Exchange 2000 SP3 updates ans security patches

I have Exchange 2000 Version 6.0 (Build 6249.4: Service Pack 3) running on
Windows 2000 Server SP4. What is the best way of checking for missing
security patches and updates? Would it be enough if I run MBSA 2.0 and rely
on it only? MBSA is not showing any patches/updates missing however the above
build number seems to me a lillte old comparing to those I saw when
researching the web about Exchange 2000. Does the updates not change the
build number?
Thank you.

Service packs change the build number.

If you're only dealing with one machine, why not use Microsoft Update
to check for updates? Use MBSA when you're done. :)

Windows Updates scan will check only for Windows 2000 server updates/patches.
I'd like to have missing updates checked similarly for my Exchange, Sometime
it seems little confusing if I just go to the downloads page and try to
determine what I have and don't have. Also do I run the latest build of
Exchange? (pls. see the previous message for the build number).
Thank you.

When you visit the Windows Update site you'll see an offer to move to
Microsoft Update (somewher at the right sode of the page).

Your build number (6249.4) isn't the most recent -- it's the RTM build
of Exchange 2000 (no Service Packs or hot fixes). There's at least a
Post-SP3 Rollup from August 2004 with build 6603:

Availability of the August 2004 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack
3 Update Rollup [870540]

I run Microsoft Update and it shows that only 892986 is missing. I applied
the latest Post-Service Pack 3 Update Rollup (870540) already before. As I
mentioned before, MBSA doesn't show any missing updates. What would be the
next step to get my Exchange to the latest build?

From where are you getting the build number 6249.2? If you've applied
a Pos-SP3 set of fixes your build number should be at least equal to
the build number for SP3.

DOH! Sorry. I was looking at the build numbers for another release.
How embarrassing!

Exchange 2000 SP3 6.0.6249 August 2002

I'm pretty sure that the informtion you see in the ESM isn't going to
change except when yo install a new release or a new service pack,
you'll have to check the build number on the individual modules.
Usually the build number of store.exe is a pretty good indication of
where you are.

The store.exe shows that I'm at 6.0.6617.47. It's weird that ESM shows the
old build. I'm assuming then the I'm running preety latest build. Correct?

Can you tell me what's the latest build for Exchange 2000? Apparently it's
not the
6.0.6603 listed in the http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=158530 article
since the one I have is 6.0.6617.47.
Thank you.

Constant Outlook crash after Exchange 5.5 to 2K3 migration
We are an Exchange 5.5 shop (gasp!) and we have finally begun our migration to Exchange 2003. I was able to build our first 2K3 server, and have it joined successfully into our 5.5 environment. The ADC is up and running and is transferring data back and forth as I expect it to. Unfortunately I still have some lingering issues, one of which is a complete showstopper. This main problem is that both of the accounts I have moved from a 5.5 server to the 2003 server have *constant* crashes in Outlook 2003.
