I know I saw a thread from a while ago of someone else experiencing this -
anyone know of what to do? When I right-click, choose Properties, and go to
the Home Page tab, I see the URL as something like this:
http://localhost:2525/stage.aspx?page=Home&area=nav_home
When I telnet to localhost 2525, I get no response.
I checked in the registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM, and saw that
the DWORD entry CassiniPort (value 2525) exists now, and I also checked it
after installing (it was also there).
Any ideas?

Hi Jim, just curious, but why are you trying to telnet to it? You should be
able to web-browse to it, and VS.NET can connect to it. FYI, cassini only
runs while Outlook is open, and you can only access it from the local
machine, as the user running Outlook.

I was attempting to telnet to see if I could connect. I also tried opening
the URL in IE, with the standard "Cannot find server or DNS error" response
returned (with "Show friendly HTTP error messages" checkbox turned off in
Advanced Internet Options). I definitely had Outlook open when I tried both
of these - and tried it just now again just to make sure :)
Any idea through what Cassini runs - as a service (checked - nothing that I
recognized), as a process (possibly spawned from Outlook? - I don't
recognize any new processes)... I don't know. Any other configuration for
Cassini that I can check? I don't see any options in Outlook except by
specifying the COM Add-In for "Microsoft CRM Outlook Addin"...
Hoping you/someone else responds with *something* that I can continue to
look into...

Hi Jim, Casini is a process spawned by Outlook. What exactly are you trying
to accomplish by accessing it through telnet or a web browser? Maybe if I
know what you're trying to do, I can offer some suggestions.

Mike,
I cannot access localhost:2525 through any means, including via Outlook (CRM
(Home page), Leads, Contacts, etc.).
I only was trying those methods to see if I could get to it in any way...
What is the process name called?

I apologize - I thought I had mentioned it in my first post - when I
installed Sales for Outlook and tried to go to any of the CRM pages/folders
that are listed ("CRM (Home page)", Leads, Contacts, Accounts,
Opportunities, Competitors, Products, Sales Literature, Activities, Quotes,
Orders, etc.), I get the error "Cannot find server or DNS error".
Oh how bizarre!!! Just now when I tried to get that error, it worked! I
really do not know what I did to effect any change, but something changed,
and now it works!
Thanks for trying to help!

Hi Jim, no problem, maybe I missed your original post. Glad it's working
for you now!
FYI, casinni doesn't actually start until after you access a CRM page within
Outlook. Just starting Outlook doesn't start casinni. You could probably
find the process somewhere under dllhost using a process viewer.
