This is the wrong newsgroup. Try the Windows Vista newsgroup. BTW,
what does Great Plains or GP or Dynamics have to do with waking a
computer up from sleep? ;-)

Excel 2003 with SP2 locks on startup
I've just loaded Office Professional 2003 (updating from Office XP) and have downloaded the SP2 update pack, but both Excel 2003 and Word 2003 lock up on start-up. It may have something to do with eirther the Virus scanner (Norton's Antivirus 2005 but probably unlikely) or the fact that MS Office Updates won't work as I suspect some of the earlier Windows Installer Patch files may be missing or corrupted from the XP version. I also couldn't uninstall Office XP in the normal manner from Install/Remove programs. Would appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this. (Not...

XP startup question
I have just today noticed that the startup time for Windows to start from power on to useable desktop has at least tripled if not more. I know the actual time is not an issue but I don't undersatand why today it takes at least three times as long as it did yesterday. Is there a way to track exactly what happens during the startup process to see if some app(s). or service(s) is/are getting loaded multiple times or something else that may have changed that would cause this to happen so abruptly. Usually I am able to figure out most problems but when I can't it is time ...

Startup Time
I have noticed that my POSs are taking a surprisingly long time to start up in the morning (about 2 minutes). The strange thing is that the manager module starts right up with no lag, and on the server the POS starts up just fine. At first, I suspected network latency, but checked ping times and bandwidth which both look good. So I then thought it would be a database issue and I did a check and re-index which made no noticeable difference. I am at a loss, so if anyone has any insight, I would be appreciative. For reference, I'm running RMS 2.0. My database is 478MB. It's on a ...
