This files will be deleted automatically after performing a full backup
with NTBackup. They are used for recovery.

No, you should not manually delete those files. Use an Exchange aware
backup application (ntback.exe on the Exchange server itself will do)
to back up the Exchange server. The logs will be purged automatically.

If you do see a lot of log files remaining after a backup and do see a
gap in the dates of those files and those old files stay there even
after another backup has flushed the newer logs, then it is safe to
take those logs away.

Mail delivery to the deleted items folder
Has anyone ever had new email delivered directly to the deleted items folder. I have been noticing that regardless of whether the domain and or the sender is in the safe senders' list, I start gettting random email addresses delivered directly to the deleted items folder. Once a sender starts being sent there, they continue for a few days then someone else start being delivered there. Emails from these senders had been delivered properly in the past. I thought it may be an outlook issue because I am the only one (so far) that is affected. I ran scans for everything, but nothing sho...

Comma Delimited (CSV) Files
How can I save an excel file as a comma delimited (CSV) file, BUT still maintain a format that allows for 15-digit credit card numbers? These usually require special cell formatting (ie text or number) that get lost when saved as a CSV file. My understanding is that saving as CSV saves all formats as "General." The result is a file that displays credit card numbers in scientific notation (3.71528E+14)!! This doesn't work for batch uploading to process credit cards. What can I do to have a CSV Excel file that actually displays 15 digits!? Jerel If you just reformat t...

troubles with delimited files
I receive orders via CSV files. Below is one of the troublemakers. If you notice, the sku# is 9185 and the 16 digit following ends in 9185. Great! No matter if I open as CSV, TXT, or cut-n-paste, then opt to delimit into columns, the 16 digit number will always resolve to 9990000000009180 which is a mismatch. Also, with the cell not wide enough, it displays as 9.99E+15. All other similar 16 digit numbers would display as 999E+15 and delimit without issue. 0140160852,John Doe,222 daley st,,,boston,MA,03125,US,555-555-5555,CG,,9185,9990000000009185,2,10626315001,1,Y,UOL,,,store ...

Online Log Size
I've got a 40G SS 2005 table without indexes that I need to add a clustered index to. I know that if I do a standard index addition, it will write out about 40G to the log and I was hoping to avoid that. If do the ONLINE option for building this clustered index, will it write out significantly less to the log by any chance? Nope - but, you can try changing the recovery model to BULK-LOGGED and seeing if that reduces the amount of data recorded in the transaction log. Remember to change the recovery model back to full after the index has been rebuilt. Note: the transact...

How to log internet header of incoming emails?

We use exchange 2000. Thanks. Regards Christian You can create a rudimentary log of incoming mail using the SMTP protocol logging feature of the SMTP virtual server. It will not record the BCC field or any of the message content, though. The BCC field would be inside the RFC 2822 header of the message. To record anything in that you would need an SMTP protocol sink. The Archive sink mig...
