Repost of earlier Yenc question

I posted the below on 4/26 but the replies never addressed the question
except to change newsreader and then drifted off subject.
Still hoping for suggestions. Someone using IE must have way to view Yenc
coded files.

Any suggestions on a Yenc decoder add on for IE-8, preferably a free one.
Good bad or ugly. I have resisted this protocol for years but now feel I
need it to view some files, not make any. I know there are a zillion posts
through Google but I trust opinions here.
SG
P.S. Google hits mostly very dated.

Yenc is a NEWSGROUP/USENET format. As IE doesn't do newsgroups/Usenet you
need a NEWSREADER that will download and decode multiple Yenc posts.

That's not entirely true. One can use Internet Explorer to access Google
Groups and view newsgroups, some of which may have posters that are putting
stuff up that are yencoded.

The question is reasonable under that circumstance, but there is no solution
that I am aware of. There are options that would allow one to view yencoded
files, but they are not IE-based options -- which I thought was addressed in
the previous postings.

Again, post this question in OE General newsgroup.

Can you give an example (an address or a location) where there are
yenc-encoded files that can't be viewed with IE?

Did some Google search myself on yEnc and IE8 but nothing much comes
forward. Only some bogus "free software" sites.
If you somehow encounter yEnc based things through IE8 (you have an URL
where it is?), then as far as I know you can safe it on your hard disc and
then decode it with a tool like http://www.yenc32.com/

You will need to use a yenc decoder to download/view the files. Probably the
best and least expensive one is:

http://www.yproxy.com/ypro/

I used it all the time when I used to go to usenet.
Hope that helps
