EMF plotting
Hi. I work with Geological modelling software that saves plots as emf or you
can print directly from the system. If you plot the save emf to a plotter the
scaling is not right. This is plotting from windows picture and fax viewer.

What in the #$% Office 2007 and user
Folks
What in the $%^ with office 2007 and WinXP Pro. Everything had been
working just fine. I decided I didn't want to use a login password to
the OS. Now all of Office 07 will not run, says not installed for
this user. I reenter the OS password and still Office says I have to
run the setup for this user. What in the #$%^%&! ?????? This is a
real pisser! Does anyone have an explanation or a fix?

Proofing tools for Office - German spell-checker
Hello,
I upgraded to Office 2007 (English version). I do a lot of work in German,
so I had to previously buy 2003 proofing tools to get the German
spell-checker.
The 2003 version won't install on top of 2007. I don't really want to go
through the hassle of trying to install Word 2003, then proofing tools, then
install Word 2007.
Is there some way of getting the German language tools with an English
version of Word 2007?

Format issues when saving file from .docx to doc
I am having formatting issues when saving a file into a previous version of
Word. The oriiginal document was created with the 2007 version and when I
"save as" 97-2003 version, it seems to lose the orignal format. It actually
puts the page number onto the next page but not at the top like you would
assume...it pushes it between text. Almost like the page margins at the
bottom are increased. I have tried to delete and cut and then paste but it
has changed the page size...or so it seems. I hope this makes sense

Office Help and Embeded links
Strange problem on one machine. Help files work, however, like the show all
link or any of the other links that show up, clicking on them does nothing.
All other machines are working with not problem, just this one.
Uninstall/reinstall does not work. It is not the customer feedback problem
or the default browser. Any ideas?

Link to File is not working. EMBEDs are displayed as icons.
I'm trying to create links to image files (.EMF .JPG .WMF) in Word 2007,
Excel 2007, and PowerPoint 2007. Instead of getting a LINK, I get an EMBED
Package.
Open a blank Word 2007 doc / Insert tab / on Text panel click Object button
/ Create from File tab / Browse... to the file / turn on "Link to file" /
click OK.
Depending on the image file type, I either get an icon and filename, or just
the filename. Pressing Alt-F9 shows that it got inserted as an "EMBED
Package", not a "LINK".
If I perform the same steps to link to a Word or Excel file, the complete
doc or spread

Missing Clip Art options Web & Shared Collections are not showing
In Office 2007, when going to Insert>Clip Art the only options available to
Search in are My Collections and Office Collections Both Web Collections
and Shared Collections are missing. Can anyone provide assistance with this?

is it possibly to insert a path in a template and everytime someone uses
that template, the path is automatiquely changed? i mean if it saves the
new document in other location, the path is automatiquely updated?

What software can track time and alert me when time is up?
I am looking to set up a log that would allow me to enter a start and end
time associated with a person. Almost like an Excel spreadsheet. But would

I have upgraded to Windows 7 and am trying to download WinHlp32.exe for
Office from the MS web site. I've validated and jumped through the hoops, but
as is so often the case Microsoft has left me hanging. See, there is no link
to download WinHlp32.exe as such, only to a choice of two:
Windows6.1-KB917607 - 64.msu or Windows6.1-KB917607 - 86.msu. It says to
download the version most suitable, but doesn't tell you how to tell. It
tells you how to identify whether you have a 32bit or 64bit version of W7,
which I know anyway, but how does that relate to a 64.msu/86.msu choice?

Office 2003
I purchased Office small business 2003 upgrade to replace the temporary
trial version when I bought my laptop but I have had to reformat the hard
drive on that laptop and I don't have the trial version anymore so the
upgrade is useless to me. Do you have any suggestion on how I could resolve

Weird printing. Request more than 1 copy, only 1 copy prints
Win 7 Pro / Office 2007 SP2 - all fully patched
Seems issues with Office 2007 printing are accumulating.
I can print 1 page in any office application but if I request more than 1
page, still only 1 page prints. Repair and reinstall did nothing to help.

If I recieve an email with a link to a web site it will not open
when clicked, but if I copy and paste it into IE8 it will open.

