IE 9 - Any Spec pages to see what it's going to be like ?

I have Win XP3 / 64-bit......IE6 I have tried IE 8 but didn't like it, so went back to the tried and true. Seems now sites are not supporting IE6 so we user won't be able to see their sites without upgrading. Is there any spec page that will tell us what it's going to have and not have ? My dislike of IE8 was the way the favorites showed up when you wanted to save a link. IE6 it opened with just the folders and made it very easy to find where you wanted to put the link. OE6 stopped printing

I haven`t printed any thing for a while but the last time it was fine, the print button is not greyed out but when I click it ......nothing no error messages. File>Print and Ctrl>Print is the same, but if I click Addresses>Print it will print my address book. Every time I open and read my mail when i click on and try to read an email how do i explain this, the window monitor or graphics colors on the screen and outlook express scrambles and i can not read anything. This only happens with outlook express not any other programs and not my monitor screen. When this happens i have to quickly go to start and restart my computer even the start on the task bar is fuzzy and i have to be quick to restart as the monitor screen becomes unrecognizable. Can this mean the outlook express is corrupted?. My computor is Windows XP

changing name of sender

I forwarded some emails from another computer to my main computer. Now the main computer has the wrong sender (place forwarded from, not original sender). "Send to" wants to open new MSN account instead of using OE?

Trying to help a friend over the phone with the following problem. When right clicking on a file and selecting "send to - mail recipient", Outlook came up instead of OE. Went into OE and found it was not selected as the default mail handler so selected "make default". Now, when right clicking a file and selecting "send to - mail recipient" a window comes up wanting to know if they want the MSN "butterfly" in the system tray. After selecting NO a MSN signup window appears. Shut down and powered back up but problem remains. Running OE 6 on XP SP3 and current on all the update

OE icons size changed w/Quicken & TurboTax

I've noticed this with my Outlook Express under XP. When I use either Quicken 2009 or TurboTax, the icons on my Outlook Express toolbar change. I normally have them as "small icons". But after using Quicken or Turbotax, the icons are BIG and shifted across the toolbar line such that my "Send/Receive" icon is no longer present. I seem to recall a DLL for these toolbar functions, and am guessing that Quicken loads a version that says "big icons", and Turbotax loads yet another DLL that says "huge icons". -- ---------------------------------- "If everything seems to be going

Spellcheck language

I am using Outlook Express 6. As long as the spellcheck was with Office 2000 or later with 2003, the spellcheck language in O E6 was English. Now that I have installed Office 2007, the only language in the Spellcheck options of O E 6 is French. Every word in my composed mail is checked with some French Dictionary and is found to be wrongly spelled by O E6. How do I get English language for spellcheck? P. Jayant

Having heard and read conflicting reports on using Outlook Express with IE8 I am hoping someone here can relate their own personal experience. At present we are running XP Pro with IE7 and Outlook Express. If we upgrade the browser to IE8 are we likely to encounter any difficulties using OE. Any advice appreciated.

Moving sub-folders from one parent folder to another

Is there a way to do this without having to drag the sub-folder to its new parent? (The Move commands seems to only apply to individual messages, or groups of messages.) The user's folder tree is very long, and she is sometimes unable to keep the button pressed while finding the drop point for the sub-folder being moved. Often this means things are dropped in the wrong place and this causes confusion for her.

OE6 not recognizing links

Windows XP, SP3 OE6, IE8 A recent development with no addons that might cause the behavior. When viewing messages with hyperlinks within, say a news clipping, clicking on the link does nothing. They are highlighted but clicking on them does not launch IE8. I am forced to copy the link and manually paste it ino the browser address window. Not sending

My OE isn't sending, even though it's receiving. It used to be fine, and it's been playing up for a few days. I haven't done anything to the settings. I don't know if it's relevant, but one of the accounts that I've got in my OE accounts won't receive email as the quota is full; but that's not the account I'm trying to send from. (And, if -- likewise -- it's relevant, I still have my old problem, which I described a couple of months ago, that it doesn't download [and never has downloaded] from the hotmail account that I have set up to send and receive in OE via the POP3 server.

No toolbar in OE6

We have XP Home SP3, IE8 and OE6. The toolbar in OE is not visible, and when we try to enable it, no checkmark appears and it does not appear. While we are fully functional with the menu, the toolbar is far more efficeint. Thanks in advance for any thoughts, Dan

sent items don't show who sent to

I made a subfolder under "sent items". Unlike the "Sent Items" folder, this new folder does not show "To" (i.e. who the message was sent to). When I changed the view to show "To", it then changed the "Inbox" so that it also showed "To" and no longer showed who a message is "From". Anyone know how to fix this? thanks, Huck

What is causing this?

My husband has Windows XP Home with Outlook Express. For some time now, Outlook Express has been automatically adding email addresses to his address book from everyone including spammers. I have checked the settings and they are no different than on my computer and mine works as it should. I have scanned for visurs, spyware, and malware but haven't found anything. I want to paste a page from MS Word (2003) into an email. The page includes borders, shadings and wingdings. I've just become part of a group that receives messages from various members at irregular intervals. All the email addresses of the group members are listed in the "to" window. How do I retain my OE folders and email history for future reference?

I have a ton of saved emails in OE. They are so valuable to me that when I bought a new computer, I bought one that had XP. I want to retain my historical emails that I copy them to a flash drive and then copy them to the proper Identity file on my new computer. How to set a mail rule to remove mail from server

Not sure why this doesn't work. What I am trying to do is stop any mail coming from facebook.com or facebookmail.com from arriving in my inbox. I have set up a mail rule that uses the option 'delete from server' if either of these domain names are present in the email I had expected them to never be downloaded, just removed from the server. What seems to be happening instead is that they are downloaded from the server and automatically placed into my 'deleted items' folder instead. Compaction Failure - .bak files vs .dbx files: offset 68Hex

I recently had a compaction process failure because when I was presented with the dialogue box that asked if I wanted to let OE perform a compaction, I mistakenly clicked on "OK" instead of "Cancel".
