Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and RMS 1.3R

  • Follow

Not sure if it can be done, but no matter what i try, installed sql2k5,
updates, run in compatibility mode (Win XP SP2), and I always get the same
message - ...Store Operations install interupted...

I just need to run the manager (from the backoffice)....any ideas?

Thanks

Angelo,
We have had the same results. We think it is more to do with 64-bit than it
does Windows 7.

Angelo,

With Vista 64 and RMS 1.3, it wouldn't work with the dongle.

Why are you installing SQL when you only need Manager anyway? Just skip =
the SQL install and then download and install the SQL Native Client and =
Backward Compatibility Components from here http://tinyurl.com/yexa454 =
Remember to get the x64 versions of both.

I really didn't have any intention of installing sql, I figured maybe that
was hanging it up. I will give your suggestion a try.

Thanks

Nope, still won't install. For the heck of it, I tried installing 2.0, no
problem there.

Jeff is correct (as usual). XP Mode with Virtual PC is the answer if you need
to run RMS 1.2/1.3 Manager on a Win7 Pro 64-bit station. I've set this up for
several locations. Note that XP Mode is only available for Win7 Pro or higher
and the computer's processor must support virtualization (turned on in the
BIOS). Once it is set up you can run RMS 1.2/1.3 directly from Win7. The
virtual machine runs in the background so the first time you open RMS it
takes a minute for XP Mode to boot up. Pretty slick solution imo.

I haven't tested the dongle with XP Mode but it does provide USB support so
I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. I'm assuming the same holds true for
USB peripherals but I haven't tested that and really they should just upgrade
to 2.0 if they are going to Win7 on the registers.

Gentlemen,

Thank you both for the suggestion - I will test it out this week.
