I have acrobat reader 6.0 loaded on my machine. However, I
do not get pdf as one of the options in my reports

You need the full Adobe to write files. Just the _reader_ won't work. Of
course I expect a great many to reply to this as well and tell you there are
some free and other inexpensive PDF writers out there but only Adobe will
work as you are expecting it here.

I think you have to do a full install of Acrobat, not just leave the default
installation settings. Whatever the files needed for it to work with GP are
not part of the default install.

OKay, if you really did a full install of Adobe Acrobat (not just the reader),
you should be able to go to Settingsl>Printers and see that you have one or more
"printers" installed by Acrobat. In my case, I have Acrobat Distiller and
Acrobat PDF Writer. The install will probably put PDF icons into the toolbars
for your Microsoft Office products as well.

Whenever you want to create a pdf file from Great Plains, you will have to
change, in the print dialogue box, to one of these Acrobat "printers" from
whatever printer you are using to get hard copies of your reports. The print
process will start and then Acrobat will ask you for a location and file name.
No hard copy will result.

I use the PDF Writer almost every day and it works without fail, and not only
with Great Plains, but with any program that creates printed output! You are
simply sending the print job to a virtual printer instead olf one that produces
actual paper copies.

This is not rocket science. It is actually covered in the manual that installs
with the Acrobat installation.

What version? With 8.0 Great Plains, dexterity uses the Adobe Distiller
virtual printer to create PDF files. If you have Adobe 5.0 loaded then it
uses the PDF Writer (removed in adobe 6.0).
