Public Folder Store Present on Front-Ends

I ran the EXbpa and it said that it is recommended to dismount the Public
folders stores on my front end severs. When I dismounted them mail started
queueing up and did not start again until I mounted the stores. Why would
this be when Microsoft recommends it and what does the PF store have to do
with mail flow?

I am running Exchange Server 2003 SP2

Dismounting the PF stores shouldn't interfere with e-mail that's not
addresses to mail-enabled public folders.

However, dismounting the PF store won't stop the FE server from
thinking that it should deliver the e-mail for those mail-enabled PFs
to the local PF store. Of course it can't do that becasue the PF
store's dismounted!

My advice would be to make sure that there are no PF replicas on the
FE servers and then to DELETE the PF stores on those machines. Tht
will remove the PF store from the msExchOwningPFTreeBL property and
the FE will deliver the e-mail to the a PF server in the local routing
group, or in the 1st position within the msExchOwningPFTreeBL
property.

Just check the "Public Folder Instances" view of the PF database.
