Characters deleting forward - WHY?

  • Follow

Sometimes my OE takes a fit and decides to delete characters forward of the
cursor each time I type a new one - when I want to insert a word in an
already typed line it starts deleting ahead - understand? Can anyone help
and tell me if I have caused it myself without knowing what I did? John

That's a Word feature. Hit the Insert key. That should untoggle it.

Look for a key on your keyboard marked 'Insert' (or Ins).
Layouts vary. However, the key will probably be towards the top
right hand corner of your keyboard.

Pressing 'Insert' toggles all data input between the normal
(Insert) mode and overwrite mode. You have probably pressed the
key inadvertently. Incidentally, it affects all programs - not
just Outlook Express.

The insert bug strikes again!

This happens when you accidentally hit the Delete key. Just hit the
Insert key as ted suggested.
