Receipt Number Auto
Hello all, wondering if anyone has had this issue before.. When we go into
receipt transactions we get "A unigue number could not be generated" This is
based of the REC next number.. looking at the SQl logs it keeps going and
going until what I believe is the timeout session and then you get whatever
number it left off at.. can't find any knowledge base articles on this issue
what-so-ever. Using GP8 sp 3

Greetings...according to the Excel "help" file, as well as the file extension listing, I *should* be able to read an *.wks file, but Excel insists that it cannot. I am pretty sure the file was created in Microsoft Works. Is there a converter somewhere that I can download/install? Cheers - S2
Excel can read Works 2.0, not later. You have to save them in Works as excel
files or Works 2.0 or get a commercial

It may be possible to use the KeyPress event of the list box, but it sounds
like a really horrid interface.
Might be better to use a temp table (for the selected options), with a
subform for selecting them.

We have finished goods setup in Great Plains with track on lot numbers. That
gives us the possibility to trace each lot and the system not allowed us to
go to negatives.
But we had a bad experience: if you pick an inventory item “ABC” that have
100 units available under lot number “123” and you want to make a negative
variance of 10 units for this lot, after you fill the fields in “Item
Transaction Entry” window, it is open “Item Lot Number Entry” window where
you need to enter the lot information.

I want to allow the group Everyone to have read-only access to a calendar in
a certain mailbox. I can do this by granting the permission 'Full mailbox
access' (under 'Mailbox rights', under 'Exchange Advanced', for the

I notice that every mailbox in the system has 'Read permissions' granted to

A word 2003 document where I want to select a 'block' of text in order to
copy it in somewhere else.
How do I mark such a 'block' ?
I assume you know how to select text in general, so there are two possible
interpretations of "block":
1. If you mean a large portion of text that requires scrolling the screen,
click at one end of the desired selection, use the scroll bar to bring the
other end in view, and Shift+click there.
2. If you mean a vertical column portion of a wider block of text, use

After an SP upgrade of my Office 2000 the priviewed mail
doesnt get marked as read anymore. I have tried to change
the time (Tools->Options->Priview pane) from 2 -> 3 -> 4
seconds but nothing works. The only way to mark a mail as
read is either to open it or right click it and chose
Mark as read. Since I only use the priview pane this is
very anoying for me.
Is this a bug or has some setting changed with the SP?

We have a lot of people who need to use various screens in Human Resources to
record things like training, courses, etc. These people should not have
access to the social security number of the employees. Is there a way
(either in GP or SQL) where that field can be restricted and still allow
access to the HR windows?
You can use field level security to hide the field to certain employees.

This is how Visio helps with the numbered list in its 2002 verison of software
Create a numbered list:

What do you mean by "recorded"?
If you want to add line numbers to your pages, go to Page Layout tab,
Page Setup group, Line Numbers.
If you want to see what line you're in as you type, right-click on the
Status Bar (bottom of the document window) and check it (and other
useful things) on the list that appears. (This appears to show only
the line on the present page, not a cumulative total.)

How does Excel handle averaging numbers in a column when some of the cells are blank?
Assuming you're using the =AVERAGE() function, it's designed to ignore blank
cell or those that contain text. IOW, if the range is 10 cells & 4 of them
are empty the function totals the 6 values & divides the sum by 6. If those
4 cells contain 0s it will divide by 10 because 0 is a value.

I'm at work yesterday afternoon responding to e-mail on my desktop, and
Adobe pops up from the toolbar with a notice that there is an update
available for Acrobat. I accept the download, keep plugging away at my

I have a query that pulls together states from a program. I group the states
and added the Count aggregate to the state field. I want access to display
the top 10 states including an extra entry if two states have the same number.
I hope this is clear.
Using top 10 should work

You can't. It is not the file, but the media, that is read only. Even CD-RW
media does not allow editing a file on the CD. Copy te file from CD to HD,
mak edits and if a CD-RW you should be able to burn the edited file back to

I correspond with several Japanese users and can read emails from some of
them without a problem, but emails from others are nothing but a series of
?????. In one case, I can read one email but not another from the same
sender. Changing the Encoding doesn't help. Sending emails in Japanese to
them without a problem...they can read it fine. Would appreciate any
suggestions/solutions as I'm stumped.

We have 1 computer that is doing the oddest thing,
anytime the customer reads the last email in his box,
exit's out of email and then comes back in, that email is
now marked as unread - it's the weirdest thing I have
seen in a long time. I uninstalled office XP, rebooted,
then reinstalled and applied the 2 service packs, hoping
that would fix it, but it didn't. So now I'm stuck and
