IMAP and Outlook 2003
Hi you all!
I am running the current configuration:
Windows XP Pro SP2 clients with Outlook 2003 SP1 installed
Lotus Notes 6.5.2 messaging server running the IMAP protocol
Mail Accounts set up on the Outlook 2003 clients as an IMAP accounts
My issues are:
1. Unable to delete permanently the messages in the Inbox (they stay with a
bar in the middle)
2. Unable to create new Folders in the Inbox
3. Unable to access the addresses which are in the LDAP directory although I
did configure the access to the directory in Outlook (Tools, Accounts...,
New directory, etc.)
I'm fairly new to IMAP ...Cannot Connect to Database
Text of the error message:
Store Operations Business Rules
Requested operation requires an OLE DB Session Object, which is not
supported by the current provider.
SET TimeOut = GetDate(), Hours = DateDiff(mi, TimeIn, GetDate()) / 60.0
WHERE ID = ?
This only happens at one of my five stores, and only on my laptop. Nobody
else is having any trouble connecting to any database, and my laptop can
connect to the other four stores and HQ without issue.
Anybody got any ideas?

...HQ Server not a Windows Service
Much to our surprise, we've found that the RMS HQ Server (ver 2.0) is not a
Windows service and shuts down whenever the current user logs off the
computer on which it is running. From a security standpoint, we just don't
like having a user "forever" logged on just to run this application.
How do other HQ users deal with this? We'd like for the HQ processing to
mainly occur during times when our stores are closed and no users are logged
in to the computers.

Strange problem. I'm using MS Outlook 2002 (installed from the Office

Now, there is supposed to be a button under the Tools menu: "IMAP

Did you already set up the IMAP account via Tools | E-mail Accounts?

...Stop asking me to connect
I am using Outlook 2003. I exported my calendar content from my
desktop to my laptop via a pst file. I want to use outlook on the
laptop for the calendar only (at this time). When I fire up outlook,
it asks 3 times for my user info to connect to a mail server; I cancel
them all. I then banish away the warning message window which
complains about being unable to complete the tasks of connecting to
the server. Needless to say, this is a royal PITA. I hunted around
the options for a good long time, but the only ones that seemed to
lessen the problem is Tools->Options->MailSetup->Se...Sharing Calendars from the Server
We have a Windows 2003 Small Business Server with Exchange. The owner of
the company would like to have access to all his employees calendars (which
is less than 10 people). I know how to share out the calender by logging in
as a user and sharing it via Outlook, but is there a way to make the same
configuration changes from the server? I'd like to expodite the sharing
process (and learn a new trick)!
...Exchange server 2003 SP2 causes the information store on the new server to not be able to start.
During the course of an Exchange migration, my new Exchange server died
after applying SP2. It is a 2000 server domain with an existing 2000
exchange server. They are all SP4. The new server is a brand new Dell
2800 with Windows 2003 server standard with sp1 and all hotfixes
applied prior to the install of Exchange 2003 Enterprise.
After installing Exchange 2003 Enterprise, I installed SP2 and the
information store as well as all other key services cannot be
restarted. This happened during the course of an Exchange migration
project. After preparing the existing 2000 server domain using adpre...Front end server loses connection to backend
I had a firewall issue today and caused about a 30 minute outage between
my front end server and my backend server and DC's. When the firewall came
back online my front end server was completely hosed and needed a reboot. I
actually attempted to stop and start services first and even that was unable
to be done. Why would such a drastic failure occur because the firewall was
down for half an hour (or any length of time for that manner)? Does the
front end need constant connection for some reason? If so, why?
Which service(s) wouldn't shut down?

It's wee bit strange: I configured an IMAP account and
later deleted it. Now I see a a few IMAP messages (with
headers alone) in "My Outlook" Inbox (NOT IMAP Inbox, as
I don't have that anymore) that I want to purge.
But everytime I attempt purging MS Outlook asks me to
download the message, which I cannot as I don't have the
IMAP account anymore. I tried adding the IMAP account but
this time the IMAP messages are downloaded in the
designated IMAP Inbox.
Any thoughts will make my day!
...Outlook 2003, IMAP, two entries in Inbox
recently I have been forced by an IT change to move from using POP to
access my mail, to using IMAP. It's not going well so far :-)
I am very familiar with Outlook, have used it for years. I have a fully
updated, patched, SP2 version of Outlook 2003.
My problem is simple: I get two (different) entries in my Inbox folder
for each email received from the server if the Inbox folder view is
active when the email comes in.
One is tagged with the little icon that means "header only"
One is not.
If I click on the "header" tagged one, in the reading pane it tells me

we have problem with emails.
Sometimes somebody, often, has problem with emails (I have mentioned such
situations before). Outlook is f.e. on desktop, notices that connected to
our exchange server. But:
no new emails are coming.
What helps? Quit outlook and check, if it can be seen in taskmanager, kill
Outlook process in taskmanager, Outlook remains there, and start Outlook
To simply restart Outlook only helps not.
Can you advice us any better another solution? Thank you for help.

When I enable the IMAP server, I find that my users have to put the full
firstname.lastname@example.org username in their IMAP mail clients in order to connect to
the server, which of course makes sense but is pretty cumbersome..
If I turn the exchange server into a Domain Controller, will this allow
regular "username" at least for the domain that it would be a controller
If not (or if this is just not a good idea in general) is there some other
way to specify a default domain ?

...Connecting to a Paradox Database
I recently installed Access 2007 and I'm trying to link to a Paradox Database
table that is created by Paradox 7.
I follow the proper procedure to connect to the .DB table but when instead
of linking or importing I get the error: unexpected error from external

I'm a novice database user but I have done this before in Access 2003. I've
searched but cant find much information that is directly related to this
error in Access 2007.
Thanks for any help.
..."A connection could not be established"
I have installed the CRM Mobile successfully on an Xda Exec.
Upon entering login details, i am getting an error:
"A connection could not be established. Please try again later"
Can anyone help?
I suggest you review the 160 page MS Dynamics CRM Mobile installation guide,
but usually the problem is related to certificates and/or the base memory in
the device. The FULL mobile client requires a high amount of base memory and
it just isn't available on many devices.
You could also try the CRM MOBILE express client. Easier, WMI Compliant and
might work better.

Oh yeah...running EX 5.5 with the OWA on a W2K SRV box.

I have a user at work with a new PDA that is requesting their mail be

default to using SSL? Do I need to do anything on the Exchange side to set
this up correctly?
