probably a dumb question I realize ....
But I did want to install 2010 side by side just to see if SPSS 18 can read
access files (can't without 64 bit ODBC on 64 bit machine)

If you have 64 bit machine then clearly you should download 64 bit Office
2010.
32 bit office won't (in fact can't) include 64 bit ODBC drivers.