Outlook 2007 "Blocked File Type" Error
I have 50 identical HP dc7900 workstations running XP Pro SP3 and Office 2007
Professional SP2 on domain. All 50 have the following Office 2007 .adm files
added in the c:\windows\inf folder: excel12.adm, office12.adm, outlk12.adm,
word12.adm, ppt12.adm. All 5 of these .adm templates have been added under
"User Configuration / Administrative Templates" in gpedit.msc. I am using the
Word, Excel & PowerPoint .adm files to "block the saving of .xml file types".
While no such policy setting exists for Outlook 2007, when users close out of

Tips for Uninstalling Microsoft Works?
My new Windows 7 computer arrives soon, and it will include Microsoft Works
9.0. I intend to replace Works with a copy of Office 2007 that I separately
purchased.
I will uninstall Works before I install Office 2007. Is there anything else
that needs uninstalling, for example an Activation Agent? Any special tips
for ensuring a clean uninstall of Works 9.0? I'm hoping to avoid problems
when I install Office 2007.

Word won't retain custom settings
Win XP Home. MS Office 2003
Normally MS Word would always display the same view as when I left it.
However just recently, it has decided to display settings which I did not
select.
These are, the Vertical and Horizontal Rulers, no Text Boundaries,
and 150% Zoom instead of my "standard" 95%.
I have tried Repair MS Office and Reinstalled Word, neither of which made
any difference.
If I change these settings manually and log out of Word,
they are retained for the current session,
but next time the PC is booted, the incorrect settings re-appear.
Any suggestions please.

Can i use Office on a U3 stick?
I have ab Sandisk Cruzer Micro with 4GB. I added U3 to it. My question is,
now, you can only run U3 software on the stick. Not even portable ones. U3
software comes as an *.u3p. It has its own platform to be run on Launchpad.
Can you convert Office to U3P portablity?

Question: Can Excel arrange items in 'alpaphabetical' order all at once if
items are all put into one column after a person is through inputting them?
Or must everything be input in 'alphabetical' order?

Can't send email from Excel or Word or Powerpoint

For some reason, I can no longer send emails using the send command in any
of Word, XL or PPT. I get error messages in each which are slightly
different but which are:
WORD - Logon failed. You must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your
address book. Error code: "Unspecified error".
EXCEL - General mail failure. Quit Microsoft Excel, restart the mail system
and try again.
PPT - There was a general failure with the email system and this action
could not be completed.

When I reformat my hard drive and reinstall Office, it takes me a good deal
of time to tweak the toolbars, menus, etc., the way I want them. Is there a

Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current setup
I cannot print from any MS office 2007 application on either printer I have
(Xerox and HP). This leads me to believe it is an MS Office problem and not a
problem with the printers and/or companies. I have a new computer running Win
7 64 bit and I can print from any application that is not Office (Adobe,
Photoshop…) I get this error message: “Windows cannot print due to a problem
with the current setup”

Problems with Office Professional 2007
Hi. I have recently installed Office Professional 2007 onto my computer, and
eveery time I open up any of the programs I get a window come up headed
Windows Installer - then msg saying Preparing to install, then another window
headed M/S Office Standard 2007 with msg Error 1308 etc etc. I press cancell
and box with error 1311 comes up. If I cancel all these boxes, eventually
the programme will open, but the boxes start to appear again, I cancel them
again and then the programme is ok to use. Does anyone have any ideas
please. Should I uninstall and then re-install?

Print Error: Windows cannot print due to a problem with the curren
Situation:
Windows Vista SP1 [ya, I know], Office 2007 Home & Student SP2 - both fully
patched except SP2 for Vista. Samsung ML-2510 monochrome laser printer.
Outside of Office, printer functions fine. Can do a test print, print from
another application, etc. Have deleted the printer from Vista and it
re-installed fine. Have the latest driver as per manufacturer.
When trying to print from any Office application [OK tried Word & Excel, but
I'll assume all], I get the error message "Windows cannot print due to a
problem with the current printer setup".
Same issue with the XPS

Licensed User - Desktop + Laptop?
I have MS Office 2007 which was preinstalled on a Dell desktop. Diskettes
were also provided. I just purchased a laptop and tried to install using the
disks (I have my key number). Error message said the number was invalid.
Isn't a laptop a "portable device" as defined in the EULA? Thanks for your

Online Encryption of MS Office
Hi, and thank you for your help. :-)
What I would like to be able to do is add on and edit some files online from
2-3 different computers (all are Window 7 and all have Office 2007), and yet
have the files be secure, as they are my personal passwords (not my banking,
as I leave that to my memory) . Right now I have tried Dropbox, yet anyone
who has acess to my PCs, has acess to the Dropbox, and the website. I tried

Can't access PST file with Outlook 2010
I had a harddrive fail so I got a new harddrive and Windows 7 Pro too because
the machine is OEM. I had just backed up Outlook so I had a fairly recent PST
file. But now, when I try to import it, I get an error saying I don't have
the rights to access the file? Huh, I created it!!! So I thought well maybe I
have to log in as Admin bit couldn't see how to do it.
THIS IS REALLY SERIOUS AS I NEED THAT FOR MY BUSINESS!!!

