Web Client and Track in CRM issues

One of our clients is having problems with his CRM web client. Every time he
clicks on an opportunity it takes about seventy seconds for the page to load.
The other users run about four to six seconds for the page to load. We
thought the traffic for port 80 was high so we changed the port in IIS to
5555 hoping that would speed up the issue. Well everything works the same
except that now in the Outlook client they click on “Track in CRM” and it
takes about ten seconds to change to “View in CRM” when before it was almost
instant. I tried re-installing the outlook client hoping it would change any
settings I might have missed to port 5555. The Home Page in the Outlook CRM
folders is pointing to the new port. As for the web client if we log on as
him on different workstation he is able to load the opportunities page in
five seconds. We have all the hot fixes installed on the server and the
workstations. Any ideas what might be causing these issues?

If I understand the situation correctly, when the user logs in via the web
client on any other machine, it works normally, but when he logs on the web
client on his own machine it is slow. This would lead me to believe that the
problem is specific to his machine. What about if other users log on to his
machine? Do they experience slow performance?

If that's the case, I'd look for other add-ons to IE that he has running and
disable them. Also check the machine's settings to make sure it is pulling
DNS from the right place and doesn't have an incorrect primary DNS server.
Run a spyware/virus scan on it, stop superfluous services that are running on
it, and make sure it's local antivirus isn't blocking any ports.

Thank you for responding. We also believe that it is machine specific but
have not tried to log in as a different user on his machine. That will be my
first task. He is also using another web app and will try to disable that to
make sure that is not causing any issues. Once I am done I will post an
update.

We found out that if you open anything up in CRM all in a separate window in
IE7 the speed issue goes away, but if you use one window with different tabs
it runs slow. We also noticed that if you open the wrong contact and try to
close it fast before the page even loads it freezes for 2-3 minutes then
resumes. Once we found out we tried it in different locations and got the
same issue. If we open a contact or anything else and wait a few seconds
then close, the page closes normally.
The “Track in CRM” issue went away on its own.

CRM and Exchange 2003
Hello all! I searched long and hard for the answer, but as you all know, good info on CRM is hard to find... Here's my issue: We are currently running Exchange 2000, and plan to install CRM. I know about Server 2003 compatability issues, so we are will be installing CRM on Server 2000, and will use SQL Server 2000 as well. However, we are just a small part of a much larger entity who is planning on moving everything to Exchange 2003 VERY soon! So, if everything else stays the same (2000) and we upgrade our Exchange Server to 2003, will CRM get hosed? or will life still be tranq...

CRM is broke
I have recently reinstall crm and I have huge problem. I have no way to administer the server. When I open the deployment manager, all I have is the license manager. No Server Manager, No User manager NOTHING. I need some help in resolving this issue. I got that too, but only when I logged on as a user (me) who wasn't the one who installed CRM. I was guessing that it could be related to me not being domain admin or something. I've gone through the e-Learning courses and the chapter on the Deployment manager just mentions: There are a couple of prerequisites to using Deploymen...

The solution in the article fixes our problem perfectly but the issue is that every time new windows update patches are installed (once a month) this registry key is changed back to its original state. This is causing havoc because every month we have a mob of angry users who cannot view important production information until we can reapply the work around to all the pc's in the plant! Export CRM-contacts to Outlook Global Contact (CRM 1.2)
Hi, I want to export all the contacts in CRM to the Outlook Global Contact, so all the non-CRM-users can find contacts with there phonenumber etc. There is no support for this at all in CRM 1.2 I can do this manually. First export all the contact to Excel and from there back in Global Contact. Now the problem is the 'Save as'-field. You can only set this field by opening the contact, set the field and save it. For one contact is this no problem, for 5000 contacts it is. When I import the contacts I can't set the value of this field. It has a default value, but I need anoth...
