Hi there,
I have DPM 2010 RC succesfully installed on a Server 2008 R2 domain
controller. The SQL Database is running locally on this DC as well,
everything seems to work fine.
I am just having problems installing agents, either from the DPM console or
remotely attaching them. When I try to install the agent from the DPM console
I get the following error:
Install protection agent on LHC-S1N4.GF-LHC.local failed:
Error 303: The protection agent operation failed on LHC-S1N4.GF-LHC.local.
Error details: The group name could not be found
Recommended action: Review the error details, take the appropriate action,
and then retry the agent operation.
It doesn't create any agent install logs, or log anything else on the client
server. The only thing I can thing of is that it's struggling to do whatever
it needs to do, either on the local security groups on the target, or on the
domain security groups on my DPM server. I followed the instructions for
installing the DPM server on a domain controller to the letter.
Anybody with any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for trying out DPM2010 RC. Can you please send the the following
information to diagnose the issue.
1. logs on DPM server at c:\program files\microsoft dpm\dpm\temp\*.errlog
2. logs on agent side at c:\windows\temp\msdpm*.errlog
If there are no agent install logs created please try installing in
disconnected way through DPMAgentInstaller.exe and provide us the logs
send the logs to chanchak[at]microsoft[dot]com

Hi Tommaso,
can you let us know if the
DPMRADcomTrustedMahines$<machinename>
DPMRADMTrustedMachines$<machinename>
DistributedComUsers groups are present in the domain controller?
