Moving data series horizontally (offset) to prevent overlapping
I could use some help with my Line with Markers -chart. My four different
series overlap each other a little, which isn't that much of a problem until
I add error bars, which are almost impossible to format so that you can know
for sure which error bars belong to which data series.
Is it possible to move a data series (including its error bars) right or
left just a few pixels so the error bars are distinguishable from each other?
I've seen this done in some published charts, but can't find a way to do it.

I am looking for a macro that will return a comparison of each cell in
a range to each cell in another range.
example. the first range would have vales of 1,2,3 and the second
range would have values of 5,6,7 Thus the macro should return 9
possible comparisons: 1 & 5, 1 & 6, 1 & 7, 2 & 5, 2 & 6, 2 & 7,
3 & 5, 3 & 6, 3 & 7,

Hey, this seems fairly simple but is stumping me. I have a table with
static data that shows my budgetary costs per month for the last 2
years. The row labels in my table are the categories (mortgage,
insurance, power, gas, phone, etc.) and the column labels are each
month for 2007 and 2008. What I want to do is create a chart that will
graph the data (line chart) for each category over the last two years.
I would like to choose what category to display on the chart so
they're not all on the chart at the same time. I have tried a Pivot

What do you do if you forget the name?
If the range name is located in the workbook, you should find it under:
Insert> Name> Define> Known Lists in Workbook will show.
If the range name is in another workbook, then you will need to search
through them to fine its location.

I have a surface chart with several bands of various color defs.
Occassionally, but not always, when the source data is modified ALL bands
take on a purple color. I then have to click on each line of the legend and
reformat it for the intended color. I have not discovered what causes this
or how to stop it from occurring.

I am charting some data that has a large range in numbers.
I'm using a clustered column chart that compares values across categories.
The chart has 4 categories of numbers to chart monthly. The problem I'm
having is - in one category, the raw data numbers range from 2000 to 4500 and
another category ranges from 25 to 90. When I chart this data, I cannot
really see much of a bar in the chart for the smaller values. I want to at

If I want to autofill a series of values from 1 to 10, using the autofill
handle is the easiest way to do it. But if I want to autofill 1 to 1000,
that's a bit more tedious with the autofill handle. Is it possible to do it

Are the cells empty for future months? Under Tools/Options/Chart there are
several options as to how to handle empty cells.

I'm having a strange problem with a chart done in Excel 2003 (on a workbook
prepared by someone other than myself, so I'm not sure of all that has
happened with it before.) There are three lines drawn on the chart, and one
is normal - that is, the line drawn correlates to the values being charted.
But the other two lines don't correlate to the numbers they should be
charting. When you hover over these two lines and it tells you the values
for the data point, the data point values are fine - but that isn't what the

the series to reference the Primary Y-Axis using a Bar format and 1 of the

I have a stacked column chart for some accounts I have and I'm trying to add
a YTD total at the end. I have 7 different accounts that are stacked going
from jan to dec, and then the last column on the right is YTD. I added the
YTD by adding a column in my data with the sums of the monthly data, but the
YTD column is now making it hard to read my monthly data because the axis is
larger. I tried adding a secondary axis, but that changes the whole data

templates called 'Budgets' and 'Accounts'. 'Budgets' has worksheets: 'Lists'

I could really use some charting help. Here's my data and
what I'm trying to do. Cells A1:D1 contain sales for
regions North,South,East,West and cell E1 is a total
budget. What I'd like to do is have a two bar chart. Bar
1 would be a stacked bar that would be the sum of A1:D1
but each cell (or region N,S,E,W) would be a different
color. Bar 2 would be cell E1 for the total budget.
For example, my chart for this data would have bar 1 with
a total of 27 (5+10+8+4) but in 4 separate colors and
then bar 2 would merely be the total budget.
