broken computer...

I bought Microsoft Office Standard 2007 just a few months ago and installed
it on my computer, which then broke. I am buying a new computer, and am
wonderig if I will be able to still install the Office on the new computer?
If not, it would have been a big waste of 150 dollars just to be able to use
the program for 2-3 months at the most...

I am not a lawyer...

I think that the rules are different for each country.

Did you purchase Office 2007 with the pc? If yes, then your license may not be
transferable. The OEM version is usually tied to the hardware. Are you getting
the replacement pc from the same manufacturer? If yes, then explain the problem
to them. I would think that the replacement pc would have the same
configuration as the broken pc.

If you purchased Office 2007 (from a place like BestBuy or CompUSA), then you
should be able to reregister it on the new pc. But you'll want to take a look
at the End User License Agreement.

I'd start with the EULA that came with the software, then go here:

Windows XP Computer Won't Switch off after Shutdown
When shutting down my desk top computer in the normal way, it goes through the normal process of 'Saving your settings' followed by 'Windows is shutting down' and after a few seconds of disc writing I can hear the hard drive stopping and afterwards all disc activity stops, but the computer stays running indefinitely with the 'Windows is shutting down' message on display. I have to switch it off by pressing the button on the case for 4 seconds. This problem started a few weeks ago for no apparent reason. As a crude diagnostic test, if instead of clicki...

Authentication broken....
We have had CRM 3 running for about 1 month now with no problems. One of my colleagues started messing around with CRM Mobile, and since then we have major authentication issues with CRM 3. Some users can log on as normal via either the web client or the Outlook client, while others get a login prompt and their credentials are not accepted at all. IIS is set to integrated for crm, they have user accounts within crm and the restricted access box isn't ticked. Anybody seen this before? ...

Computer freezes when outlook 2002 is running
Every time I open outlook since I changed to comcast, all my programs, including Outlook freeze. I have archived my old email, have cleaned up my inbox and have tried researching on product support. There has been no change. Any ideas? I've been having the same problem. When I manually do a send/receive (after previewing with Mailwasher), everything freezes for 15 seconds and then thaws for a second and repeats this pattern until I restart. I started up Regmon, a utility (from SysInternals.com) that logs every registration access. The freezes mostly coincide with a reg access by...

I'm buying a new computer and will transfer all from my current to my new. I have XP on both and will use the transfer wizard. I haven't used it yet but its description has no mention of transfering email attachments. I've looked at other software and they are the same; they seem to transfer everything but no mention of attachments. I'm using Outlook 2000 SP3 and will transfer through a local network. Will the wizard transfer the attachments or is there some other way to do it? Any ideas? Thanks, Kozmo The attachments are stored in your PST file along with the mail ...

Broken links?
I am currently using Microsoft Publisher to maintain a website for a student organization. Ever since I got the file from the previous web admin, I have had issues saving the web page; publisher is constantly freezing when I try to save changes I have made. Publisher will eventually unfreeze itself and correctly save changes to the publisher file itself, but now every time I tell it to publish to web, Publisher freezes at the step where the little window with the file folder transferring files to the globe and whites out. I then have to close and reopen the program, but after checking the s...

Can not connect to computer through RWW
I recently had a client move offices, and in turn had to get a new ISP. I had OWA and RWW, and Exchange working at the old location, but when they moved nothing would work. Found out after a hours of router configuration, and sbs restores and installs, that the ISP was blocking ports 25, 80, 443 and others they would not mention. I did ask for these ports to be allowed but was unsuccessful at having that happen. And I am unable to change ISP as there is only one provider in my clients area now. But there has to be another solution? So far I have worked around two issues, but ...

Broken site
We had a sub site that was working fine (training schedules template from MS). The one day we just got 404 whenever we went there. The site is listed in the collections structure and content and can be seen in stsadm -o enumallwebs but we can't browse to it. After giving up on everything I exported the site to a bak file and deleted the sub site. I confirmed the site was gone. Then I created the site again. Same name and url. After the "creating site" page we are redirected to the new site and get the 404 again! I thought maybe the template was broken so I created...

Sync Outlook 2007 between 2 computers
I have Outlook 2007 on 2 computers, one being a brand new laptop and the other a desktop I use most of the time. I use the laptop in the field and would like to have all my Outlook 2007 data, that being mail, contacts, task list etc all sync'd between the two. I have them networked through a router so all I need is a way to do the sync. Has anyone any idea how to sync them please? I cannot afford the expensive Microsoft Small Business Server program and really don't need to sync anything else other than Outlook data. Thanks. Diamontina Cocktail <lrb@australia.com> wrote...

Broken Exchange Information Store
I do support work for a small company, 8 users, on as needed basis. Their system is exchange 5.5, NT-4 service pack 6. On Friday, someone tried to email out a 190 MB video file. Priv.edb starts at 2.3 GB and defrags to 480 MB; Pub.edb starts at 480 MB and drops to 117MB. Program found errors and reported corrections. Isinteg aborts running any and all tests. I have never had trouble with Exchange before so I...

Broken Loan Series?
My house loan payment some times gets out of sync with the bill payment series. (I think Money occasionally misses the match after downloading my bank statements, and I don't catch it.) When this happens, I need to delete a payment in the Bills & Deposits list, since it shows past due. Occasionally (twice now) when I do this the loan changes from a Category of Loan Payment (tied to my loan) in to a Paycheck! If I edit the bill series, the splits don't add up to the total (they sum the wrong way, so the Unassigned is twice the loan payment). No matter what I do at this pa...