Word and Excel open slowly from Windows Explorer
I am having a problem with office 2003.
If I have word or excel running and pick "file" "open" and pick a file there
is no problem at all - it opens immediately.
If I am in windows explorer and double click on it, it takes up to a minute
to open the file - this is the same for word or excel.
It is also the same from the desktop.
(Note: this does not include Power Point - It works fine)
This does not occur with any other file type - like .pdf's, .jpg's, etc they
all open immediately.

Office Icons - tweaking and saving - Is that possible?
The icons provided when installing Office leave, shall we say "something
left to whish for" ... Which leaves me with the task of editing them. I make
several toolbars, global and local, full of macros, each one with a separate
icon (no text - takes to much space). In order to successfully separate these
icons I need to make if not unique at least different. It’s tedious and
mundane, but once done - I'm happy again. That is until the computer
crashes...
Is there not a program, or something, that lets me save and by all means,
retrieve these icons?
I use the 03 version...

office 2007 cannot defrag
I have home office 2007. When I try to defrag a box opens which says ;Disk
fragmenter has detected a Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume c. Please
run Chkdsk /f., When i run Chkdskm a screen opens fo a second and then
closes.

Will Office 2003 Standard convert to Office 2007 Basic?
I bought a new laptop loaded with a trial version of Office 2007 Home and
Student. However, I already own a 32bit version of Office 2003 Standard. Can
I convert my 32bit Office 2003 Standard, which has Outlook, to work on my
64bit Windows 7 machine and use the 2003 product key?

Your administrator has disabled this command through group policy
Office 2007 in Options / Advanced / Display. The show this number of Recent
Documents is greyed out and has an information bubble which states:-
“Your administrator has disabled this command through group policy”
I am the administrator and I have no idea how I managed to turn this off. Or
what and where group policy is
Can anyone tell me how I can turn this back on please?

Re-installing Office 2007 on new computer
I got a new computer and need to re-install my Office 2007. I am a student
and got it from Microsoft via download. So, I have no disc to insert and
install. I do have the product key. I am having trouble finding a site
where I can re-enter my product key to get my Office 2007 Student version
back. Anybody have a website for me to use for my product key?? Thanks in

Viewing office2003 docs in Office 2007 - Windows7
Dear all,
I am using Office 2007 Professional Edition on Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have many documents created in Office 2003 and Open office which i am not
able to open in Office 2007.
I downloaded the Microsoft compatability pack -fileformatConverters.exe but
the installation returned an error - "Another version of this procuct is
already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue."

Office 2003 installation problem - not a valid Win32 application
A colleague is having problems installing Office 2003 on her machine. My
understanding is that it's a WinXP PC with all the updates.
She had a hooky copy of Office 2003 Professional for several years which the
MS Authentication Tool recently picked up, so she bought an OEM copy of
Office Pro, uninstalled the existing installation, then tried reinstalling
it from the brand new, sealed OEM disk. Unfortunately, as soon as she's
entered the product key, she gets the message "Not a valid Win32
application" and the setup ceases.

case no longer works, is that because it was previously registered on the old

Any way to retrieve product key?
When I purchased Office 2007 (upgrading from a trial version that came with
my laptop), I apparently didn't capture the confirmation correctly, because
it doesn't have a product key on it, only an order confirmation number. Is
there any way I can retrieve that? I should be able to download through
2012. My confirmation doesn't look like the one that's shown somewhere on
the MS site.

Multiple Errors
1. When I try to open a word document straight from an email, nothing
happens. I double-click or right-click then "open" and nothing happens. I can
save the file, open the word program and then open the file -but no word docs
open straight from the email itself. I have checked the temp folder, and gone
through detect & repair multiple times -all with no result.
2. When composing an email i cannot click in the message body or the scroll
bar. The only option for getting to the message body is to "tab" to it.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Pretty well as the subject implies, I would like to be able to extract the

Installed office on Computer w/Hard drive crash
I installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 on a new computer and the
hard drive went bad witin 2 weeks. The retailer I bought it from swapped it
for a new computer. I need to install it again but I don't want to use
another license for it. Any suggestions?

