Protected Mode not working??

Last week I was running IE7 and noticed that even though the "Enable
Protected Mode" tick box under Tools > Internet Options > Security was
properly checked the Status Bar at the bottom of the main screen said
"Protected Mode: Off". So I installed IE8, but it still said the same. So
I reset the security level to "Default" and re Set the tick box, clicked
Apply, and restarted IE and the status bar still says the protected mode is
off. What is going on here? What can I do about it.

Why doesn't indexing work with a concordance file?
I set up my concordance file in two columns as directed. My Word 2003 document is 244 pages (8.5 x 11 pages) long and some postings indicated that this might be too long so I broke it in half and tried that also. The message says that no entries were marked. That's the problem: no entries were marked even though all the words are in there. The concordance file is fairly long: 98 KB. Is that a problem? The data drive is not the same as the drive on which the Word program resides, is that a problem? When I select the concordance file from the indexing page, it does not ...

how does the enter key work when addressing?
When I am addressing the e-mail it fills in the rest of the individuals name & e-mail account automatically from the contact book. However, I must hit the tab key for it to complete rather than the enter key. If I want to add a second e-mail address I must then go back to the "To" and start again. Should the enter key allow the rest of the entry without going to the next line? What happens when you hit the enter key? Spreadsheet password protection
How do you password protect a spreadsheet. I can't find anything in the help section. You can prevent un authorised access by giving a password to open the workbook itself, so that no one else can open it (Go to Tools, Options and then Security Tab). You can do it there if you have already saved the file, or you can go to "save as" then "Tools" and "General Options" where you can give password. On the other hand you can protect work sheets and ranges for different people by using "Tools" and then "Protection" Tab -- M Imran Buha...
