Exchange SP2 question
Is there any impact installing SP2 on a dedicated SMTP and Public Folder
Exchange Servers without installing it on the rest of the Exhange Server? I
plan to do the rest of the Exchange Servers about 1 month after I install it
on the SMTP and Public Folder exchange Servers. There are no mailboxes on
the SMTP or Public Folder Servers.
thanks in advance
There should not be any impact although running at two different SP
levels for a month is probably not ideal. Any way you can shorten the

Can anyone tell me if I'm likely to suffer dire consequences from installing
Office update 10.1.4? (or 10.1.5 for that matter). I note that its
functionality mainly relates to Exchange, which I don't use.
I'm only wanting to install it to see if it affects the useability of Spam
Sieve anyway, so any thoughts about that would be very welcome!

One of my users is getting Mail Delivery error messages saying that the
message cannot be sent because the following address cannot be found. the
users are mostly email@example.com, but the thing is, she is not sending the
messages. This sounds viral, or like spam, but I don't know how to solve it
since the address that is sending the mail to the aol users has no mailbox
associated with it. It's just a forward email address. Please help me.
This message will self destruct.
This is a little drastic, and would require the user to notify her external

I'd like to know if there is any documentation anywhere on how to reset all
permissions on all users mailboxes?
Basically over the years various people have added special permissions etc
and some people can now access things due to group memberships that they
shouldn't be able to see.
I'd like to know the very minimum users/permissions that need to be set on
the all parts of the exchange server that will give each user access to
their own mailbox and no-one else (unless specified)
I believe you can do this with ADModify , but you have to be very careful

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if its possible to do the following
with KVS's exchange vault.
I am looking to archive exchange data, however I would like to be able to
export a archived mailbox to a PST. Can this be done with KVS? Will the PST
keep all the meta-data surrounding the contents of the mailbox intact?
Thanks for any help.

I have it set up in my table that everytime a record is created it is time

What I am trying to do is set up a separate time stamp when the record is
modified while also keeping the original record creation time stamp.
Is this possible and if so how can I do it?

I am unable to remove the server because it has three mailboxes, two of the
system attendant (o iterm) and systemmailbox (3000 items) and SMTP (0
items). I can't find users that fit the mailboxes but i can do a search in
users and computers and see them and delete them but they are still there
today... So until i get these users out i can't remove the Exchange server
from the system. charlie
Verify there are no users with Mailboxes or Exchage Attributes on the server
you are trying to delete. Plese look at section 3 & 4 on this KB,

...Query re Microsoft CRM-Exchange E-Mail Router
We're thinking about purchasing Microsoft CRM.
Question: if an email is directed to an address that shows up in Microsoft
CRM, is the email
a) no longer stored on the Exchange Server but only on the SQL server
pointed at by CRM
b) on both
c) just on the Exchange Server but incorporated from there by the CRM system.
Where can I find more information or documentation on this feature of
Microsoft CRM? In general product description documentation seems very weak.
All inbound e-mail goes to Exchange just as it would if you didn't have the

I just signed up with 4smartphone Hosted Exchange Server last night. The

just opens to my normal personal folder and checks mail. Is the .prf file
good only once and then it doesn't work properly?

According to Microsoft website:
near the bottom of the article details about a Daylight Savings Time Patch

I currently have exchange 5.5 on an nt4 box. I need to put it on another
machine which is running 2000 server sp4. The server is using a different
name and I was wondering if there is anyway of moving over the users and
their mailboxes without having to back them up in to pst files for each user
This may or may not help. You can use EXMerge to move the
mailboxes. However, I do not know if EXMerge works on 5.5,
so if you find out it does, just set up exchange on the
W2k box and EXMerge the boxes over. You could also try it

What's the best way to approach this?
You'll be joining the same Exchange org and probably Admin group so the only
question is will you need a different routing group? This will depend on
whether or not the child and parent domains are at separate sites.
Regardless of the routing group you should just be ab...send email on behalf of in exchange 2000

I have 3 Exchange 2003 with SP1 installed. May I know is it possible to
upgrade 1 member server to SP2 only? so the rest(1 member and 1 primary
server) are still running with SP1. any official document regarding this
PS: we are not using FE/BE model, all exchange servers are able to send and
receive internet mail.
It is best practice to install SP2 to all servers in the farm but there are
no problems I know of to upgrade just one if they are all mailbox servers.

repair and recover them. The BKF file will not restore to a machine that is
not an exchange server. There are two of us working on the files. My
consultant is on the server and I'm working on a desktop. We have been down
for 24 hours and timing is important. Can it be done ????
