Pricing updates for a Manufactured BOM?

Hello:

A new GP 10.0 Manufacturing client of ours says that it would be nice if
there were a utility in GP that updates the pricing of a bill of materials
based on price changes of a component in that bill of material.

Is there such a thing in GP Manufacturing? I know that GP Inventory has the
Price List Wizard but that does not work for the client because (a) the Price
List Wizard does not update a bill of material based on component price
change and (b) the client would like to change the price based on the profit
margin desired.

Aside from that question, is there even a utility available for GP that
would change pricing for items based on the profit margin desired?

Thanks!

Pricing is controlled at the item level. You can select a pricing
scheme, by Item Number, that uses a percent markup over cost to
determine selling price.

Open an item card and look at the Go-To button in the upper right
corner of the screen - one of the options is Pricing. Click on that
and you can see the different price calculation options are available.

Good luck,

First, if you client is on Standard Costs, then a cost rollup process will
update the BOM value and the value of any inventory already on hand and
listed in GL to maintain balances between the subledger and GL

If the customer is on an average cost, the manufacturing process will update
the current cost and post the adjusted value to GL.

There is no other APICS or GAAP approved process nor any process that will
not corrupt the balance of your GL and subliedger for GP

Well, to be honest with you, it's not a matter of cost. It's a matter of
price. The costing concepts that you mentioned do not have anything to do
with changing price, really.

Thanks, though!

Oh, (so many others confuse the words price and cost). Then the only thing
is GP that will adjust the prices is princing by percent markup or margin and
then running the processes mentioned earlier to change the costs.

special pricing
I am trying to figure out how to set special pricing for specific customers. I already have retail, A & B pricing, with A being lowest, then B, and retail being the highest price. I offer the different prices based on volume. Now, I am trying to set up a customer with special prices on a select number of items. these prices are below A pricing, and i have been changing the pricing on each transaction. this is very time consuming, and prone to making mistakes. i would like to be able to set up a special pricing structure for specific customers on a job by job basis, or for a set per...

LIST PRICE VS PRICE LEVELS
For item prices, there is a need to enter a "list price" and then to go to the item maintenance screen to enter the actual price. This allows for the entry of multiple price levels. Most of the time, we do not use multiple price levels. I would like for there to be an option which would allow the list price to default to the actual price. This would save us a lot of data entry tiime. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
