed...?
I write reports for dissemination through a network drive. The main report
has multiple hyperlinks in it to secondary reports. Whenever I email the main
report to my customers, they have been able to open it (Powerpoint 2003) and
scroll through the report. The included links in the main report would send
them to the various secondary reports they needed to view.
Now when I try to email this main report, it changes all the hyperlinks to a
local folder on my PC (C:/Document and Settings/Temporary Internet.....)
Why would the links be reset to a different destination whenever the

With PowerPoint 2007, in 2003 Compatibility mode
I've inherited a file with two slides with similar simple 2-d column
charts that apparently were imported somehow from Excel (I assume this
because when I create fresh charts the tools are completely
different). With both, the object that contains the chart is sized
5.16h x 8.5w. on chart A, the y-axis scale is 0-5000, on B it's
0-4000, with major units at 1,000 for each. With A, the actual length
of the y-axis is, let's say, 5". With B, it's 4".
I want the actual length of the two axes to be the same. If I stretch

Embedded Visio (and other) objects in ppt, but app not available?
I've embedded Excel/Word/Visio objects in my powerpoint slide deck.
This allows me to doctor the content using the source applications
without creating separate external files for those objects. However,
there is no guarantee that the venue at which I present the powerpoint
slides will have the apps (Excel, Word, Visio). Mind you, they are
likely to have Excel and Word, but not so much Visio. I remember
running into similar snafu in the past, but I don't recall exactly
what the limitation was when the Visio app is not present. I am also

PowerPoint 2010: Note page into pdf problem
In my post "Note page view into pdf" I've discussed my problem already. And
Steve provided me a solution for PowerPoint2007 (Thanks again, Steve).
But now:
I've just tried PowerPoint 2010 beta.
By default the feature of printing node pages into pdf is still that bad
like in PP2007.
The macro of Steve still works, but finally when I print out the resulting
notepages I again only have an image of the slide on the nodepage.pdf
This is driving me crasy.
What is wrong???
Maybe it is to early to discuss PP2010 things here. If so let me know.

Pause Indicator
In slide show view, with slides on a timer and manual mode slected...
I would like to place an indicator on the screen when the "S" or "+" key has
been pressed (i.e. the hold keys) so you can tell the show HAS been paused.
Is this possible ?

Split body text between two slides in PowerPoint 2007
I would like to split body text between two slides the way the instructions
say I should be able to do. That is, I would like to be working in the
Outline tab, position the Insert point, and press the Enter key.
This does not work for me. Instead of splitting the slide into two, I just
get a new blank slide after the slide I'm trying to split. Does anyone know
what I'm doing wrong, or are the instructions just wrong?

Delay in starting embedded music track
I have several shows created with PP 2003. They include an embedded .wav
music track. The .wav file was converted from .mp3 by adding a RIFF header
using CDex software. To embed the music track, I have tried both
1) Insert | Movies and Sounds | Sound from file... | find and select | and
click "Automatically" to start
and
2) Design | Slide Transition | Modify transition | Sound | Other sound |
find and select.
In all cases, regardless of which embed method I use and on which slide I
embed the music track, there is a 3 or 4 second delay before the music
actually starts.

Powerpoint Viewer 2007 Insecure?
Hi
I have Office 2007 installed in W 7 64 bit.
When I run Secunia, it tells me that
"Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007
This installation of Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 is insecure
and potentially exposes your system to security threats!"
I've gone to add/Remove apps and find no way to selectively remove this
viewer.
Questions:
a) Is this a needed part of Office 2007?
b) If not, how do I get rid of it?

I couldn't save my power point 2007 into removable flash drive. When I tried
to save it the save as menu is not highlighted and the system won't give me
any menu that I could save the file.

I am trying to creat a geneological chart but I can only find information on
the organization chart the two are different because you start with two
people on the top and the next level could have as many as 6 boxes or
children. I have had a hard time keeping the boxes the same size and moving

Embedded Excel Graph links changing upon updating links/opening
I have multiple charts in an Excel Worksheet (instead of having a tab for
each) and I have pasted these charts into a Power Point presentation as "Link
- MOE Chart Object". While open, I can update links and everything works
properly, however, once I close and reopen the PPT and update the links, all
of the charts pasted from one worksheet all show the information from just
one of the charts. When looking at the links, they all say "worksheet chart
3".
When I have a tab for each, the links work fine, but then I have 100 tabs.

Chart in PowerPoint 2007 linked to Excel
I want to create a chart in PowerPoint that will allow me to link into Excel
to update the Series headers.
When I create a chart in PowerPoint 2007 Excel opens side by side with
PowerPoint. In the Excel spreadsheet I want to link the Series 1, Series 2,
etc. into another Excel file so that if I change the Excel file the chart in
PowerPoint will update.
In the side by side window of Excel (next to PowerPoint) I click in cell B1
(where it says Series 1) and enter a formula such as =[ExcelSource]Sheet1!b1
it doesn't create the link - instead it shows the value 0.

