Installing Money without access to updates (as Money is retiring) Hi all I have a copy of Money 2006 (I think, the version isn't the point here). When I do a new install, I cannot open my existing .mny file. I first create a dummy file, wait for Money to mention it has updates to install, and then install them. Once this is done, I can open my existing file. My problem is this: Five years from now when Money is a distant memory, I may want to install it on a new computer. I fully intend to stick to my retirement plan in Money using Money, and so I see a long, long life for this product on my current and future computers. Money Plus Deluxe My Money Plus Deluxe stopped working so I uninstalled the program and put in my disk and the following message comes up. "Setup was unable to install some of the components needed to run Money" When you go into control panel / add and remove programs Money shows it installed but it won't go any further. gain / loss in transferred shares Hi, I'm using Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe v. 17.0. I've transferred shares out of one Portfolio account to another, to reflect an IRA rollover. The original account shows a gain, while the shares transferred show a loss (though they've actually gained). I used the transfer out, transfer in option. Password problem after re-install after carefully backing up my mny file and also my back up file, I upgraded to Windows 7. I have now re-installed Money (2005) but when I open my file and insert my live id and password, it says incorrect password. If I do the same with my back up file , it says file corrupted. I get the same meessage with several old back up files. I know that my id and passwprd is correct ( I have used it for several years and recheced the live id password). I tries installing money on my laptop (vista) and tried iwth ole files, but same problem. Import Problems in Feb 2010 I am using Money 2006, I have 4 accounts that I import transactions to. Two regulary banking accounts work fine. Two credit accounts will no longer import transactions. Actually they import and the account shows there are items to review but the transactions are not visible in the account. I tried deleting the account and re-importing jan/feb but after importing jan, the feb items import ok and 19 items are listed for review but none of them are visible again. Split Transactions New user here!! I have 1 Bank Transaction with 2 differnt Catagories it pertains to. How do I split the catagories so the show in my reports correctly? scheduled deposit not showing up in register I scheduled deposits last month to begin this month and they should have showed up in my register today and are not. I have only scheduled payments in the past and they work. I checked all my info and everything is filled in. Changing from computers Money Plus Home & Business Hi, I have a computer with windows vista and changing to a new one with windows 7. I use all my license (3) of MS Money, so I don't have anyone left to installed it on the new one. The other issue is that I don't know if the MS Money Plus it's going to work on Windows 7. Quicken import report My experience with migrating my data into Quicken Premier 2010 from Money Premium, FWIW. I got a new computer, so I thought I'd install Quicken on the new one, copy over the Money file, and say Import. That doesn't work. I don't know whether Quicken automates Money or what, but you must install Quicken on the same computer as Money. So that's what I did, then moved the Quicken file to the new computer. My Money file is several years old, and contains info about several long-dead accounts. I was hoping the importer would give me the option to drop those. Installing Money on External Drive? I have an external drive I've been using mainly for backup and it has occured to me to (re)install Money on that drive, which being used less, might last longer than the internal hard drive. I have been using Money forever (I hardly use the download/internet features so this removal of Money isn't too catastrophic to me). Money 2002 in Windows 7 Brand new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I installed Money 2002 and opened my file (with 15 years of records) intact. So far, so good.....but I cannot get Money Express to work, and once when I tried to open Money I received the message that it was not properly installed and to run setup again. Money wrongly records automatic payments Using MS Money Plus Deluxe. I have my health insurance premium (Bankers Life) automatically deducted from my checking account. I just noticed that the payee that shows up in Money is SD City Treasurer and categorizes it as my water bill. What makes this more of a mess is I can't easily separate the water bill from the insurance payments. Worst of all, Money will not let me edit the payee name manually. Product Key after hard drive crash... Had a computer crash and finally got things back up and running. Can't find my Product Registration Key for Money Plus Delux 2008. What is the best way for me to go about finding it or getting it from Microsoft? I _think_ I downloaded this version online. Tracking Options on Moneycentral I am trying to track Option Trades on Moneycentral 'Portfolio' and see that it is not supported feature at this time. Money Plus Premium - Key Expired Have Money Plus. Date on the box is 2007. I successfully downloaded my transactions from my bank through most of 2009. Then switched to quicken after the announcement of discontinution. Now I need to do my taxes for 2009 and simply need to open my money file and print out a report of transactions by category. I don't need to go online with my bank. I have now reinstalled Money Plus (after a harddrive crash) and when I try to open my Money file it asks me to enter a product key. Transaction by Category Report has Stopped Working I am running Microsoft Money 14.0.120.1105 (Copytight 2004) on Windows 7. I am trying to get a Transactions by Category Report but when I click the link on the Reports Home page, Money goes to the report but then immediately switches back to the Reports Home page again. I have a theory about what is wrong but have no idea how to