Printing overlay calendars
I have microsoft office 2007 -vista. I have different calendars set up. I
know how to print each calendar individually, but I would like to print them
in overlay mode --- so I can see everything that is going on on the same day.
i.e my daughter's schedule overlayed on my schedule and printed with
everything. Right now when I overlay calendars it will print only one
calendar's information, not both.

Things have got brighter and it's not cool
Hi, my Office docs, inc Outlook and even the pages on IE have suddenly
appeared washed out and a lot brighter. It is making my eyes strain and the
blue wording you often see on IE pages such as on forums, is faint now, at
least the small words that are often to the side of boxes etc.
I did a system restore and that came back as successful but there was no
change to the bright pages, they are still bright and washed out.
All of the boxes for instance in Outlook at the bottom left of the screen,
are all bright and washed out, everything is.
I've not been fiddling with but

viewing a recent file office 2007
Hello everyone :smile:
I need some help.
A few weeks ago i opened a ppt file from my disk on key ,i lost my disk
on key but the presentation i was working on appears on the 'recent
documents' when i try to open it ,and view it i get the : ''path or file
name is incorrect or invalid'' , since it's looking for the disk .
my question is can i somehow view this file ? is it stored somewhere on
my computer ? my os is xp media center .
this presentation is very important to me , any help will be greatly
appreciated .

Weird problem with auto quotes in Word 2003.
I've noticed that in Word 2003, when I close a quotation after a
dash, the auto-quote makes it a beginning quotation mark instead
of an ending quotation mark.
Has anyone else run into this? It did not happen in Word 2000. How
can I fix it?

I have "Office Home and Student 2007" and this is installed in 2 laptops and
1 desktop and home use only.
I need to purchase Access and expression web. Can I purchase "Office Access
2007 Upgrade" and "Expression Web 3 Upgrade" versions. In the microsoftstore
website it says "Upgrade available on these qualifying applications:" and one
of them is "Any 2000-2007 Microsoft Office suite, and any Microsoft Office XP
suite" for all 2 softwares.
So, in this case, I can purchase upgrade versions of the softwares if they
require any 2000-2007 office suit. including Office Home and Stu

Mail Merge Issue - labels are duplicating
When I connect my word label template to my excel database, I get the same
label (name,address, etc.) on 3 seperate labels. When I open the data file up
in the edit mode, while in Word, triplicates, duplicates, etc. do not appear,
so I'm confused. How do I correct this please? Thank you.

Rotated text in Word 2003
Hi,
I've done a number of web searches, trying to find the best way to
created rotated text (at any angle) in Word 2003. There are several
ways to do this, but so far, none have been exactly what I want. Here
is what I've tried:
1) I tried the Copy text, then Paste Special -> Windows Metafile
trick, and this works fine on the screen, but when printed, the text
appears as a garbled mess. This is on two completely different
printers, so I don't think it's a driver issue.
2) I then tried Copy, Paste Special again, using the Metafile above as
the source, but this time choosing P

office 2007 working with sql server report 2008
Since I am new to sql server report service 2008, I have the following
questions to ask:
1. I have alot of reports that need to have one to 10 paragraphs written
prior to when the table is displayed. Thus, I was thinking there would be
toolbox items like a 'word' document that you can drop onto a sql server
report 2008. However the closest thing I see is a texbox. Thus, is there any
feature I could use that will display the paragraphs prior to when the
repiort is generated?

Is Service Desk Edition legal license for business use?
I bought this MS Office 2007 Professional Upgrade to install on a new system
which has MS Works. Now, the packet I received says "Service Desk Edition".
I've read all kinds of opinions, but I'm not satisfied. My concern is whether
this edition is approved by Microsoft for business use.

Permissions on Office registry key
I have a third party vendor that requested a change in the registry so
their COM add in would work in Office:
Registry Permissions (Word)
Full Control permission to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE
This appears to be a gigantic security risk, especially in an environment
where the users are locked down and do not have admin rights, so I have two
questions that need to be answered to reply to the vendor:
1. What documentation/security guide can I provide to the vendor that states
that VERY BAD THINGS will/could happen after making such a global change?

am trying to install it to my laptop sony. windows vista
but every time it asked me for the key i typed it but in vain
it keeps saying the key is incorrec. verify that you have the correct key
then retype it.

