Excel Not Opening using OWA
We have an excel file from a certain sorce that will open blank or if trying
to save will save as 0kb from OWA, file opens fine using normal Outlook 2003
Any clues - help much appreciated

I cannot access my .pst files in Outlook2000 and have
received the same error messages as previously posted in
this newsgroup (i.e. "the file is not a personal folders
file" and "...permissions need to be set prior to use.")
After reading the replies and making the suggestions
(making sure I have full permissions and not just 'read
only,' etc.), I am still not able to access. One other
descrprtion about the problem....when I view the file in
Windows Explorer, the correct icon appears next to the
file. However, when I try to bring the file into Outlook,

When I attempt to create, reply or forward to a message in OWA 2003, the appropriate
window opens, but is blue/grey in color, and contains only this text, centered in the

The exclamation point is dark red, the text is black.
I've dumped the client browser cache, removed all unnecessary controls in
"C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files", and rebooted the system. I've cleared the SSL
state. I've reset the browser advanced settings.
The problem persists. Any suggestions?

My old 'puter was Win 98. The only problem is that I
cannot get the new Publisher that came with XP to open
ANY of the files that I have that were created and saver

Disable "script blocking" in Norton; try that first, if it doesn't work, in Norton,
options, disable Office plug-ins.

We recently installed Hotfix KB31464 and Service Pack 1 for our Exchange
Server 2003. However, after that, we're having problems with our Outlook Web
Access system. From IE, the page says it is 'loading' but it never does
anything else. Clicking upon the different links (contacts, calendar, etc)
does nothing. If you open the page in Firefox, it links to the right folders
(contacts, calendar) and opens them up (like emails, events, contacts), but
the images aren't showing up (showing up as broken links). Is anyone else
having this problem or know how to rememdy this?

I have a CSV file (not created with Excel.) If a user double-clicks
on the file, Excel wrongly guesses that it's not a true Comma-
Separated-Value file, but a fixed-width file. Thus to the user it
will display incorrectly.

I have always imagined that Excel treats a double-clicked CSV file as

I have installed the full version of Acrobat 5. Even
installed Acrobat PDFWriter Files.
However, still the dropdown on file types in reports does
not contain pdf.

I'm having problems with an exchange 2003 server standard edition
running webmail and only webmail. This is the only server and is the domain
controller aswell running windows 2003 server. I am using Forms based auth
and things will all work fine and then all of sudden someone can click on
their inbox and everything will grind to a halt. Things become very slow and
it is unusable. The CPU, Disk and Mem usage are all fairly normal and i
cannot see anything that sticks out to me. The people are accessing it from

If you want the user to see a prompt, open the file.
Do a SaveAs
Click Tools|General options|and check "read-only recommended"
They can still answer "no" to this prompt, right?

I'm trying to change my owa url. Actually is https://mydomain.com/exchang
but I dont want users have to type the /exchange. I went to IIS into default
web site properties into home directory tab, and than check redirection to a

My server (only 2 weeks old) lost its .stm file when Symantec AV stripped a
virus from an attachment, and now Exchange won't mount the mail store. I
have no access to a backup (veritas won't mount the backup tapes). How can I
recover the mail and info?
If the edb file is in a "clean shutdown" state then you can run eseutil
/createstm to generate a new stm file.
If the edb file is in a "dirty shutdown" state then you will have to repair
the database as well.

open and excel file by first opening Excel and then

I’ve recently took over a task at my job of managing some Excel files.
I am using Excel 2002. There are several Excel files that need to be
combined into one file however, if I do this, I will have some duplicate
records that I will have to delete.
The only way I know how to do this is to copy and paste and then look for
duplicate records manually and delete them as I find them. Is there an easier
way to do this?

Yes, there is. I would use VBA to do that job, but I need more info. When

Question for knowledgeable outlook folks:
If I accidentally drag an email into the 'Personal Folders' node on the
file tree--not into a subfolder but into Personal Folders it self-- how
do I get the email? As far as I can tell it's just gone.

Give us some more detail. You say Excel "tries to .....". Exactly what do
you see that makes you think that is what is happening? If Excel is
commanded to open a file that doesn't exist, you will get an error message.

I have an Exchange 2003 server that was running beautifully until we
found we had a problem managing public folders from Exchange System
Manager, requiring a new SSL certificate to be generated. We were able
to fix the System Manager problem, but then we found that OWA was
broken. We get the dreaded "Page cannot be displayed" error when
trying to go in on port 443, and attempts to go in through 80 results
in a 404.3 error (must be viewed over SSL).

You can always hand-edit the command line to the linker. As...import .CSV file to XP EXcel 2003 worksheet, the seperator is com.
Download a .CSV file from internet to Windows XP Excel 2003 (SP1). The text
delimitor is comma. How do I change the worksheet to have the text delimited
by column? that means each text filed is imported into each column.
Change the .csv extension to .txt then open that *.txt file.

When trying to open a Microsoft Excel Work Sheet that I had accessed modified
and saved to only yesterday [Office 2000] a window pops up with:

I am having difficulty acheiving this.
I have a word document which a user fills in, once complete the press a
button, the form is saved and then I want the file path and filename to
be embedded into the body of an email automatically, so the next person
receives the email with a hyperlink to the specific form.

I have seen on a few machines that while using the Premium version the =
computer will bring up prompts to insert the office CD to install =
something. But what confuses me is that I've tried OWA2003 on a machine =
without office and it works fine, so it appears to not require MS office =
unless you have office installed and then it prompts the user multiple =
times to insert the office CD.

When I bring up OWA, it asks me for my authentication twice in a row. The
first one appears to be just logging onto the server and the second one
seems to be logging into Exchange. I really don't know exactly.
The first authentication box says "Site: mydomain.com"
The second authentication box says "Site: server.mydomain.com"
Is this normal?