cure it. I know that calling up the report will usually bring the last used report to the screen which is where I think the problem lies. Transfers not downloading correctly I'm using Money 2004 and it used to automatically detect transfers between accounts when I downloaded statements. However this has changed and it now detects them as payments with payees. Does anyone know how I can get transfers detected correctly again? MICROSOFT MONEY 2005 Have had a new hard drive fitted to my Windows XP computer. Have reinstalled Microsoft Money 2005 but when I try to restore date from my floppy discs, after the restore process appears to have completed, I get the following message - " 'A' file name is invalid. Bills not viewable in Bills Summary? Recently when updating upcoming bills on the Bills Summary page, all of the information about upcoming bills disappeared?? I've tried restarting Money, but still nothing showing in Bills Summary screen. New symbology for Options - compatible with Money? There is an older thread where someone stated that they thought the new symbols for Options wouldn't work in Money because they were 21 characters long (and there might be a 12 digit max ???). I stumbled on information that indicates that Money should in fact accomodate the new 21-digit symbology for options and I'm hoping someone that has options can follow the instructions (link is the blog listed below) to change to verify that Money will indeed accept the new symbols. How can I extend the online access and portfolio updates using Microsoft Money Plus I have just run out of the 2 year free online access with MM Plus. Is there anyway to extend the online access and portfolio updates until MM is sunset? Looks like Microsoft is no longer offering me the ability to purchase the online access. I have purchased Quicken Premier but having trouble setting it all up and getting things right. It seemed so easy in MM Plus, but I guess anything new is always challenging. Installing Money Plus I am trying to install MS Money Plus on my computer. I have all system requirements and have attempted through Autorun, opening disk files and clicking on setup, and copied all files to the program folder in C drive. Install does occur, but product key is not asked for. This disk has a product key. After install, Money will not open. Downloaded trial version and it worked great. Can't open data file OR restore backup file on 2003 After reinstalling XP, and then Money, I cannot get Money to open my data file. I have gone through the standard process repeatedly but my data never shows up. MS Money and Business 2002 - Login question I'm confused. I've been using MS Money 2002 on a Windows 2000 Pro pc since 2002. Now I'm running MS Money 2002 on an XP Pro pc. I received a message telling me I would no longer be able to log into Money 2002 since July 31, 2008. That was some time ago. So it begins By accident, I bought a copy of Money just before they pulled the plug on sales. In the About section is says that on line services expire on 12/6/2011. So far, my access to Fidelity is working fine, as is my bank's. However, another place I have investments switched to using Sterne Agee for the "back office." I tried to set up Money for them, but got a Money message about my not having an account with them. I called their help desk, and after talking me through the process, the agent said "That's crazy, it should work!" She said she would check with their support people. Money2003 I have Money 2003 which I have loaded into my new computer with Windows 7. It works but I fear that it might not work with future windows. I wanted to upgrade to a current Money but apparently you are getting out of this product. I love the program but don't want to lose my files. Report question in Money 98 I am using Money 98 in Windows 2000 and preparing for taxes. I would like to print a "terse" report of donations, printing Category and Sub-category and a subtotal for each payee but not the individual transactions. Can I do that? bad file management - how can I fix? Ok, I may be missing something, or I may just be terrible at managing and upkeeping my files. Currently using Money Plus Home and Biz 2008, previously used 2006. I've never had a good standardized file management system or backup system/naming convention. Long story short, after changing computers, upgrading software, and moving to another country where I tried to start a new file with the local currency, I have all these various files and somehow am missing 3 months of 2007 data. Unable to open Money 2006 Recently I have had to do a destructive restore of my computer and am now not able to open MM 2006. Whenever I attempt to open it I receive a box telling me about MM 2006 Internet-Based Services Policy with the options to either Accept or Decline the agreement. When I click the Accept button it just shuts money down amd if I use the Decline button it does the same. I am currently using Windows XP Pro 2002 Version. convert 2002 Money file to 2008 Money file I have a new Windows 7 computer and have moved my 2002 Money file from my old computer to My Documents on the new computer. I have downloaded a trial version of Money Essentials (2008) thinking I could convert my 2002 Money file to a 2008 Money file before converting the 2008 Money file to a Quicken file. Taking money from a IRA Windows Vista, Money Plus Deluxe 17. ~.1415, No downloads, manual entry only. I'm taking money each month out of an IRA CD. Let's use $400. Using the Redeem CD/Bond selection in the investment side's transaction form. The $400 goes to the Cash Transaction side of the account. I then transfer $40 (10% income tax) to IRS.The FI actually does the transfer, I'm just accounting for the loss of $40. $360 is then transferred to my checking account. Bullet point formatting I would like make it single spacings through out my page. When bullet point list is selected, an extra row is created after the text. To explain, I typed 5 words which start at the left side. Then I pressed return. At that point, it is single spacing. Then I select 'Bullets' and automatically an extra row is inserted. Unable to restore Money file in MM 2006 Greetings