IMC queue flooded with spam and junk

hello.
i am running exchange server 5.5 in my organisation with
SP4. even though RELAYING has been PROHIBITED (i tested it
using telnet), i can see that the IMS queue is flooded
with mails sent by external domains to other external
domains. i manually delete all these mails but within
seconds 100's of mails attack the IMS. the server gets
clogged within matter of seconds hampering the bandwidth
and server performance.

kindly advise

thanks & regards

If you have no need to permit SMTP relay, then uncheck box on the IMS'
Routing Restrictions that allows authenticated servers and clients to
relay.

No. Add the other domain to the IMS "Routing" tab as "<relay>".

The routing restrictions apply only to domains that you don't agree to
manage.

IMC crashes sporadically
I have been running Exchange 5.5 (NT 4.0 SP6a) with SP4 for years with very little trouble. But after we did the end-of-year maintenance (SP and security updates) we have been seeing the IMC crashing evey 3-7 days. The event log show the event id 4037. Other recent changes about the same time frame include Trend Micro eManager (SPAM controller) was installed and configured and the TrendMicro Scan Mail (Anti-Virus) was updated. I have downloaded and will be installing the most recent Exchange update (Exchange5.5-KB841765-x86-enu.EXE). Any ideas on what can be causing the crashes. My e...

Exchange 5.5 IMC, MTA Queue Issue (IMC Stopped)
Hello i currently have two Exchange Servers 5.5 SP4 in the same site. Boths Servers have the IMC installed, and email is working fine. The IMC service is stopped on one of the servers and has been for a couple of months. The problem is if i look at the Server, Message Tranfer Agent Queue, IMC. Disabling the Junk Mail filter
Does anyone know if/how the Junk Mail filter in Outlook 2003 can be completely and permanently disabled. We run a subscribed anti-spam service at mail server level and the client filter is creating false positives all the time and causing much unrest amongst my users! I've tried setting the filter to no automatic filtering, but this doesn't seem to stop things redirecting to the junk mail (backup notifications originating from backup exec are consistently hitting the junk mail folder despite having been added to all safe sender and recipient lists). This trivial issue is drivin...

Spam
It is very irritating that I can only block only one spam at a time. I can right click on a message and select Junk Email/Add Sender to Blocked Senders list. but I can't select multiples and do the same thing. The option doesn't even show up. imap accounts and junk email in outlook 2003.
is there any way to connect the blocked senders in a new rule so that it will all be deleted in my imap accounts. My inbox for my personal folder works great with spam, but my imap accounts don't do well at all. I was hoping to make a new rule for my imap accounts so that i could clear out all the spam i get in them. Anyone have any suggestions on a good way to go about it? Also, is there anyway to mark more than one email at a time as junk email? I really don't like how that is missing from 2003 along with the junk-email rules in the organize menu. any help is appreciated. ...

MSExchange IS Public Queue rising
Hello, I have Exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003 (all latest patches and SP). The server has been running for over a year but in the past month I have noticed the Public Send Queue at times increase because I monitor that queue. My understand is that this queue is used for public folder replication. Is there a way to troubleshoot this and determine what is causing the queue to increase? Can I determine what folder information is being replicated? Are there any settings I can check? The queue increasing appears to happen ever few days, both in the PM and AM. It's not causing any...

Message Queue CAsyncSocket
Hello, I'm using CAsyncSocket to create a client that communicates with a server. I have used two CList<CByteArray*, CByteArray*> as inqueue and outqueue. All Received data ends up in inqueue which I loop thru processing each command in the list. Each 'answer' ends up in outqueue which I also loop thru sending each item to the server. What complicates this is that every 12 seconds I need to send a KeepAlive message. I have tried this (and failed) The normal messages are added to outqueue using AddTail but the KeepAlive message is added to the outqueue using AddHead. T...

Exchange 5.5 Spam and Deleted Users: 2 questions
1. It seems that mailboxes that have been deleted which still receive spam are going to current user mailboxes. How do I stop this? 2. Also, spam addressed to users with active mailboxes end up going to other mailboxes as well with no reference to their mailbox in the headers. Any suggestions? My first guess is that the spam is being sent TO one of those no-longer-in-existance mailboxes, and BCC'ed or CC'ed to your existing mailboxes. That is a common spammer trick to make the message look more legitimate by having recipient names in the TO or CC lines that you recognize. ...

MSExchangeIS Mailbox Send Queue
