How do I link excel to word so excel changes appear in word?

I have to write a word document in my submittals and some of what I d
in excel I have to hand type into word.  Is there a way I can typ
something like "The total cost is $345,897"  and have the number chang
if my excel pricing changes so I don't have to keep changing the number
in the word document?

I know you can paste tables you make in excel into word, but what 
need is to beable to link a cell in excel to the middle of a sentenc
in word

Here's how I do it:

In Excell, select cell containing desired subtotal
In Word, place cursor in desired location
Edit->Paste Special->Select Link and As Unformatted Text
click OK

Your subtotal (formatted in whatever number format you have applied to
it in Excel), should now be shown in the middle of the sentence.  I'm
not sure how Word knows when to update the links, but sometimes I have
to work a few tricks (close and reopen the document, for example) to
make sure Word is using the latest value from Excel, but it should work
well for you.

Mail merge using Excel data
Using P2003 and mail merge In Pub, whenever my "zipcode" field (that I am getting from an Excel file) has zip +4 digits, "0" shows up in the Pub merge results. In the Excel file, I have tried having the column attributes set as Custom, Text, and others to see if that was causing the problem, but still the same results. Excel 2003 tries to Set Up
I have Excel 2002 loaded on my PC. Just recently, when I try to open an Excel file, it goes thru Windows Installer and comes up with MS Office 2003 setup window.....asking me for user name, initials, product key. Linked Tables Over A LAN
Hi, I have a problem with a PC that is sharing an Access database over a LAN. I'm hoping someone may be able to give me a little advice. Why won't Publisher 2007 convert my email links correctly when saved in pdf format? It puts "mail to:" in twice automatically. It is converting website links without a problem. If memory serves the Office 2007 SP1 fixed this in Publisher. The SP2 is also now available.
