Exchange 2000 SP3 Server has been hijacked
Your help is desperately needed. Last week our exchange 2k server became
very slow. I found system.exe virus and removed it. Every thing worked fine
for few days and now we have 18000 messages waiting for directory lookup by
oversees companies. I have applied all patches. I have scanned Windows 2000
server. I have Updated Sysmantec 2.0 and mail security 5.0. None of this has
helped. i have changed server password 3 times and still no help.
Oue Tape backup is in for service and I use to backup entire exchange
directory to a different hardisk. I cannot do that now. The system wai...Retrieve POP3 from Exchange 2003?
I have exchange 2003 standard.
Currently have the individual Outlook clients retrieving their own POP3 mail

Is there a way to have the Exchange server do this for them?
I'm asking because the Outlook client has to be active in order to check the
mail, but I have a few people who go out in the field and don't turn on
their computers in the office... so they can check mail via the Outlook web
access, but it will only show them the internally sent mails.. not any that
are on their ISP account.

You want a VPN for this. Opening the firewall ports isn't a good idea.

What a mess! After upgrading to 2005 all my personal
accounts have basically been trashed as a result of 2005
importing my business account checks into my personal
records (about $12,000.00 worth of "unassigned" expenses
this month). Multiple crashes of app when logging on to
MSN and several other issues. MS has said they are aware
of problem(s) and would contact me with resolution (that
was two weeks ago). I feel like a Beta tester, except
that I PAID for this Gates catastrophe!
Hopefully you backed up your data file before you upgraded.

I upgrade Office2003 from OfficeXP, however, the 2003's SPAM filter function
not work, and I'm sure this function was enabled on my Office2003. But if I
install a new os on other PC and install Office2003, then SPAM email
function is work. So did I miss some upgrade step??
Many thanks for your help!
Remember: Outlook Mailbox Caching feature must be enabled
to be able to use higher Spam settings in Outlook2003.
OfficeXP did not have the local caching feature, so when
you upgrade it probably doesn't enable it.
Thus, your Spam filtering won't work.

...Make a Word template available in a public folder
Is there any way to make a Word template available in a public folder, so
remote users can access the template when offline?
Yes, and no. Users will have access to the template, but when they open it,
they'll be opening the .dot file itself, not creating a new .doc file with
it. If you want to go this route, be sure to make the folder read-only, so
users will be forced to save the newly created file to their system, rather
than overwrite the .dot in the folder.

We have a couple of "why's" after upgrading to 4.0.
In 3.0 we had a contract template using time allotment. When creating
contracts based on it, the initial allotments field was recommended, not
required. In 4.0 the field is required in both templates.
Is there some new setting on the template to decide whether the field is

I am thinking of extending the published Free/Busy time in Outlook to a year
or two into the future.
But how about the consequences in doing so, as seen from the Exchange
perspective. Before Exch 2007 this information was stored in a public
folder, now in Exch 2007 the check is made directly in the calendar using
OWA, so I guess that there should be no problem in doing so? Anyone got any
info or best practice I can lean up against.
Free-busy data is pretty small so I doubt think you'll have any trouble.
But, seriously, who...
