Task Pane Integration with CRM Contact Records

Hi,

I am still new to CRM and recently saw the ability for an Office 2003 users,
say in Word, to use the Shared Workspace Pane (I think) to connect to CRM and
create merged documents using XML tags.

The user would bring up the template which had the tags, then in the shared
workspace pane choose a button (?) to access CRM then pick a contact record
and it merged into the template, sort of DDE style I think?

I think the system required SharePoint, BizTalk, Integration Framework and
CRM with Office 2003, but this is where I am very fuzzy. We do not require
Sharepoint in this installion so not sure if this is needed for this type of
integration.

Can anyone tell me what hardware and software is needed to achieve this and
how it is achieved? We are just starting our install and as a number of
users will be spending most of their time in Word, this would be very handy.

Thanks so much in advance!

What you are talking about has to do with a new add on from Microsoft called
the Integration Bridge Framework. These component get installed on the Server
as well as the workstations. You must be running Server 2003 on the CRM box
as well as Office 03 on each workstation. The download is available on the
Microsoft site as well as installation instructions. You do not have to be
running Sharepoint or Biztalk to get this functionality.

Hi Brent,

Thanks SO MUCH for clarifying this for me. It did sound like it was
something easy to implement and I will have my implementation team look into
to.

Thanks again Brett, but another question. I have not used XML but what would
be the best way to learn to how to update a template with the XML tags? I
have done Word Automation and some DDE before, so this is new. Can you
recommend a website or resource guide for this?

Thanks!

Contact Search Issue
Hi, I am having difficulty searching for a contact by Last Name. Here is what's going on: I have imported data from Excel spreadsheet. Import looks good. All the data has been imported as expected. Migrating from BCM to CRM

Concatenate Tasks With Summary Tasks in Reports
I think I have found in other posts but I want to ask directly just in case someone else has other info... Can MSP concatenate each task in a report with its summary tasks? If I add a breadcrumb to each task in the entry view, not only is this time consuming but I also can't read the entry view as well as before.
