Whitelist email address with Exchange 2003 IMF

Good Morning all,

I have Exchange 2k3 running IMF, it has been working great with one problem.
A Unix box here sends out an email each night from the same email address
but if I tighten the IMF ratings I block this email. After researching this I
contacted Microsoft for kb article hotfix 912587.
I have implemeted this fix as per KB but this email keeps getting blocked.
The real problem is I am unable to lower my block rating below 8, due to this
I am letting in garbage emails. Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can
whitelist this email address in particular?

Thanks in advance.

There is no email address whitelist in IMF, but you can add the
sending IP address to the Global Accept list in Message
Delivery/Connection Filtering.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I should have posted with more information.
I already have the IP address of the Unix Box in Global Accept.
This is still scanned for SPAM. This is why I have looked into this
workaround KB article but this does not work either (for me anyhow). I just
find it frustrating to be so locked down, I mean with all the attention SPAM
is getting you would think a solution developed like IMF would be sensitive
to an allow SMTP whitelist somehow.

When you added the IP address to the Global Accept List, did you then
open the Advanced properties of your Default SMTP Virtual Server, and
select Apply Connection Filtering ?

I have the same problem.

I have an SMTP server on the lan used by many apps.
IMF deletes all the messages from this server.
The sender server address is on the GAL and so forth.

We need to have ability to add an IP on the whitelist of IMF.

As it stands IMF is usless becouse of this.

There is a "known" issue with IP Accept lists.
Solution here:

Alexander,

That worked I did have the IP of the Unix box in both locations, I removed
the IP from the General tab and voila the Global Accept worked and these
emails now bypass IMF. Thank You, now I can finally tighten up IMF.....

error (0x8007000E) in Cached Exchange Mode
My exchange 2000 server (with latest SP) has been running well for almost three years. In the last few days I have had several users complain that they can't download their mail. Switching off Cached Exchange Mode seems to fix the problem, but it's a mess because they can't use the junk mail filter in non-cached mode. I have seen a number of recent posts regarding this problem in other forums. Does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this problem? It seems to have cropped up only in the last few weeks. Forward Email and Insert Sender's Email address in body
With the help of this awesome site, I've created the following code. The only part which I can't figure out is how to insert the email address of the sender in the "Senders Email Address Here" area. Sub Whitelist() On Error Resume Next Set ThisItem = Application.ActiveInspector.CurrentItem Set fwdItem = ThisItem.Forward fwdItem. To = "lmueller@company.com" fwdItem.subject = "Whitelist" fwdItem.HTMLBody = "<p>Please whitelist the following:</p><p></p>" & vbCrLf & _ "Se...

Possible to keep log of addys blocked by Exchange block lists?
Such as Zen, etc. I was curious to know if there's a provision in Exchange whereby it can log the addresses of incoming mails (maybe even just the SMTP servers, if that's all it knows)? While on the one hand, something like Performance Monitor can tell you the *number* of blocked connections, it's a bit disconcerting to have no idea what blocked. Not using a connection filter and letting all email in and then filtering out with IMF at least lets you see what's not going to users. Thanks SB2003R2 Other than a WOW You've blocked a lot of email I'v...

What I am trying to do is to use the OnLoad function, so it will auto insert a email sigature to all emails. The signature will be same across the organisation for all users. ie. Line 1: Company Name Line: 2 Address Line 3 Telephone. Many thanks! hi This sounds interesting and if you get this working could you please share this with me too. This is something i would need to get done for our organization as well. Thanks in advance Ridhima "SW&...

adding midi file to email
I have Outlook 2000 and want to add a midi file to open when the email is opened. I have tried several times and have failed. The only way I can get it to open and play is when I select the edit button. What am I doing wrong? I have used Outlook Express in the past and of course it was a no brainer. Thanks! ...

Email Address #3
I set up my email address and added a logo up the top. When I start a new message my email address is shaded (blocked in a grey background) and any new text I type has a grey shading as well. I am stumped, have tried to have the logo (as picture) before text, behind text. Nothing changes? Any ideas welcome..... ...

Set default address book automatically (registry)
I know I have done this before a few years back in another site - but I cant remember how. We need to set the default lookup address book for all our 2000+ OL2k3 users and to use a specific lookup order. I know they could each do this manually but we have 2000+ users and the support overhead would be huge. We dont want to users to use the GAL as their default lookup (which it is out of the box) because it contains lost of confusing system addresses and duplicate names for the same person in different security level networks; which the users find VERY confusing to distinguish between). We wan...

Whitelist on Exchange2003
Hi ng, I would like to whitelist our local subnet because some of the servers are sending status/warning messages with SCL 7. Those messages would be deleted with our current setting of IMF. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Gerald Assuming that you also installed Exchange SP2 (should also work with P1). It should be possible to go to 'ESM - Message Delivery properties - Connection Filtering - Accept button' and add the IP adresses or subnets to exclude from Message Delivery filtering. Then make sure the 'Apply Connection Filter' check box is enabeled ...
