URL for case or opportunity in notification email

Greetings all,
Again I find myself at a loss for a customization I'd like to do. I've
looked through the newsgroups and on the sandbox to no avail. I'd like to be
able to send an email that goes something like:
You've just been assigned a case! Please click here to open the case

and have the word 'here' be a link to the actual case (or opportunity) that
would open up in the web interface but I cannot find a way to include the
'entity URL' (if there is such a thing). Can anyone reccommend a
straightforward to accomplish this?
  Many thanks in advance.

Yes, this would indeed be from a workflow.

We have this woking for several clients (e.g. send a link when a
task/company/phone call etc is assigned) & put link in the workflow email.

What you need to do is:

1. Create a dot net assembly that gets the GUID of the entity - register in
workflow as usual
2. in worklow on the vent you want, call the assembly above to grab the guid
of your entity
3. In body of email put in your text plus the html for the hyperlink and add
the end place in the gui returned from the assembly above.

Bit fiddly to set up but once you've done it, all works fine.

Only Microsoft could make something so simple, so difficult that it requires
programming skills.... given the common nature and logic of the requirement,
you would think MS would release a "patch" or something to address this and
the other requests, rather than wait another year for v4...

By using a URL shortening service I can embed links that are specific to the resume that I sent, and I can track every click on that link from that specific resume.
