DPM 2010 and Hyper V Server

Hi I have Hyper V server 2008 with a Windows 2008 R2 guest running DPM 2010. However i seem unable to add physical disks to the media pool for backup. I have a pair of Raid 1 disks that are not being used by Hyper V or 2008 Server. Is there something i need to do to make DPM find these disks either in DPM or the hyper V Server settings? Hyper-V Service Cluster restart during DPM 2010 backup

Hello, I’m having issues with DPM backups on CSV volumes. I’m trying to backup 2 or more VM concurrently on a Hyper-V cluster with 2 nodes. I have the following problem: when I backup 2 VM that are on 2 different nodes, but on the same CSV, the Failover Clustering service restarts on one of the nodes. Of course, this causes a failover to the remaining host and downtime for the VMs… No issue if backed-up VMs are on the same node or on a different CSV. Hello, I'm trying to install the DPM agent 2010 on a domain controller in a other domain than the DPM server but with a two-way trust relationship and I get the error 346: DPM is Unable to retrieve the configuration information. Do I need KB975759 on every DPM Client or Only Server?

When executing an in-place upgrade from DPM 2007-->2010, it noted that PowerShell 2.0 and KB975759 were required. Reading the KB article, it appears that perhaps this might need to be installed on every client backed up by DPM. Is this correct? Or do I only need to install it on the DPM server, itself?

Recover Exchange 2007 DB to a network share using powershell from

I am trying to figure out what the proper command is to recover an Exchange 2007 DB to a network location using powershell instead of the DPM 2007 GUI and have it be a clean shutdown? In the Recovery Wizard (GUI) there is an option of 'Bring the database to a clean shutdown after copying the files.' I would like to be able to set this using a powershell command. Hi there We are protecting 3 blades running Widows 2008, all backup operations are going as planned, save for the system state on all blades, I have checked the event logs on the blades and found that VSS was not running on 2 of the blades so I started this service but I still get the same error reported when I try the job again. Hi all, I am having an issue with three systems out of about 15. It is saying the agent needs updating, but the agents are the same version as all the other systems (and it is the new agent). Hi.. we backup the SystemState of our Server via DPM 2010. Upgrade from DPM2007 to DPM 2010 on different server

After several tries, i've given up to do an upgrade, because installation of DPM2007 x64 crashed or halted. We tried the following: Install on a different server, but same servertype, windows 2008 SP2 x64. because Windows 2008 R2 x86 isn't supported on a HP380-G4. Installed all windows updates an HP-tool updates. Then shut down the DPM server (windows 2003 x86) after making a backup of the DPM database. Desktop/Laptop Backup 2010 RTM Broken

I am trying to setup the desktop/laptop backups but I am having issues getting the inclusions and exclusions working properly. Scenario 1. Include “User Profiles” exclude “Appdata” The backup selects all the user profiles but does not exclude the appdata folders. Since that does not work I tried this. Scenario 2. Include “Desktop, Downloads, Favorites, Links, My Documents, My Music, My Pictures and My Video” no exclusions. The backup gets everything but the “Downloads and Links” folders from every profile. DPM 2010 Consistency Checks

I upgraded from DPM 2007 to 2010 (a week now) and ever since I have 3 servers that are still running consistency checks. Prior to the upgrade I never had this problem. I did install all the required Windows patches to the protected servers (rebooted several times) prior to the upgrade. The protected server volumes are also being protected by DFSR but that has never been an issue before. Is there something different with the DPM 2010 agent that would be affecting agent protection?

Media is write protected

My office has upgraded from DPM 2007 to DPM 2010. Previously we had used LTO2 tapes with our old tape library, but now we have upgraded to LTO4 tapes with out new Dell ML6000 library. When I try to reuse the old tapes in the new library, DPM is able to read them and mark them as free, but when I try to write to them or erase them, I get ID 30003 Details: The media is write protected (0x80070013). I have checked the tapes and the barcodes are not duplicated and the write protection mechanism is not engaged on the tapes. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Co-location of data on tape

Hello everyone I enabled co-location of data on tape about a week ago. This has allowed fewer tapes to be used - 4 versus 6. However, the last tape in the backup set is not being marked as "green tick" offsite ready. It has data from two protection groups on it, and I can see the backup time and expire times. Why is it not marked as offiste ready?

I have two DPM 2010 servers running on Win2K8 R2 - a primary and a secondary. Both servers were working fine on DPM 2010 RC. Hi, I have a problem with missing System Writer on Windows Server 2008. This is required for the DPM agent to function correctly. Install knowledge base article 975759 from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=184897, and then try installing the DPM Agent again. DPM Newsgroup will stop working from June 30.

As many of you already would have read about newsgroup deprecation. DPM newsgroup will be deprecated on June 30 onwards. To discourage activity on newsgroup and to encourage everybody to move to Technet forum, from now onwards DPM team will not be actively verifying that the customer queries are answered in newsgroup. Script to cancel scheduled jobs of TYPE "Tape Backup"

Hello ALL Is there any way to cancel the jobs on a particular day of the week where the TYPE is "Tape Backup" I am fedup with doing this manually via the GUI, especially on a sunday when we do not want tape backups to run at all. Thank you
