We have Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 backend servers and Exchange
2003 Front end server.
After install DST patch for Exchange 2000 (kb870540 and KB928255) and
Exchange 2003 (KB926666), could not access mailbox on Exchange 2000
backend server using OWA. The issue is, we can view the message but
when try to create new message from OWA, or reply a message, the
"Messsage" section, bellow "Attachment", is greyed out.
The is no issue accessing mailbox homed on EX 2003 backend server.
I am waiting to talk with MS tech support now.
If you have any suggestion or in similar situation, please let me
Thanks ahead.

Sorry, it's KB928225, not 928255. $4000 patch for Ex2000 from MS.
Anyway, if we remove KB928225, OWA from front end server will work
perperly for mailbox homed on EX2000 backend server.

try KB 911829 on your front end server or call MS PSS support. It's
free call for DST related. You had better get in the early morning.

Strange OWA Issue
We're having a very strange OWA issue and can't pin it down to any sort of change or other issue short of a drive array fail-over to a hot spare. Users can login to OWA without issue and open items but once those items are open they cannot action them. The window containing their item changes to the double pane OWA view (a mirror of what they already had open) and gives an "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site" <URL> / Operation Aborted. Upon hitting ok, the mirrored site closes down with the standard OWA shutdown security warning. Actioning an ite...

Microsoft XML Diff/Patch -- how to output differences
Thanks to this newsgroup I've been pointed to Microsoft's XML Diff & Patch utilities. I've been reading about how I can use the tools to generate a diffgram between two XML documents, and how the XML Patch utility can (for example) bring document A in line with document B. Very cool. However, I was wondering if there's any way I can use the diffgram to generate something else; a third type of document that highlights the differences between the the input docs and is a little more readable than a diffgram would be ideal. Where I can see actual node names instead o...

OWA and OL email always sends as HTML
I'm using Exchange 2000. On all of my OL clients and in the ESM, I think I have everything set to send messages as "plain text". Somehow, even with OL2003, I'm sending messages and they show in my outbox as plain text, but when they are delivered to me, they show as HTML. Somewhere along the line it appears the server is converting to HTML email from plain text. It happens with OL2000 and OL2002 clients also. My question is two-fold: 1) Is it possible to force all OWA users to send mail using OWA in plain text? 2) Why do my messages send as plain text, but show up as HT...

DST Question
All, Can anyone tell me how recurring appointments that fall within the beginning and ending windows of the new DST will respond once Exchange/Outlook have been patched? I somehow got tasked to explaining this to our user group... My understanding is that recurring appointments that were originally set up within one of the windows will show a 1 hour difference from expected during the windows. For example, in 2006 I created a recurring appointment on March 8, with the time being set to 2:00 Central. My expectation is that during the start window, this appointment will show 3:00 Cent...

OWA Service Unavailable....ready to go back to Groupwise!!!!!
I have been working on this problem for a couple weeks now, and I am desperately trying to avoid a reinstall! This install is less than 6 months old!!! Config: Windows 2000 server SP4, domain controller, only server in the domain. Exchange 2000 server SP3 with August 2004 rollup on same machine. Server is patched and up to date. Since the install back in April, we haven`t had any serious problems with Outlook Web Access. About two weeks ago, it just decided to quit, and started giving "HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable" error messages when users would log in from home. I get the same...

Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 DST
I have installed the OS Patch, Exchange Patch and I'm running the tool. Are the appointments from Mar 12 - Apr 4, and the last week in Oct. supposed to be off by an hour, or am I missing something? Thank you, BM I did the same thing. Patched the OS, Patched Exchange 2003sp2 and then ran the tool. The tool did not correct the time appointments displayed from Mar 12 - April 4. In fact, in some cases it moved appointments that were already displaying correctly and left the incorrectly displayed appointments alone. "BM" wrote: > I have installed the OS Patch, Excha...

More DST stuff
Hey guys, So I'm at the point where I need to install 926666 (all server OS and clients are patched). My question relates to a posting on the MSExchange team site that says in order to avoid issues with 926666 that the store version should be atleast 7650.23. I have E2K3 with SP2 installed and my store version is only 7638.2. Any idea what will get my store level up? WIndows update would be reasonable but how would windows updates affect my store version? Internet Explorer Patch
Hi, I am trying to find out if this is a legitimate e-mail that I keep getting it says that it is coming from Microsoft<security@microsoft.com>. My internet provider is holding it for a potential virus. It says I need to download this patch immediately. Does anyone know if this is a virus or not? Laura, ANY attachment that claims to come from Microsoft is a virus. MS NEVER emails patches out to users. The only way to get a patch from MS is via Windows Update or directly from the MS web site. Anything that comes via email is a virus. MS has never and will never email patches, pro...

MS patches changing registry entries
Is there a way to prevent MS updates from changing a specified registry setting? For one of the text converters, we point to a specific one we install, but for some reason, MS recently has started to set that entry back to the default setting. I don't want to see that setting changed from our custom setting. FYI, we are a vendor at the site and the site is responsible for admin of their AD. We have little/no say over what can happened in their AD. So any AD solution will have to run to the Admin group get approved then go through an executive committee and the security...

I have read a lot of posts about the DST change but I am still a little confused; please help me out! We have Exchange 2000 running on Windows 2000 Server. It looks like Microsoft is not going to release publicly the DST patches for either of these. My questions are these: 1. For the OS, we just have to manually run the Time Zone Editor (Tzedit.exe tool) to update the OS? If we use the East coast of the US (New York), we just have to update the Eastern Time, right? Not the Pacifix Time, etc? 2. For our Exchange 2000, is the Exchange patch and the CDO update the same thing? If ...
