Does anyone know why the Excel Viewer doesn't support VBA?

...Saving a calculated field
First, yes I have read the threads on storing a calculated field and that it
is bad mojo to do that. However, I have pay data that I calculate and input
to a database and it must be able to be reconciled with our ADP data. So I
need the ability to change and fix the data so it does not change as a result
of recalculations. I have a form with a field that calculates the pay based
on hours and pay rate. I have another field (the "copy" field) next to that
one that has the control source set to the database field. I have set the

can't be done with Excel. You may insert a manual linebreak with
ALT+ENTER and insert some spaces but an automatic ident for the second
line is not possible with Excel

In Excel 97, does anybody know why the setting for
Calculation - Automatic or Manual changes on its own?? A
colleague of mine has Excel 97 and every so often, he has
to keep changing the setting back to Automatic because it
reverts to Manual of its own accord.
Can anybody help with this and advise me how to prevent
excel takes its initial calculation setting from the first workbook opened,
so if you open a manual workbook and then open an automatic one, excel will
still be in manual.

Can anyone tell me how to get superscript/subscript formatting to show in a chart legend? I've got it working in the excel data cells, but the formattin doesn't transfer to the legend and I can't directly change the legend text.

When you open spreadsheets incorporating pivot tables originally created in Excel 2007 for Windows the numbers turn to Ref! and Value! error messages. Having bought a new Mac and a new copy of Excel 2008, having previously had the same problem with Excel 2003 for Mac, I was expecting this aspect to be compatible. Does anybody know what the fix is?
First place to look: check there are no back-slashes in path names in the
formulas. On the Mac, they need to be forward slashes or colons.

I have a excel model that runs company scenarios. It currently has about 90
sheets and I am hitting the difficultly of calculations not updating. For
example, I will make a change in one sheet that is referenced in another..
When I check the sheet that calls the first number, it has not changed. If I
hit F2 and then enter in the cell in question, it will show the updated
number... I have many inputs and this can cause a huge problem as there seems
to be no warning. In using the "info" command it would seem that i am using

We have a requirement to manipulate and calculate a workbook behind the
scenes with better performance. Initially we used Microsoft excel to do this
but we ended up with COM related problems (performance and problems while

seasonality in the data. Is there a way to pick a period each year (e.g.

The easiest way to do this is to have a series of data for the winter months
only. That way you can shade that series differently.

Despite being able to graph data on a secondary axis in Microsoft Excel X, I
have been unable to format said axis (ie make it start from a value other
than zero). No amount of trying to click on and select the axis or the
values has helped.
Are you saying that double clicking does not bring up the Format dialog box
for the axis?
Try tapping the 'navigation (arrow) keys while watching the Name box. When
it reads Secondary Value.... use the Format menu item to open the dialog box
and then open the Scale tab to set the Min and Max values

You can't. Excel has two windows only; Excel and the VB editor.
You may be able to open another instance of Excel though, with some Windows
trick or by code. But that is spending a lot of power just for an extra

A co-worker sent me an excel spreadsheet that's password
protected. When I try to open it, it says my password is
incorrect. When she opens the same file, the password
works for her. We're both stumped. The only differnce is
how we're logged into our PCs, and our Outlook/Exchange

that I have permission for the password to work?

Microsoft MVP -...Excel 2003 slow after Print Preview
I'm finding Excel 2003 is slow after using Print Preview. Searches of the
web and newsgroups reveal that a few people have experienced this over the
years but I haven't seen any responses that give a solution to the problem.
Does anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it. I've tried
selecting different printers but it had no effect.
I've discovered something further relating to this problem. The slow
manipulation only occurs if the printer being used is one that is shared by

drag a formula from one cell to another cell, result of the first cell
itself are reflected in the subsequent cells. Then I have to press F9

I have 3D data that I would like to plot in Excel. This should be
straightforward using the surface chart template in Excel. However, the
chart that I produce when I follow the Excel wizard looks nothing like a 3D
surface plot (it looks more like 2D).
The data I am plotting most definitely has a surface, as there is a well
known series of mathematical models underlying the observed data. I have
