MS Access 2002 broken hyperlinks

  • Follow

I have an Access 2002 form with a Hyperlink field which uses Insert/Hyperlink
to browse to the path of a file. If the file is located on the same network
share as the database, the hyperlink is automatically inserted as
...\path\filename instead of \\server\share\path\filename. I can't set a
hyperlink base or allow users to insert path as a mapped drive because I have
no control over where each usergroup will store the database or how users map
their drive letters (database will be used by various subconsultants). Any
suggestions on how to force the hyperlink to enter the actual UNC path
without converting it to ..\ (it seems to mean "relative path" but it gives
an error when another user tries to open the link).

Thanks for any ideas.
