CRM Outlook Client Addin Problem

  • Follow

We have our users installed with the CRM Outlook client. They are running
Outlook XP with 256MB ram. In general, they were normally. However, when
our users select multiple mail in the Outlook, the client hang up for minutes.

Does anybody know the cause and solutions?

Hi Gordon, there are several possible causes:

1. Which CRM client are you trying to use: Microsoft CRM Desktop Client for
Office Outlook, or Microsoft CRM Laptop Client for Office Outlook?
2. What operating system are the PCs running: Windows 2000 SP2 or Windows XP
SP1 or Windows XP SP2?
3. Which service pack of Microsoft Office XP are you running: SP1, SP2 or SP3?
4. What kind of processors do the PCs have? What speed and are they
hyperthreaded?
5. What are they doing when they select the multiple email records? What
task are they trying to perform on them: open them, delete them, move them,
track them in Microsoft CRM?
6. Have you tried uninstalling the CRM client, trying the same task and then
reinstalling the CRM client?
7. Have you tried installing CRM on a similar PC with more memory (256MB is
quite low)?

The answers to these questions should ensure you're running the right
hardware and software and help narrow down the cause.

Hi Neil,

1. Microsoft CRM Desktop Client.
2. Windows XP SP1.
3. Office XP SP3.
4. The processors are P4 2.4GHz without hyperthreading.
5. The problem appears when moving, deleting, and also just right-clicking
the multiple mail records selected.
6. The problem disappeared either by uninstalling the CRM desktop client, or
just unchecking the 'Microsoft CRM Outlook Addin' in the 'Coms Add-ins'.
7. I've tried with a similar PC with 512MB, the symptom still existed.

Thanks and regards,
Gordon
