Multi-threading question Here's the question - I've created a program that has multiple threads. Some threads use the same file. In order to avoid memory corruption when multiple threads access the same file, I use a "lock" around that block of code so only a single thread can access the file at the same time. Find sub-list from a generic list Given a generic list of items, when each item has some attributes such as name, age, etc. How to get a sublist of the items filtered by an attribute, (say age = 40)? Syntax error when running SQL Insert query Hi, When I run the code below I receive an error message of Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'primary' after executenonquery is run. Primary being my table name for my database. I've tried to simplify this code down as much as I can, but I can't seem to fix the syntax issue. Secondary Site in Pending Status in SCCM 2007 Hi everyone, Since two months we have install SCCM 2007 Sp1 with 1 Parent Site and 40 secondary sites. Homever we have too 13 secondary sites but that not is on. Your status is always in PENDING. The configuration is the same un the 53 secondary sites, but in 40 is on, and in 13 is pending status. Wait 4 days but this servers never going to work. The 13 servers that not working pass the test of pre-installation and pass the prerrequisites comprobation. Windows 7 Backup Hi, when I used Vista, Windows Backup worked fine, and regularly backed up my system and files to my DVD drive. But I have had Windows 7 for several months now, and Windows backup has yet to work! The backup always fails-- even the first few days just out of the box. All .NET programs startup with an error Hello, I have a problem with .NET programs (C# written using Visual Studio 2005) that are running on a particular computer. When I execute the programs, there is a delay followed by a dialog box with the name of the executable on the title bar. There is an error icon with an OK button. There is no other information displayed. After pressing the OK button the application exits. I tried to compile a simple WinForms application. It runs okay on my apps development PC, but when transferred to and run on the other PC, it crashes with the same error. Event handling with dynamic buttons I am not sure how to do this. I have part of it working and I think I understand why it isn't working. I am dynamically placing some data into and ASP:Table from a DataSource. I am looping through the datasource by going through the rows no problem to display the data in cells added by rows to the asp:table. What I am also doing though is adding a button for each row that is to run an Access insert query that adds a record in a log table. Stylecop SA 1201 and initialization order Hi, We currently have the problem that stylecop complains "All private fields must be placed after all public fields. [StyleCop Rule SA1202]". But the specific private static readonly field is used as an input in the initialization expressions for several public static readonly fields, so reversing the field order breaks initialization order of those static members. Array from a DataGridViewColumnCollection Is it possible to create an array from a DataGridViewColumn? I have a form that is bound to a DataSet of 2 tables related. I dragged Table1 onto the form as Details and Table2 as a DataGridView. The tables are synched so that when I use the navigation control, the related records of the DataGridView match the parent table. I want to be able to create an array of a column (let's call the column "Name"). .NET Constants Class Library I need to create a .net class library (dll) that contains nothing but a bunch of constants. Visual Studio 2008 has stopped working I'm running Visual Studio 2008 Pro on Windows 7. It was all working fine. A week ago I installed XNA 3.0. I don't know if installing XNA had anything to do with it but I noticed now that everytime I open the VS 2008 IDE and wait a few seconds, a dialog pops up saying "Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 has stopped working" and gives me Debug/Close Program buttons. How do I remove dot net 1? Hi All, I have serveral customers with crashes server pack updates for Dot Net 1 coming from Microsoft updates. They no longer use Dot Net 1 (usually using 3.5). Bluetooth not working in XP with Broadcom I was trying to get my iPhone and HP pc paired but couldn't so I went to Broadcom to install latest bluetooth software. User Account Control on Terminal Server 2008 I have a 2008R2 x64 Terminal Server and I need to allow users to run a .exe file. I keep getting the UAC warning and it wants a username and password. It is complaining about the publisher being unknown. This works for the admin account but I need it to work for normal users on this terminal server. I have raised the “Privilege Level” and changed the “Compatibility mode” and I have lowered UAC but I am not able to get by this. There was an old KB article but that was pulled so no luck there and I do not want to turn off UAC. WCF client hell I've a remote service available via tcp://. When I add a service reference on my client project, VS doesn't create all proxy objects! I miss every xxxClient class, and I have only types used as parameters in my methods. I tried to start a new empty project, add the same service reference, and in this project I can see al proxy objects! Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem. WDS 4.0 and Searching while Typing I have a system that has Windows XP SP3 with Office 2007 SP2 and WDS 4.0. For some reason the function of searching while typing when using the advanced search in Outlook has stopped working. The only way to get the search to start is to click in the magnifing glass. ArraySegment Hi all I have constructed a custom message encoder for WCF, which works just great. But, now I'm trying to build in encryption which is quite straight forward. The problem is that my encoder works with ArraySegments of bytes. The original segment is a 1024 byte segment with offset 0 and Count = 748 Then I encrypt this resulting in a 1024 byte segment with offset 0 and count =1024 This is send to the server and decrypted to an ArraySegment 100% identical with the original, the only problem is that I now have lost the original count of 748. Desktop Shortcut Not Showing Icon on Win 2000 I have a simple report program that installs fine on XP and newer machines. When it installs on a Win2000 terminal server it creates the desktop icon, but does not display the correct icon for the program. It displays a default icon. I've double checked that the icon contains the correct resolutions. The program file displays the correct icon, and if I manually copy a shortcut to the desktop is displays the correct icon. Also the start menu shortcut diplays the incorrect icon also. Any suggestions here? Word dialog box not fully visible Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Apparently my screen is too small. The dialog box is moved to the top of the screen, but the bottom is not visible; so I've made changes to the track changes options and am unable to click on "okay", "apply changes", etc. (I can't see what's there to click on.) MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback undo javascript changes I have two grids, and the for one of the grid I have given expand-collapse functionality usign javascript. And I have used MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback to maintain the position of the page. All works well, except since when i used MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback the grid wont remain collapsed on postpback. It expands everytime the page does post back.
