I have CRM running, and Exchange working fine. I can send an email via CRM
and that works fine. The remote client that responds to the CRM email goes
into CRM just fine. However if a remote client (who has a record in CRM)
sends me an email it doesn't go into CRM, just outlook.
I've already installed the Exchange router, got no errors. Theres no errors
in the CRM eventlog or the Exchange. I have the convert option set "Only
e-mail about existing Microsoft CRM records". I've added the CRMEmailenabled
for my exchange account. And I've already checked that "mailserverurl" in
the CRM server registry. I've checked everything that was required per the
IG, but I simply cannot get a newly incoming email into CRM.
To test I created a lead with an email to my old yahoo account, I even
converted it to a contact and account. Nothing. I only get the email in
outlook and its no where in CRM (no, not even in activities).
Any thoughts?

works......I tried multiple accounts that have no relation to CRM and they
go into CRM.
So then the question is, what exactly is an "existing Microsoft CRM record"

Are emails delivered directly to your exchange server from
the Internet or are they forwarded to exchange from a
front-line mailserver?

The problem Gary is that the CRM exchange connector will not feed emails
from Yahoo into CRM. I spoke to microsoft about this and was told that Yahoo
adds something to the returned email that stops the CRM connector from
picking it up.
So result - yahoo responses will not go into crm. hopefully this will be
fixed in a later release or service pack

No, thats not the scenario I want. If its a reply, then yes it will go into
CRM. But what if a customer (who has a lead,contact,account in CRM), send me
a fresh brand new email. According to that email option, since this brand
new email is coming from a person who has a record in CRM, it should
automatically go into CRM.

also, like I mentioned to matt, this is a brand new email. I'm trying to
duplicate the scenarion when an aquired customer (who already has a
lead,contact, account) send a new email to me. So the email system of the
initiator shouldn't be an issue.

not the answer but interesting all the same.
I have a disabled account and enabled account account both with the same
email address
I emailed from the active account and when the responce came in it was fed
int the activity history of the disabled account. So the deal was that the
email connector does not check to see whether an object is disabled and may
use it in preference over an active object if the email is the same
one to watch out for as well as not replying from yahoo accounts! :-)

Ok, this just does not work, but before I start going nuts. Can someone
please verify that what I want is actually possible?
There are two main scenarios for incoming email.
First Scenario: The CRM user send the originating email to a customer, and
that customer replies. That incoming email from the customer is sent into
CRM. Great. This process works for me.
Second Scenario: A customer who is already in your CRM system
(lead,customer,account,whatever). He starts a brand new fresh email (ie no
GUID in the subject) and sends it to your CRM user. This email should go
into the CRM system, right? This does not work for me.
Now I've checked EVERYTHING. And given that the first scenario works, there
is no good reason for the second one not to. So I'm thinking, thats not how
its suppose to work. Can someone please verify that the Second Scenario that
I have explained works for them?
(I know I can manually promote that email, but thats not acceptable)

Also, when a CRM user initiates an email (as in Scenario 1), that too
doesn't have a GUID, AND it doesn't get captured into CRM.
So I'm thinking, originating emails from either side don't get captured into
CRM because they don't have a GUID.

try setting the all incoming email in the workplace options and test what
effect that has

Hi Gary,
This is how it currently works. If you have the the e-mail setting to CRM
only - it only routes replies to e-mail sent out from CRM (and include the
GUID). New e-mail will not be routed to CRM.
If you set the e-mail setting to all e-mail, then MS CRM should receive all
e-mail and will attempt to associate it to the correct CRM entity (account,
lead, contact).

Email works for me in that if i send an email out to a customer and he
responds, the response will appear in the activity history
however if a customer just emails then it does not go into crm unless i turn
on the option to bring all emails in or promote the email to a crm email
activity