once again all... Recently I have had to restore my computer and am now not able to use the money file I previously backed up, no matter what I try. It either asks me for a password or when I do manage to open the money file by clicking File>Open and browsing for the backed up money file, it constantly asks me for my password and when I enter it it tells me that it's wrong even though I am signed in with it in Windows Messenger. Monthly Report Recently I've been trying to run the standard Monthly Reports from MS $ 2007. The "Monthly report progress" pop-up always gets stuck at the "reviewing your accounts for potential problems" section. Yes, ironic. This happens when either trying to view the current month (in progress) or a historical month. I've tried the quick repair and that doesn't work. I open Windows Task Manager which shows MS $ is Not Responding, and the msmoney.exe file shows CPU usage of 45 and Mem Usage of 157,572 K. Reinstalling Microsoft Money 2004 I recently updated my laptop and am trying to reinstall Microsoft Money 2004 from the original CD I received with my Dell computer. Can't Read Data File When my hard drive crashed, I re-installed Money Plus Deluxe (the most recent version) in a new computer and downloaded my data file (for my checking account) from Mozy, the online backup system. When I try to restore the file, the "Account Register" page comes up blank. When I then try to read the restored file, I get a message asking if I want to back up the file, and then a message that "The path name is invalid." On the advice of Microsoft support, I deleted the password, but that didn't help. Microsoft Money 2004 to Quicken 2010 Have gone to Win7 and had Money 2004 working in XP Mode inside Win 7 but XP mode has crashed due to BIOS no longer recognising Intel Virtualisation Technology on the i5 750 CPU. Have tried opening the file with Money 2004 in Windows XP but it doesn't like it (possible security clash as it was updated in Win & XP Mode). microsoft money plus home and business activation Is there anyway to install and activate a legal, purchased copy of Microsoft Money Plus Home & Business? I have a receipt of my purchase, I have the downloadable install exe and I have a product activation key. After I do the install, the system says the key is expired. Microsoft Money UK VAT enhancement hi is there any chance that a developer might look at MS Money UK version and add an enhancement for VAT offering a drop down box for multiple VAT rates. Is Money deactivated when uninstalled I'm gonna have to send my 9 month old PC back for 2 CPU to be replaced. It is also possible that they will run a disk recovery because Vista has unrepairable errors.. When I did a recovery on my previous PC, without uninstalling Money Plus Deluxe, the Money install was messed up and I was never able to completely uninstall or reinstall it (because the PC recovery loaded a trial version of Money 2002 and I could never get rid of all the traces of it. Quicken can't find my 2007 Money file I recently attempted to install "Q" 2010 but it won't import from my 2007 Money file. It says it can't find it. I tried using their "chat" support but chickened out when the rep wanted me to import Money 2008. My Money file is nearly 20 years old and contains my complete financial history for that time period. I am paranoid about protecting it. Anybody have any thoughts about why "Q" can't find my file? Can't open 2004 backup I purchased a new computer with windows 7. I loaded MS Money 2004 from the CD and then used a SAT to USB adapter to copy my money files from my old computer to the new HD. My old computer died and will not start so I can't backup to a external drive or flash stick. When I try to ioen the restore or backup file I het a message asking for a password. Portfolio status bar and totals problem I updated a number of items in my portfolio the other day... Money 2007 failed to pick up that there were a number of purchases when downloading data from my financial institute, so I had to manually change "added shares" to "buys". and set the price, and account it was funded from. Since then the status bar no longer shows values for Market Value, YTD Total Return or Total Change. The sum of accounts just above the status bar is also in nearly zero. Advanced Budget Mismatch I'm creating an Advanced Budget so that I can use the Savings Goal feature. It seems that certain categories that contain scheduled bills are automatically populated, so that the budget matches the scheduled bill. That's fine. My "Utilities : Electricity" category consists of a single bill, for $100. But when I go to the Budget Summary, it shows that I only have $40 budgeted. When I used to use the S&S Budget, I had $40 allocated to Utilities : Electricity. It's somehow holding on to this old value. Reinstalling Money 2007 I've been running Money 2007 Deluxe (I think) on a Windows Vista Ultimate machine. The machine has developed problems with the hard drive and is not bootable anymore. I can copy off the data files, but I haven't tested them yet. I was wondering if someone could please tell me where Microsoft Money stores all of the preferences for Money. I mean, after using and upgrading Money for many years (since version 1.0), I've grown accustomed to certain things. Monthly Report MS Money Plus v.17 Being a Money user for over 15 years, I had upgraded the version whenever it becomes available and that's why I am now using v.17. Sometimes, you don't realize that MS had taken out some of the program's functions until you want to use it. I never need to generate a monthly report older than one year until now. However, spent a couple hours looking everywhere in the program of v.17 but couldn't find a way to have the program to help me in generating monthly reports older than recent 12 months. I requested account updates and when I looked at the account list, I now had a new Visa Card called Visa Card #2. It gave me no feedback on the original card but it did say the update on card #2 was unsuccessful. However it managed to retrive my balance and make the amount the starting balance for the new card. I merged the two accounts, it happened again.
