And constant notices when replying to emails that a picture is not
showing up.
I think my settings are correct.
This problem began a few days ago--until then I could see pics.
Is it a msft update problem?

It's not an update. You haven't even installed Service Pack 3 yet.
Are you having trouble receiving and sending pix? Make sure you are
sending and reading in HTML and not plain text.
Tools | Options | Send | HTML Settings. Check: Send pictures with
messages.
Send a pix to yourself. Do you see it both in Sent Items and the Inbox?

Yes, settings are correct.
I was able to send myself a picture which I could see...only in the inbox.
Still a mystery...

You were able to see the picture in the Inbox, but not in Sent Items?
Double check that.
Did you attach or insert the picture?

I used to see this phenomenon. I don't think I tried to fix this. The
probnlem went away, but I could not pinpoint when and why.
Possibly after a Windows (XP) reinstallation and/or a new service pack..
Currently on Win XP SP3 fully patched, AFAIK, OE 6.

So sorry! Failed to mention that when I sent it, it went out from Windows
Live mail which automatically opened when I tried to send it.....and I don't
know why WLM does that either! Maybe I should uninstall Wi Li Mail???
Must have been inserted ,, showed up in the email body.

When you installed WLMail, it became the default e-mail client. Unless you
want to keep it that way, make OE the default again.
Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults |
Custom + Down Arrow | Select the radio button for Outlook Express.
Make OE the default e-mail client:
http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx
For links in e-mail:
http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx
And:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098
Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm
If you have MS Outlook installed, also see #13:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13
"Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default:
