It sounds like you have a firewall blocking port 25.try to telnet to a mail
server out on the internet and see what happens. If your firewall is blocking
port 25 it should come back with a timeout.
If it does not, check the mail server at the other end, it may have a
firewall where port 25 may be closed or is configured to open on a request.
This could also cause the type of behavior you are experiencing.
