Why is IE 8 such a piece of junk?
I am actually using Firefox to browse windows help because IE 8 doesn't load
half the time - what a joke - does anyone at MS even care? I run a small
company and am considering switching everyone over to a different browser -
Firefox works well and Apple's browser is far better! Why does IE not load
properly so often?????

If you're running Win7, see
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/dee08d6b-7236-4e8e-b2e4-25ceede4f7d6
Otherwise...
Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista 64-bit SP2;
Win7 RC; Win7) when posting in an IE-specific forum or newsgroup. Please do
so in your next reply.
1. Does the behavior persist if you start IE in No Add-ons mode?
Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:

2. Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using!
3. What anti-virus application or security suite is installed, is your
subscription current, and is it supported in IE8? What anti-spyware
applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?
Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed
IE8?
4. Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
PS: IE's lightening-fast on my computer.

Interesting...IE 8 loads and works flawlessly on my copy of Windows XP
SP 3, and also on Windows 7. Why do you suppose that is? I can only
guess, since you provided zero in the way of information to diagnose
your problem...not even what version of Windows you have. So here are my
guesses:
Do you have the same experience when you start Internet Explorer from
the 'no add-ons' icon?
If you have XP: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools >
Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)
If you have Vista or 7: Start > type Internet Explorer in the Start
Search box > click Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)
Do you have the same experience after you have reset Internet Explorer
settings?
"How to Reset Internet Explorer Settings"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
Problems with Internet Explorer can also be caused by by malicious
software ('malware') that you have unwittingly installed on your computer.
Web pages that were developed for previous versions of Internet
Explorer, or with proprietary HTML or scripting extensions, might not
function the same way in Internet Explorer 8. IE 8 comes with
Compatibility View, which may make these older pages viewable until
their developers update their code.
Good luck.

Microsoft isn't responsible for how users pollute or misconfigure their OS
platforms or their products with incompatible add-ons or interfering
security software.
Go visit the Mozilla newsgroups. Oh yeah, Firefox, the perfect web browser.
Bwaaahaaahaaa. Chrome is a better alternate to IE than is Firefox.

Because you have issues with your computer that need to be looked at.