My insert key won't work in Microsoft Word Office 2007. Why?
I do a lot of typing over current words to replace them with new words or
names. In office word 2003, I just hit insert and typed like normal and it
replaced the old words with new ones. 2007 will not do anything. Why?

not responding message when opening documents
open existing document (Word, Excel) and blue bar says 'not responding'.
uninstalled and reinstalled Office, but problem persists. closing is major
problem, have to click end now several times. any suggestions for the

Sending an email
I have a issue with outlook 2007 sending an email, My user is running Windows
XP Pro they were also running office 2003 with outlook 2003. I uninstalled
office 2003 and then upgraded to office 2007. My user used to be able to from
a folder click on a file and from the window on the side, file and and folder
tasks, click email and they would be able to send the file out in an email.
This option used to work in outlook 2003 but does not work in outlook 2007,
is this an outlook 2007 problem or an xp problem. The email works, it just
does not work usinfg that option. Does anybody

"Interface not registered" only when sending email inline
When I have a Word or Excel 2007 document open and I try to send it
via Outlook as an attachment (Office button | Send | Email) it loads
up the message interface, then I click Send and it sends fine.
However, if I start to send it so the document is right there in the
body of the email, it loads up a different interface, then I click on
Send a Copy and I get a "Interface not registered" error.
I've seen on the web that sometimes an "interface not registered"
error is fixed by registering OLE32.DLL. But I'm not sure that's
applicable to my problem? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Text boxes and auto shapes will not color in
Hello,
I recently installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 on my computer
(Windows 7). Everything seems to be fine except – I cannot make my text
boxes or auto shapes different colors. I try to format them – but the color
feature isn’t working. This isn’t working for me in Publisher either.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

"Non-commercial use" of OneNote after upgrade to Office Standard?
Just a quick licensing question. I just upgraded from Home & Student to
Office Standard.
After installing Standard, I then uninstalled the Home & Student edition.
When I started Office Standard for the first time, the "non-commerical use
only" headers were there for a second or two, then disappeared and never came
back.
So that's fixed.
BUT -- I still want to use OneNote, so I reinstalled it from the Office Home
& Student CD. Unfortunately, it still displays the "non-commerical use only"
header.
I would think that since I've upgrade to Office Standard, OneNote wou

slow performance of certain office 2003 functions
Since a couple of days ago, when I click on a toolbar menu, it takes a long
time for the menu to drop down, and when I choose a command from the menu, it
takes a long time for the command to execute--e.g., when printing a Word doc
or doing a "Save as" in Word or PowerPoint. Any suggestions on how to
troubleshoot this issue?

Unvalid product key after restore
Hi,
I have done what I would believe would be called a "factory restore", and
hence lost my office(2003). I still had tha cd and thought that would be it,
but now when I have installed it, the product key that was in the cd case is
said to be unvalid.
What is the problem? What can I do?

Office 2007 Spell Checker
I have a mystery.
When I start spell checker in Office 207 (this has happened in Word and
Excel – it may also happen in others Office 2007 programs) by hitting F7, I
get a menu popup called “preparing to install” that leads to another menu
that states it is installing “spelling and grammar/style checker.” This
started up a day or so ago in Office 2007 Pro that I reinstalled several
months ago. Not only that, but it asks me for the FrontPage 2002 CD as the
source of the installation files. I do have FrontPage 2002 on the computer.

Office Activation
A new version of Genuine Advantage was recently installed. Now whenever I
open an Office app, I am told I need to activate it. But I click on
Help->Activate and I learn my product is already activated. I'm running
Windows XP Professional v 5.1.2600 SP 3 Build 2600. My version of Word, for
example, is Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6856.6858) SP3. When I pull down
Help->About, I see that each product is licensed to me.
I believe I bought this copy of Office with my Dell desktop -- quite a long
time ago. I've never had issues with licensing or activation before.

No Product Key Code for Office 2000 Premium
I bought a used DVD drive from a thrift store which contained an Office 2000
Premium CD. I do not have a product key code and Office 2000 is no longer
supported so a key code is not available. I can install the software without
the code but when I try to use it, the program runs and a popup screen asks
me for the code. How do I obtain a key code for a product that is no longer
supported? Can a program like magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder locate the code
if it was never entered during the installation?
