SmartList/SmartList builder

Hello,

I was training a group of customers today on SmartList builder and they were
creating trying to create a SmartList report. Everything goes well until at
least 4 or 5 of them were having errors saving the SmartList in the
SmartList Builder window. The error was something about a duplicate key
being created on the SLB11000 and the SLB 11100 tables (I cannot recall
which users have errors on which tables) but after attempting to save the
SmartList ID and building the SmartList ID on the actual SmartList view, I
cannot see the favorite there. (They say they may have, at one point in
time, opened SmartList while creating a SmartList ID in SmartList builder).

Questions:

1. Is it right to conclude that the duplicate error may have happened during
saving because of the fact that they are editing the SmartList ID while
SmartList is opened?
2. Can it have something to do with them having the same SmartList ID?
However, they have different SmartList Name and Item Name for each user. I
was assuming that the three of them is a composite key.
3. How do i get rid of the smartlist id in smartlist that does not have data
(although it should have 100 records... note that the users are logged on to
the same company and therefore have the same data, the same access
restrictions and the same excercises they are working on... i actually used
the SmartList builder demo script in partner source). I dont think we can
recreate the data since we are not in a multiuser environment.

4. I also have a SmartList ID that does not error out when I save it yet
does not display data in SmartList even though I have built it already.

Steps that I have done to resolve the error:

1. Check links
2. Re built smartlist
3. checked SmartList security - they have access to it
4. Checked the SmartList options window - it looks ok.

Hope i was clear enough. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Andi Saldana

Andi,
To answer your questions:
1. No that is incorrect. SLB stores changes to a smartlist in a holding
table. Thus when you open smartlist, it asks if these changes should be
updated.
2. Yes having the sameID is the source of your problem.
3. not clear.
4. Check SmartList builder security. If for example the slb was built on an
SQL statement and the user does not have rights to execute SQL statements
then the user will not see any data

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply. For number 3, I was having issues because I
have existing SmartList ID's that I cannot see in my SmartList favorites
even though I have rebuilt them several times.

I also have SmartList ID's that are saved without errors but do not show up

Anyway, I agree with you on points 1 and 2. I will make it a point to let my

Can I access external SQL tables in SmartList Builder? We want to query tables in the Tensoft Fabless Semiconductor Manufacturing (FSM) software module that is bolted to GP. Thank you. You certainly can! GP 9.0 contains a prewritten Smartlist under Receivings line Items entitled "Shipments Received but Not Invoiced*".
