Control panel>mail>general>The following profiles..........

  • Follow

Hi there,

MS Windows XP Home Edition

Version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435 : service pack 3)

copyright 2007

Control panel>mail>general>The following profiles are set up on this
computer:

(as per attachment)

What details should I enter, I used to be able to send web pages by email
(file>send>page by email, etc.) but it stopped out of the blue for some
reason.

Many thanks

Steve

Those options do not relate to each other or are you saying that you no
longer have Outlook configured with a mail account at all on your system?
The details that you need to enter completely depend on the ISP that you are
using. For an overview of the settings of some of the larger free email
account providers see;

Thanks for your reply,

When veiwing a web page, I used to be able to select (file>send>page by
email, etc), and outlook express would open with the link (URL) already
entered into the message pane.

Now when I try (file>send>page by email, etc) I get a message pops up
saying:-

No profiles have been created. To create a new profile, use the mail icon in
the control panel.

When I look in Control panel>mail>general>The following profiles are set up
on this computer:

There are NO details entered in the white window pane.....nothing at all!!!!

I guess they must be related in some way as the warning suggests so.

What should I enter in the dialogue pane?? When I click on "Add" a little
window pops up entitled "New Profile"

with "Create new profile" and "Profile Name" above a field where you can
input your details.

I could sent a screenshot if you would like

Many thanks

Steve

Aha, now it becomes clear; you want to use Outlook Express and not Microsoft
Office Outlook. Similar names but completely different beasts ;-)

You currently have Outlook set as your default mail handler which is
obviously not configured and which is why you are getting this prompt. The
Control Panel-> Mail apples also belongs to Outlook and not Outlook Express.

To change your default mail handler from Outlook back to Outlook Express
use;
Control Panel-> Internet Options-> tab Programs

Note that you are currently in a Microsoft Office Outlook forum.
If you need help with Outlook Express, here is the link for the correct
forum;
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

Good Luck!
