IE8 constantly crashes compared to IE7.   Once you finally got IE7 to work 
you came out with IE8 which doesn't work.

Why not have a version WORK properly rather than consantly creating new 
unworkable versions?

I have had to downgrade to IE7 on all of my computers and now on Windows 
Uprade you are trying to FORCE me to uprade to IE8 by listing it as an 
IMPORTANT update when it is important to me to not have my browser crash 
constantly.   It should be an OPTIONAL update only... because of this I have 
had to set my windows update files to NOT automatically install important 
updates but to let me choose which ones I install.

Hmmm...IE 8 works just fine here, and I also upgraded from IE 7, which 
itself was an upgrade from IE 6. IE 8 has yet to crash on me.

Furthermore, IE 8 is and always has been an optional update. In fact, 
users have to agree to the update - twice.

Unfortunately, you didn't provide enough detail about your problem for 
someone to help you - not even your version of Windows. So here is some 
generic information that should help you:

Experience has shown that the vast majority of problems with Internet 
Explorer on the public internet are caused by:
1- Installing incompatible browser add-ons;
2- Selecting incorrect configuration settings;
3- Malware infection; and
4- [If an upgrade] in correctly installing the upgrade.

(The same issues plague users of Firefox.)

If you're interested in specific steps for diagnosing your problem, post 
back with a detailed description of your problem ("it crashes" is not 
enough detail); your version of Windows; and a description of how you 
upgraded to IE 8.

If your security software is not up to date, has expired or has been 
uninstalled, you can pretty much presume your computer is infected with 
malware.

You are only making an assumption that IE8 is the problem, what 
troubleshooting have you done to track down the cause?

1. You have Automatic Updates settings available to you which would have 
permitted you to avoid downloading the installer for IE8.

2. While Automatic Updates will download IE8, it will NOT install without 
your explicit approval (or that of another user with Admin privileges).
