ID no: C0072746 - Public Folder wont open

We are trying to add Public folders on a new Exchange 2003 Enterprise and
weget the following error in System Manager.

"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"
Facility: Win32
ID no: C0072746
Exchange System Manager

We can add Public Folders in Outlook but we cannot acces them in System
Manager to assign emails and persmisson to them.

Any help is much apreciated.

Everything else works good.

I've seen mention of a possible fix for this. Basically, if you're using
SSL, go to the default web site and under the secure communications area,
ensure that 'ignore client certificates' is selected (and restart IIS if it
was not).

I have rebooted this server many times. Its been up and runnig for over a
month. All fucntions work fine except the public folder issue. We have
another Exchange 2000 box that is runnig the old Public folders unfortnuately
we cannot shut this server down until the new Exchange 2003 public folder is
working.

So have have two servers doing bascially the same thing.

Any new input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

2003. Unfortunately the erorr is not in the MS KB database.

Its seems to be related to IIS. Any input would be helpfull.

Hello,

I had the same issue.

first I add the following key:

1. Click "Start", click "Run", type "regedit" (without the quotation
marks), and then click "OK".
2. Expand the following registry key:

HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeTransport
3. Right-click MSExchangeTransport, point to "New", and then click
"Key".
4. Type "Parameters" (without the quotation marks), and then press
ENTER to name the new key.
5. Right-click Parameters, point to "New", and then click "DWORD value".
6. Type "SkipPublicMDBRestriction" (without the quotation marks), and
then press ENTER to name the value.
7. Double-click SkipPublicMDBRestriction.
8. In the "Value data" box, type "1" (without the quotation marks), and
then click "OK".
9. Close Registry Editor.

and I re-apply the Windows 2003 sp1.

Cordially,

Fred

Can you expand the reasoning behind the registry hack? Is this documented?

I dont want to freeze up my Exchange over an undocumented registry hack.

Please explain and we will try it out.

Thanks for the extra effort.
