Sharing violation on Excel files and cannot find the path specifie
W2003 Storage server in a Microsoft cluster with storage on a Compellent
SAN. Problems with Excel files. Lot of corrupted Excel files. Excel files
with sharing violation. If I want to delete a file I get the message “cannot
find the path specified". Files are not in use. These problems occur only
with Excel files opened with MS Excel. If Open office is used there is no
sharing violation. Single Instance Storage is activated. Problems disappear
after a while and occur on other Excel files. Is someone familiar with these

I'm currently taking multiple csv files and trying to process them into
one excel workbook file (each csv on a seperate worksheet). The code is
relatively simple, however, it seems to take obscenely long to process
all this information into excel. For example, I have 3 csv files with
1000 rows and 4 columns. This takes about 30 seconds. Passing a single
csv file simply by calling excel and saying open whatever.csv is almost
instantaneous (i.e. I'm not trying to process it into an excel format,
I'm just opening the actual csv file).

I have created a chart based on a specific query. Both are successful and
exactly what I want. However I need to create 10 more of these only for
different employees. In the query, I can easily copy and past to make a new
identical query and then just go into the design and change my criteria. I
have also in the past copy and pasted reports and then just changed the data
source to match a different query. However in a CHART I am unable to copy a
successful chart and then paste it and go in to change the source to a new

I wish to create a line graph to chart errors over time. Each entry has a
"Type" and "Date" column. I want the dates on the x-axis filled
automatically and a different line for each type of error. Every time I try
to enter it manually the chart shows only the dates on the spreadsheet. This
doesn't display the trends very well.

I need to create a chart that will show for each class how many Xs and Ys

Strange problem with excel 2002 sp3 on windows 2000 sp4.
If we open an excel document via exel - eg file - open the document opens.
However if we go to the network folder directly and try to open the same
file we get an error - cannot find file - path/libary incorrect ?
I did a seach for .xlb file which I know can be a problem and cannot find
this at all but symptoms of this are usually excel hanging and not opening
at all ?
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I insert excel charts into publisher using the insert object command.
It allows me to double click on the chart and modify it in excel even
though it has been pasted in publisher. I have two problems with this.
The first is that I am drastically shrinking the charts and when I try
to modify them in excel they often become distorted. The second problem
I have is that I would like to shrink the chart before inserting it into
publisher. Is there a way to do this while also shrinking the
background? Now I just end up with a small chart, but tons of blank

Got a silly problem. MS Excel 2003 Professional via MS partner pack

Start Excel as normal, no problem, clik on FILE on the menu bar and
Excel stops responding. ALL other menu items work correctly. I've
un-installed and re-installed the software, no change. Excel WILL run
in safe mode however. Any ideas anyone please.

How do I have a drop down list in a cell of a bunch of items and when you
select on of the items in the drop down it will fill in the whole row and
columns for that item. For example:
Item Description Price Qty
So when you select the item in column A it will fill in the Description,
price and the quantity.

I have a unique Excel Chart saved on one file (chart01.xls). I have
hundreds of files that each contain one chart (chart01.xls, chart03.xls, etc)
.. How can organize these charts such as in Access database so I can quickly
search and preview or open select chart? Any suggestions?
If all the charts are saved to the same folder you might consider:
1. Using the Save Preview Picture feature so that when you use File Open you
can set the display to Preview and see a preview. This is done by choosing

I am doing bar charts based on percentages. My titles are Poor, Fair, Good,
Excellent. Usually the % for Poor or Fair is 0% but if it is 2% for Poor and
1% for Fair it looks like 21% because of the size. If it is under 3% I don't
want it to show the title but I still want to show it via color in the chart

I think I posted this in the wrong place before.
I'm trying to chart a series that is comprised of 5 - 3
number groups. I can chart the first group, but when I
try to add the next series, it stacks them onto the
existing columns rather than make 3 new ones.

printing and is also very limited in function. I am trying to create an

Good morning all. I have several charts in a workbook that captures data from
another workbook. The problem I am having is that the data gets converted
from having two decimal points to four. I have tried formatting the source
data cells with different number formats, ie: general number w/two decimal
places and accounting numbers w/two decimals. Still the charts in the other
workbook show 4 decimal places. Any ideas?
