delivery restrictions #4

I have a mailbox that is used only to receive fax attachemnts emails from a
service that a phone company provides us.
I want to allow only emails coming from this domain
(*@voicemail.telepacific.net) to be allowed in this mailbox.
How can I chieve this? The delivery restrictions area allows only specifying
internal addresses but the address I want to allow is external.

Thanks
Perry

Not really possible to restrict to a domain like that with Exchange
You would probably need something on your SMTP gateway.

Maybe not exactly what he wants, but how about using Outook 2003 and
setting that domain into the Safe Senders and @*.*, @*.*.*, @*.*.*.*,
etc. into the Blocked Senders? Think that'd work?

Why do I need something on the SMTP gateway? Isn't SMTP for sending emails?
I want to restrict received emails to only come from one domain on a
particular mailbox. Need this because the back end parser of these emails
(which are actually emails with fax attachments from a fax service) expects
a certain format. I don't want this mailbox to receive any other kinds of
emails except of this type comming from this domain. Outlook 2003 doesn't
even fit in the picture here because no human would ever browse this
mailbox. Only a back end server process parses these emails and extracts the
faxes from the mailbox.

But no human looks in this mailbox. The mailbox is parsed by a server back
end process for fax extraction. The emails come from a single source -- a
fax service sends emails with fax attachments. I want to guarantee that only
emails from that fax service are accepted in this box as to not break the
parser or clutter the box with irelevant emails or spam.

Because something on the gateway could route any mail from that domain
to a particular mailbox if your gateway supported such a feature.

I didn't say that a human had to monitor the mailbox. All you have to
do is connect to it with Outlook and set things up the way you want
them.

If the parser (or the code that feeds the parser) fails to recognize
the work to needs to do, or breaks when it encounters some unexpected
problem (are there any other kinds?) then you need a more robust bit
of code.

If you want to enforce policies (which is what it sounds like) then
you'll have to look to 3rd-party software (or appliances) that do this
sort of thing very well.

Do you ever RECEIVE anything from another server using SMTP?

Outlook can put rules in place that enforce what you're asking.
Nobody's asking that a human read the contents of the mailbox.