PPT 2007: Accepting Tracked Changes
In Office 2007, when I accept a tracked change, the cursor is automatically
moves to the next tracked edit. I want to see what the changed part of the
document looks like BEFORE moving ahead. Is there a way to change this

Why do my shaded boxes print incorrect colors and streaks?
When I try to print a color slide to our color Xerox printer, the shaded
boxes print with incorrect colors, plus put streaks through the middle of the
page. We have tried printing to a post script driver and PCL driver.

Under custom animation the Re-Order arrows are greyed out. Fix?
I am running PowerPoint 2007. I have custom animations and have a Camedia
Add-in to record the slide show. Unfortunately, the Re-Order buttons at the
bottom of Custom Animation are greyed out (as is "Re-Order"). How can I get
the Re-order buttons back?

Powerpoint and Smarboard help
I have a presentation/game that runs fine without my smartboard but will only
run fine at times when I connect the smartboard (e.g., sometimes it works and
sometimes not). It's a very simple game where the player just touches a
picture that they believe is the correct answer. The game does involve a
running clock which is what I believe is causing the problem, but have no
clue as how to fix. If the clock is not running the game will work with the
smartboard, but if I start the clock (i.e., countdown) the game will only
work some of the times. Just wondering if anyone has had

narration issues with animation
I have a presentation sent to me by my boss. I have tried to narrate it and
have run into several issues.
1) I would love for the narration to be continous and not stop and start
with each slide, I am coming to the conclusion after hours of trying to do
this that in order to do this I will have to record the audio file seperately
and insert it into the presentation on the first slide, this seems like a
pain but if it will work I will do it. I am afraid that if I record the
entire narration and then insert it, it will only play on the slide i insert
it on. is this true?

Help: Need color bars to not print, but to remain seen on a monito
Our current corporate PPT template has a full color cover page and on each
subsequent page has two thick blue bars (one at the top where we place our
headline text and one at the bottom with our logo and the page number). When
printing in color, how can I get the blue bars to not show up on the print
out but to remain on the on-screen version. It is important that the cover
page remain full color, we just want to save toner on the subsequent pages.
In addition to removing the blue bars, I would need to be able to make sure
that the text printed on top of the blue bars then prints

How do I view notes on the Web
I need to make my ppt shows available to a lot of people, so I'm
uploading them to my website, is it possible for me to have not only

Converting Animations to Individual Slides
I need a way to convert a slide with builds into multiple slides, one slide
for every stage of the animation(s). e.g. a slide with 2 text boxes, where
the second box comes in after the presenter clicks forward would need to be 2
slides, one with just the 1st box, and one with both boxes. It would need to
be automated so it can be done on an entire deck of slides and I cannot find
a tool that does this.
*We run synchronized presentations from multiple machines. One machine must
convert the slides for web distribution using an unknown method, but smart
art is usually ruined or

Power Point Viewer
PP Viewer opens the pps file and plays the music but doesn't show the slides
or for that matter alter the desktop view in any way. I can not find a single
response anywhere from any one else having this problem.

Number size
PPT XP 2007
I am fairly new to PPT. I have created a template. When I use it and copy a
list into the PPT slide and click Numbering, it always inserts the numbers at
115%. I want the numbers to be 100%. I have tried to change the Master slide,
but there are no slides with a top level number so I don't know where to
change it. (I did change it on the Home/Paragraph/Numbering byt that didn't
work.) I have right-clicked/numbering on the slide and changed the percentage
there but it doesn't stick.
What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate specific instructions so that I

Guidelines Disappearing when scrolling page or they are moved
We have Office 2007 SP1. SP2 is not compatible with some of our software, so
we are unable to udate.
As stated the guidelines (not grid lines) will be showing, if we scroll the
page, or move the lines they will disappear or stop working. The only occurs
if shapes (text boxes and lines) are inserted.
I found this article/fix, but it only works with SP2.

PivotTable in PowerPoint
I am attempting to place a Pivot Table in my presentation that is linked to
an excel spreadsheet. However, there is no option for me to do this. I have
attempted to copy and paste, insert a table, and I have gone to the Developer
option and the "more controls" tab, but the Microsoft Office PivotTable
option is not available. Is this hidden somewhere or is this possible?

PPT2007 Charts and VBA
I remember coming across a problem with charts in a VBA program I have
written when the customer upgraded to 2007. Looking into the matter, I
came across the listing at PPTTools which mentions that 2007 charts

At the time, I believe a coworker had checked the 'Convert' when
editing a chart, and it no longer worked with the program I had
written. Now the same charts seem to be working again when they are
converted, or even created as brand new charts in 2007 with the same

VBA_ font name "+mj-lt"
Hi every one,
I use .Font.name="+mj-lt" to apply heading and body text font , but later
when I check the same font using
If .Font.Name = "+mj-lt" Then

it can't recognize the heading font although it prints the same name and in
fact its the same font.

but this return not only *.ppt file but also *.pptx file !

I'm not sure if this is possible but I have a list of information in an excel
table and I'd like to auto matically generate a slide for each row of data.
for instance, I have a list of products and each product is on it's own row
with 6 product features in the following columns. How can I take that info
from excel and create a features slide for each product using the information
from the following columns.
